- So now that season 3 is out on Warzone Mobile; along with quite a few major optimization improvements amongst android and iOS devices, I had to conduct another performance test. In this video, I tested the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra on camera. Off camera I retested the iPhone 15 Pro Max, Galaxy S24 Ultra, and ROG 8 Pro.

Samsung uses a form of GOS to temperature throttle at around 43c max. So, it will always be lower in most hardcore games. I am sure if Apple decided to throttle at 43c then it would perform similar if everything else was the same (res & details). You may want to play the iPhone in low power mode as that will lower temps and give more stable performance.

I think the stability was much better on the galaxy but both device did well, also am surprised the 14pm came out on top in the fps comparison after watching the video, although that might be because the gameplay on the s23 ultra was mostly outdoor compared to the 14 pro max that was indoors or close to walls most of the time.
Yes, the s23 gave a stable performance at most times compared to it 14pm, which was all over the place, probably to reduce Temps and run up fps after a while, it is a well optimized phone but a little deceitful with the numbers. I'd still have chosen the s23 for its stability
No the 14 pm landed at an airfield with grass. Gameplay was more outdoors with that. Plus he had to respawn and it had to load in the entire map again.
yea he went to the gulag on the iphone and was getting 100+ fps, and cutscene at the end of the game for some reason the s23 Ultra was capped at 35fps but the iphone was getting 100+ again. If he went to the gulag on the S23 Ultra, it wouldve easily been a tie

That part where the iphone was getting 100+ fps in the middle of the chart was because you were in the gulag, which i think made the difference. If you went to the gulag on both devices, it would've been a tie atleast

Yeah I've been hesitant on getting the S24 Ultra. It's inferior to the 23 Ultra in some ways. Still love using my S23 Ultra.
I noticed something that... apparently not all graphics settings are matched when applying the "same" setting on different phones
For example my S23U mid graphics look significantly better than mid graphics on my Galaxy Note 10, where the former looks like an imperceptible downscaled "high" while on the latter, it looks like the "low" at slightly higher res

You don’t address the fact the iPhone clearly has better shadow quality and rendering quality. I noticed more detailed character shadows scenery and hair on the iPhone as compared to the android. 1:45 serves as the best example for this difference.

Yes .but in competitive games , quality is not preferred. Also iphone fps is a bit more fluctuating may be due to bad thermals😅with phone cooler it will be better than all.

the temp difference between 15PM and 14PM tho :D I would love to see how 13PM performs as well (not only in that game, but others as well) - 13PM is still a great phone and one of the more loved ones!

I don't understand how you got such indicators on rog phone 8, I have 60 fps on average on average settings at 46 C of temperature after 5 minutes of play

hardware will never max out on mobile devices, once they meet the standards they’ll stay there to preserve battery life and keeping a lower thermal

Yes I have alternate performance mode on, game pluggins, and game driver installed.

Judging by your video, I want to ask why the C24 ultra GPU was loaded by 90%, while the C23 ultra GPU is loaded 20-30% and FPS is higher , although C24 ultra energy efficiency per watt puts it on the blades🤔

Is it google play version of galaxy store version(if there's any) because if I remember correctly some games on galaxy store are specifically optimized for galaxy phones meaning they can give better performance at least that's what I heard, can you also make a comparison between them ?

One thing I want to address which is pretty cool and sad: when I screen record on high graphics, (uncapped) and I go to iMovie and try to render it out, it’s capped at 720. However, on peak graphics, (uncapped), it lets me render 720p60..
Surprised that S23U outperforms S23U. Its a shame I sold my S23U to buy an iPhone 14PM. I have a cooler from Alibaba :/ not ideal but it does the job. I feel like samsung intentionally ruined the performance on the S24 ultra so that the exynos variant does not feel left behind that is why S24 has better battery life than other snapdragon devices but underperforming together with exynos variants that is why last years S23 devices have consistent performance regardless if it is the base S23 or the ultra they used only the snapdragon 8 gen 2

I've got S23 Ultra aswell, at the start I get around 100FPS but after some time, it goes down and locks to 49FPS, Please help if you know!

Perfdog can only track 120 fps via wired mode. Wireless can read up to 60 fps.

There is good reason why the iPhone 14PM and the S24U both perform below expectations as they are both 3rd gen 4nm chips and therefore are overclocked 2nd gen 4nm. Really only two gens per architecture size is the best upgrade route. Gen 1 is the new node, and gen 2 is it optimised. Gen 3 is usually just a gap stop with an overclocked chip.
That is why the S23U should be compared with the iPhone 13PM, the iPhone 14PM with the S24U and the iPhone 15PM with the upcoming 3nm SD8G4. Because Android is a year to 18 months behind Apple in getting the latest chips it means the S24U is not comparable to the iPhone 15PM and why the S24U was probably a poor upgrade from the S23U.
What are you even talking about. Look at ROG 8, how would say that it's not comparable to the 15pm in terms of performance? 3rd Gen 4nm is different than 2nd Gen 4nm

Bruh the sd 8gen3 got newer cores, all of them (especially X4 & A720) have significant jumps in performance and efficiency compared to older cores on 8gen2. Not to mention they have used an extra mid core(1+5+2) instead of the usual efficiency one(1+4+3) allowing high performance at lower energy consumption.

I don't understand. I have an S23, and the difference between the Ultra and base s23 isn't that different, except for the bigger cooling system. But even so, I was in an air-conditioned room under a fan, and the game was still unplayable for me. I don't know how it's better on your S23U.

Before update my game work like smooth but after optimization update it shuttering like hell while in lobby and some time in match ... some time all of my button suddenly dissappear and hang for 1 or 2 seconds in my (S23 ultra ) samsung
Because the textures got updated or removed so u need to play more to make the game as smooth as before and maybe smoother

This probably shows activision's lazyness in optimizing WM, you see the S23U was ON ITS PEAK using 30% of the GPU meaning it do can push way way more graphics or FPS. Maybe could be thermal throttling since samsung's threshold is 43.2C but that's still kinda WM's fault

So to create the illusion of motion that will be immersive to the human eye is 24 frames per second, this is the standard for cartoons on television, anything below 24 fps is discernable to the human eye and motion will appear choppy destroying the illusion of realistic motion anything thing above 24 fps is really unnecessary because the eyes are already fooled to perceive smooth motion at and above 24 fps. The CPU/GPU needs to be able to calculate all the geometery/polygons and physics along with the interface inputs and be able to render and sustain the graphics, physics and where all the objects are on the screen painting and calculating everything at least 24 fps to create an immersive experience for the player, snapdragon chipset seems to be very consistent at holding 60 or 70 fps while the Iphone is climbing and dropping all over the place, so it doesn't matter if the Iphone is putting out higher max numbers because it drops a lot of frames not being able to calculate very graphic intensive scenes, so the snapdragon seems to be the more optimized and powerful chip. Again the goal is not to go below 24 fps to keep the illusion of smooth realistic motion, and it's the CPU/GPU that needs to be able to calculate and draw all those frames in milliseconds

Nah, I’m going back to my S23U after trying out WZM for 5 days with my iP14PM. The gameplay is very unstable specially when you start screen recording. Man, tbh, that 6gb RAM inside iP14PM is really insufficient.
The gaming experience between iP14PM and S23U is night and day. That 12gb RAM in S23U is a huge difference.

@apostolkaftani9149 All Samsung devices from s8 to now have Desktop mode called Dex, you need to connect your phone to TV via USB c to hdmi cord, Dongle or adapter, all are common in stores, I have shorts on my page as demonstration

@apostolkaftani9149 on dex your phone screen will be turned off, your screen uses up battery and will heat up more the higher resolution it has to output + refresh rate, I have the s23 ultra and I play wardrobe flawless via Dex so I'm not just talking.

My s23 ultra still overheats in this game and still lags. They didnt do anything to the battery problem. I should be able to run this game at 8GB of ram with zero issue's
Ram isn't really that important for gaming. GPU and CPU are. Ram is designed to help multitasking or multiple operations. Usually, heavy games like Warzone Mobile only need 2-3gb of ram.
@DameTech I use a really good phone cooler it's helps very well in the middle, but My phone tend to heat up fast right next to my cameras in the corner for some odd reason? And this phone is brand new still. And your 23 ultra runs better then mine for some reason?

Samsung really cant take ALL the blame and let me explain why. The 8 gen 3 is a VERY powerful chip but it comes at the expense of power usage. The 8 gen 2 was much more efficient and thus once throttling kicks in, the 8 gen 2 shines. But yes samsung does have to take a LOT of the blame since the rog is performing so well being passively cooled

S23 here and warzone even with grapichs on low and 45 fps cap, the phone goes 🔥🔥🔥 and game crashes every time ... unplayable ( ofc my phone has 0 problems ) warzone is the problem

Bro literally listed the worst optimized game on mobile right now LMAO. For years Genshit has done terrible on phones that should be able to run it very well.
Welp, guess warzone and genshin will be in the same category. However, even in other games, I've still noticed the S23U either equaling or surpassing the performance of the S24U. Samsung needs to use 770mhz instead of the 1Kmhz clocked GPU for their SD8G3. Rog 8 Pro is doing amazing with their standard clocked GPU and no fan.

On iOS it is more realistic, in the part of the plane where it shows the character you see more texture and details in the IOS version, the Android version is very capable.
This is clearly wrong the Iphone is running at its Display resolution
