@@qwxilly1373 The photos and the videos are stored in 2 separate folders. If you're trying to playback on the camcorder you have to switch between photos and videos. In the playback mode there are 2 icons in the upper right of the screen for selecting the photos or video folder to play back. If you're viewing the SD card on a computer videos are in the folder labeled "MP_ROOT" whereas the photos are in the folder "DCIM".

@@amyoo_ I use the original as well as a third party battery manufactured by Kastar. I got the huge NP-FV100 so I can record for like 6 hours straight. the NP-FV50 will be the same size as the original but with a little more battery life, make sure to get one of the brands like Kastar otherwise the camera may not work with cheaper brands like Opteka because it doesn't have the digital chip inside.

    CAMCORDER REVIEW:
    SUMMARY…
The Sony Handycam DCR-SX45, DCR-SX65, and DCR-SX85 were released in 2011, and were one of Sony’s last generations of consumer-grade standard definition camcorders (succeeded by the DCR-SX21). The only difference between these three models is the presence of internal memory, in which the DCR-SX45 has none, the DCR-SX65 has 4GB and the DCR-SX85 has 16GB.
    CAMCORDER BODY…
The camcorder’s body is mostly constructed of a glossy plastic, making it a fingerprint magnet. The plastic seems somewhat thick, quite durable as well. I have two of these, one of them survived a fall down my solid wood basement stairs a few years back. Something to note, while being an isolated incident and most likely not a common occurrence, is that the memory card slot of one of them is broken. It, for some odd reason, will not read regular memory cards, and can ONLY read Memory Stick Pro Duo cards.
The front of the camcorder is characterized by a video light, this is what I remember most about seeing these at Best Buy in 2011-2012, always thought it was the coolest feature (especially since I was stuck with a Panasonic SDR-T70 at the time). In reality, the video light is so-so, it really only works at a distance of about 5-7 feet or closer. Aside from that, there is a 37 mm lens thread. The microphone is located on either side of the light. Should also note that there is an automatic lens cover present, which sounds cool on paper. In practice, these can get stuck pretty easily, making turning on/off the camera real hassle at times.
The top of the camcorder is where the user will find the zoom lever (variable speed), photo button, and mode button.
The LCD itself is nice, have noticed that Sony LDCs are not great at reducing image burn-in from long recording times. Other than that, touch screen seems to be responsive, these do not appear to suffer from the UI lag that the HDR-CX130/160/180 has.
Behind the LCD are four buttons and a USB port: The power button, the playback button, the button to activate the built-in light, and the “I Auto” button (for intelligent auto).
The rest of the body is rather simple, the back of the camcorder holds the battery compartment and record button, the side has the DC charger port and the A/V port (uses a proprietary cable), the handstrap, and a number of different decals advertising various features. The bottom is home to the tripod mount (standard quarter inch), battery release lever, and the SD/Pro Duo card slot. The location of the card slot is somewhat irritating because certain tripods would require you to remove the camcorder to remove the card.
    USER INTERFACE…
The user interface isn’t really anything too special. Personally, I kind of like it, I think it works well with the touch screen interface that these cameras have. That being said, there does seem to be a downgrade in its accessibility, as there aren’t any real categories for the user to access, just a massive list of options.
The default display option is to have the user flashed with the menu, playback, video quality, recording time remaining, and battery level for a moment (along with other possible indicators). This then gives way to a simple display consisting of a record button and zoom controls, operated via the touchscreen.
Tapping the "menu" button will bring the user to the "My menu" section, where the user can customize a their own menu (by tapping on the "my menu setting" button) consisting of six options. To see the camcorder's full menu system, the user must tap on "see others".
From there the menu options are a pretty standard assortment, starting with manual settings: Scene selection, fader, manual controls for white balance, focus, and exposure. There are some touchscreen-centered options, like a tap to focus/exposure mode, which is pretty nifty. Camcorder also has Tele Macro, which zooms all the way in, then sets the focus to an abnormally close point. This option would be cooler if the camcorder's zoom range wasn't so long, as it makes it quite cumbersome and impossible to use.
Also present are the shooting settings for the recording mode (HQ, SP, and LP), a guideframe (on-screen grid), Steadyshot (image stabilization, it does have both "active" and "standard" modes), Auto Slow Shutter (slows shutter speed for brighter/darker environments), face detection, Audio Recording Settings (controls for a built-in zoom microphone, which is a gimmic, and te microphone ref level, which allows the user to lower the microphone's level slightly), Other Rec Settings (Digital zoom, allows for up to 2000x, massively pixelated though, back light compensation, and the widescreen selection option).
Photo settings (still in the "show others" section) are pretty basic. Includes options for a self-timer, image size (0.3 megapixels or 0.2 megapixels), and the file numbering scheme.
Playback options include the visual index mode, image viewing settings (date index, film roll, and "face"), a playlist setting, playback settings for the data code (set between "off", "date/time", or the camera data).
Edit menu includes the delete button, protect and divide buttons, photo capture button, and the playlist editing mode.
Others menu contains the USB Connect mode and Battery Info mode.
Manage media section is where the user will find the "media format" button, and the option to repair the image database file.
General settings, all the way at the bottom, is where the user will be able to change settings such as: TV type (16:9 or 4:3), the Display Output setting, clock and language settings, Power settings such as auto shutoff and the option to power the camera on/off by opening/closing the LCD screen, and other settings such as the demo mode, touchscreen calibration, and USB LUN setting.
    VIDEO/AUDIO QUALITY…
The video quality on these models is rather abysmal. The camcorder only has 410,000 effective pixels in 16:9 mode. There is an absurd amount of noise/grain, even in broad daylight. Low light obviously makes that worse, but thankfully the built-in light can reduce that a bit. Low light ability is so-so, it’s not awful (like the Sony Webbie), of course it’s not up-to-par with the greats of the past (like the CCD-TRV ¼” sensor series). Even then, comparing it to other standard definition camcorders, like the Sony DCR-TRV250 or the JVC GZ-MG130U, it’s just a really poor performer when it comes to video quality.
Still photo quality is even worse, as it’s just a screenshot from the video. That means the photo quality is a whopping 640 x 480. Add to that all the grain/noise that the camcorder tends to have, and the user has himself a very terrible still camera.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times: I’m not an audio buff. The audio quality on this camcorder is alright. Does seem to be an ever-present hiss in the background, appears to be louder than a number of other camcorders I’ve tested. Otherwise, the audio quality isn’t too bad. As is typical with camcorders like these, the microphone isn’t hyper-directional either, so the user will hear sounds coming from the rear.
    COMPARISON TO PREVIOUS YEARS…
As stated above, the video quality on this camcorder is not great, which is surprisingly in-line with other DCR-SX models (with the exception of the DCR-SX83, however, I consider that model to be an outlier), specifically the DCR-SX40, DCR-SX41, and DCR-SX60, which came out in 2009. Aside from that, the design for this model year did get an upgrade; one which I believe was a positive change. While I do not own any of the aforementioned predecessors, their design appears to be rather uncomfortable to hold/operate.
The predecessors also have a manual lens cover, which is generally seen as a negative trait. Personally, I prefer them, just because particles can get caught it the automatic ones and cause them to get stuck.
There are some other small things to note as well. The zoom length on the previous models is also *slightly* lower (60x instead of 70x), but that difference is negligible. The card slot was updated to allow SD cards in later model years as well. The menu system was overhauled. The battery support changed from Infolithium H to infolithium V batteries.
The buttons on the camcorder’s body were changed over the years as well: The “Disc burn”, “backlight”, “Easy Mode”, and “Display” buttons were removed in favor of buttons that the user will be more likely to operate.
