- Emory Gamelan Ensemble performs a Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet epic) performance "The Prosperity of Wibisana" in April 2017, an episode from the Ramayana story. Pak Midiyanto is the guest artist speaking and moving the puppets. Scene 1 starts with vocal introduction by Isaac Foster Mirza, artistic director of the Ensemble. Wibisana meets his elder brother, Rahwana (Ravana) and his nephew (Indrajit) who rule the kingdom of Alangka (Lanka) and imprison Sinta (Sita), after the Monkey King Hanoman has burned down their palace. The speech and song begin in JAVANESE but be PATIENT, the characters soon switch to English!
as a native javanese it's kinda weird and interesting to watch wayang kulit in English,
Pov: you’re not the only one who’s watching this because you have a performance task in MAPEH 8
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH
This is really well made! Pretty great presentation, thorough but understandable, and clean!
Props to y'all :D
Grade-8 here 😢
Hahahahaha
Where are you from?
Funny just like the real scene hahaha.
What are the instruments used?
It's called Javanese Gamelan because the wayang played there is the Javanese one. It's from Surakarta Palace of Yogyakarta Palace. There are 2 widely known gamelan, they are Javanese and Balinese gamelan.
There are pentatonic percusions: saron, peking, gong, bonang.
Thank you
