nice to see someone that actually points out that most of these people who "retire" are just stepping back a bit, and its not like they Thanos snap out of here.
Congratulations on your retirement Sumito. I can't believe its been 60 years already. And you look barely a day over 62! Have a great time going to Japan and using vending machines 24/7! 👍
Glad you're sticking it out despite this kind of work being a grind. Just from my own view, I'm always glad whenever I see one of your videos in my subscription feed!
it never feels like a grind when the numbers go up, it feels like a grind when numbers feel like you're running on a hamster wheel. healthy thing is to separate your satisfaction with making content from the numbers, but thats easier said than done.
@@SumitoMedia Thats actually really well said sumito, having a healty relation with numbers is really hard these days when we dont judge each other by what we actually produce, but rather if we have a lot of views or not.
I just want to take a moment to mention how much I appreciate your level-headed, objective takes on these sorta topics. Whenever something like this happens it seems everyone panics and starts theory-crafting conspiracies, so it's nice to see someone being honest and talking about things as they are while also keeping it funny, lighthearted, and personal.
It is insane that your channel isnt bigger than it is. The production value is on par with these multi-million sub channels. Ive been subbed since you started showing your face through the whole vid (internet historian's first collab with you. I remember the vids when you just showed memes with voice overs. Lol!) Keep it up!
I always appreciate it when a youtuber is talking shop about the business of youtube. The whole thing about adjusting when the algorithm shifts without compromising on brand identity
Seriously, I had no idea RUclipsrs were complaining about more things. Dunkey's video was my only indicator, and I was just like "Yeah dawg, sweet, love your videos, you do you."
I don't think I've ever commented on one of your videos, but I really do enjoy all of them. The formula you have - taking trending memes and being genuinely funny - is something you do really well (maybe even the best). I don't watch for the memes, I watch for you - and in a competitive environment like youtube, that's the best thing. Anyone can talk about memes and be funny, but nobody can be you. I watch a lot of youtube, and seeing you still be a small-ish creator while there are huge creators with no personality making the most mediocre and repetitive content is baffling. You have a great work ethic and upload schedule and I'm proud of how far you've come. I wish more people knew about you, because I really do think that you're one of the funniest youtubers on the website. Great video man, keep it up! ily
This is a little off the path, but I used to be a podcaster. Not successful in the slightest which is why I stopped, but I also stopped because it started to effect my friendships. Now I’m an author, a medium where I can be creative, have control over my product, and not hurt any friendships I have since it’s solely my activity. I can understand burnout, and I can understand quitting something for the good of your social life and social health.
Just FYI Hayao Miyazaki is 83, I didn't realize that until a few weeks ago when The Boy and the Heron came out and someone said it was his last movie and I thought back to when I was in highschool and Spirited Away was his "last movie." Crazy, huh? I'd also guess he was late 60s
When I first subscribed, I was just curious to know one of the select few people who met Internet Historian in person. I gotta admit, over time I have found myself finding a meme/meme format and then waiting to find your video on my feed. You're like an actually entertaining version of Know Your Meme/LIMC. Btw I live in India and much love from the subcontinent ❤
Sumiomedia is my favorite RUclips channel. I check every week for a new upload. Imagine my shock when I saw today that I wasn't subscribed. I was sure I had subscribed at least a year ago.
I think they might believe its gonna be a very rough year and it will be more benefitial for their companies (those creators named are all basically CEOs of a media company) if they stepped into the background and did additional stuff while their gang continues the main grind. So yeah, i agree with your statements that almost all of them don't really quit from RUclips entirely, and i think that's by design to have a side-hustle they themselves helm so it is efficient and allows them to move in two areas at the same time. Smart.
Hey man, for what it's worth I enjoy your content no matter how sporadic. Your chit chat style is chill and informative. Just stay positive and do what makes you happy, wherever that career path may take you. Peace!
if all the good youtubers are leaving, then you are definitely going to stay
BOOM. roasted
Yeah but That JoJo hairdo though
GOTTEM
😂😂😂😂 bruh
If that's the case then I'm surprised Linus stepped back at all.
nice to see someone that actually points out that most of these people who "retire" are just stepping back a bit, and its not like they Thanos snap out of here.
*unless they were mentioned in a Hbomberguy video*
he's finally quit to start a vending machine company;-;
Turnip farm*
Good, I want a Sumito brand vending machine
ai will steal that job
he'll be replaced by a vending machine vending machine
@@half_real It's vending machines all the way down
Ok but the Gengar necklace goes hard

Oh, you are definitely NOT allowed to leave
The clickbait would have got me if I didn't know about the trend of big creators retiring. Well played!
Exactly...
The new meta
King of fake quitting clickbait is Scotty Kilmer.

I'm not a big commenter, but I do appreciate your content and I'm happy you're not retiring I was worried.
I'm 31 and still have all of my teenage years ahead of me to say Gam*r, Sumito.
I now understand dunkey's video. Thanks from the non-twitter world dude!

I appreciate the time you took to discuss this so thoroughly. I didn’t consider some of the factors you brought up. Happy Day.
Sorry to hear you're staying, Sumito

Great perspective. You're a legend Sumet.

Wtf gave Sumito his new work ethic??? A bloody mystery of the ages.
Good work for staying in the grind - you definitely deserve a higher sub count for the quality and production value of your content.

Sumito please don’t “leave” I subscribed like 3 days ago
I had a genuine moment of “I hope he’s joking” when I saw the thumbnail.
Sumiomedia is my favorite RUclips channel. I check every week for a new upload. Imagine my shock when I saw today that I wasn't subscribed. I was sure I had subscribed at least a year ago.
Sumito will leave when Mr. Beast does.
"Neither can quite RUclips while the other survives."
Memeing at the beginning about a subject then go into an incredibly detailed/serious breakdown of the subject?
Sign me tf up
I appreciate you, Sumito. Your videos always bring my giggles through the worst of my life.
I have that same tokyo shirt. Very good video! You have interesting insight on the topic a lot of people are saying the same stuff about.
You made way too much sense in this video, my brain can't handle this, need more meme . Love you bruh keep going
Loved your explanation, hoping this is still enjoyable for you and will be for the foreseeable future.
The new haircut really screams la hipster
I could listen to you talk about literally anything and just be happy to see that you uploaded another video for me to click on
I got scared seeing the "shpeaceu" notification..
The thumbnail shared the shit out of me god damn
I was nervous for the entire video until you finally said you didn't see yourself stopping anytime soon
I was just enthralled by your haircut, the wave king
Jesus, I thought this was a video suicide note
Do your thing girl.
This is actually very insightful and sincere, sumito. All the success for you dude!
Very glad youre sticking around the plat form, love your stuff...
Hayao Miyazaki is 83
Serious talking sumito is actually very entertaining
I always appreciate that Sumito keeps it real
The fact you say Ray William Johnson and say people need a regular job was funny as hell😂
so glad he's finally pursuing his dream of putting the first vending machine on mars
my favorite Vtuber: Pomu rainpuff, is retiring next week and honestly this video is helping me a bit to process the pain.
Thank you Sumito.
Internet Historian and Frederick Knudsen upload way less than those retired guys lol
Don’t retire sumito… I love your channel and I love you and IH. Awesome duo
thanks for your video on the new york tunnels. it was really informative
You better not quit! You're finally uploading on the regular.
dont scare me sumito
Clicked expecting memes about people retiring stayed for a real from the heart reflection on people living as content creators
making your laugh in the intro sound exactly like your intro music was a very artistic touch
"Only the dead have seen the end of their RUclips career." - Some greek, probably
Dude finally hit the paint brush arch
I know it is a lot of work, but I love how much you are uploading Sumito!
I just gotta say man, I love your style of content so much! It's just such a goddamn vibe. And always a great sendoff to a day

I love seeing these uploads all the more often
Thanks!
In the first 25 seconds, I was like... this is why I love this guy.
I genuinely got worried you were going to quit when I read the video title. We couldn't handle such a loss.
Keep going man! I love your stuff. ❤
The green screen pic on the community post was too real lmao
Well said dude!
Well said sue-met. Tom Scott is big because of that x factor that ensures a level of quality
Sumito boutta triple backflip his way to the top
Your next upload better be titled "Top 10 Fortnite Gyatts" or we riot.
So sad to see you go Sumito ! Anyway, see you in a week !
5:14 it’s gotta be the grind. Just doing (basically) the same thing over and over. Just like you said. Totally agree
dont worry sumito will return on his alt SomeOrdinaryGamers channel
I Appreciate Your Content and your the best Looking Guy on RUclips and That's from A Straight Man...

Im going to miss you SumitoMedia, will mis u.
That Gengar chain you’ve got is awesome
When sumito hearts a comment put up 2 minutes after yours hurts more than I thought it would
Wow, hit's deep if a video is not ended with the infamous "whamy" we all know and love
Nice video on that topic :)
Sumito, you aren't a knock-off Walmart brand of another youtuber. You're a knock-off gas station clerk of another youtuber.
Love you bad, momo.
This was a really informative video and I appreciate your insight into this job. Good luck with starting your new vending machine company!
That's the spirit!

You nearly had me there sumito, thought we'd never get to see another meme mail, oh wait...
I always talk shit but I have notifications on, and I watch every video.
you scared the shit out of me. I felt like i lost too many parasocial relationships this month i dont wanna lose this as well haha
Happy you're not retiring bro! ✌
You can't go! Where else will I get my slightly above average semi-consistent meme updates?
Sumit, don't you have to be on top to retire on top?
I got a theory that Tom Scott is in talks with BBC or ITV for a presenter gig on an educational show.
