Humidity sensor, sees to be a magnetic field cancellator device which comes on only when you put a disk into the disk drive. The top of the screen goes blank then. Keep the floppy disc reader inside but not connected since you don't use it.Your jittering screen might go away.
I know I'm a couple of years late but the monitor is a CD-1035E series monitor. I have the same in mine an LC574A and a service manual is available through the LeCroyOwnersGroup. Mine has no raster and working on it is impossible like you described so its been apart for a while and will probably go to an LCD screen if I can find one.
Loved the LeCroys since I first got to use one in 1990. A top of the line amber screen. Nothing else could capture the 84 bit pwm serial word on the Radar I worked on.
I've had the worst luck with Lecroy's, -- I've owned three of the older amber 'scopes up to 1GHz in my shop. I currently only have a 9350 500MHz that I switched on 3 weeks ago and although it powers up, no display anymore. I don't have the time to repair it and I feel your pain. I had an amber, white case, 1GHz that, when I moved it, it committed suicide on me (I was moving it to another position in the shop carrying it by the side handle when said handle decided to part from the case and the 'scope made an ugly mess all over the shops concrete floor). It probably knew it's display was going fail and did the honorable thing first. I love these 'scopes, but they are a service nightmare. I have Tek 'scopes going back to the 7000 series that just keep on ticking... the most reliable scopes ever.
The good ole days in the TV shop when you could buy a can of freeze spray or use your Weller gun to cool or heat components. Found many intermittent problems that way.
You probably dont give a shit but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me
@Kash Finley Thanks for your reply. I got to the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
hey bud, if you ever need the floppy disk, it's just a drive belt. I've got that same scope and it's 1.5 GHz bigger brother. I replaced the belt in both scopes and they work great. P. S. I always wondered what that board above the CRT was too! The 1.5 GHz scope doesn't use a CRT and that board is not there. maybe it's some kind of static guard?
Wow! Did they require that all of their repair techs be Arnold Schwarzenegger's 3rd cousin? Lol. The interior of the VGA display is a horror show but the modularity of the beast is kind of nice. Looked like any old VGA display that fit the faceplate would have done the trick. Interesting gear and another great video! Congrats on the fix!
Sadly Tektronix, HP and everyone else have gone the same route. Try to get an actual repair manual for any of the new gear. The process is check voltage, replace module.
Replacing that battery was a waste. It's rechargeable and was probably low because the scope had not been turned on in a while. Regardless, the battery keeps nothing important, just panel config and stuffs. The scope self calibrates as you mentioned, there is no calibration data to be lost.
Looks like LeCroy farmed out the display to some custom shop in Asia and the power supply to somebody else etc. They just put it all together at the factory like a kit. Did a quick cal and out it went for silly money.
Your likely correct. Common these days. Probably LeCroy designed it. At least it was not from Mainland China. Samsung and most Taiwan manufacturers are pretty reliable. I worked throughout Asia most of my working life.
If you wanted to haul it down and open the box every year and check/replace batteries. These button cells last years without leaking. I have seen some leak, but it is rare.

You're a brave man going in there.👍
Didn't have much to loose......Thanks for watching.
What's the weight of this Oscilloscope?

Still works today.....

Thank you so much, you saved my account !

Hi Joe, Thanks for the offer. Can't imagine I will ever use the drive. Appreciate the offer.
Hope the fix sticks! Repaired my dead HP5385A counter last week...bloated cap, nice when a fix is easy. 73 - Dino KLØS
Hi Dino, have my fingers crossed.
Besides a ton of weight that thing must have cost a ton of money in it's day as well. Still is a great spec. Looks great, now!
Even today they command a hefty price.....

Not sure it's a fix yet. We will give it a month or two.
You can really tell that maintenance was dead last in that scope's list of requirements.

@@theradiomechanic9625 I like my TDS-380 for that very reason!

There's plenty of room in there you could have glued in a 2xAA holder for the memory instead, yes? 3V is 3V.

@@theradiomechanic9625 An ordinary 18650 battery would probably work as a replacement.
