Clean clothes are a basic human right!
Navjot Sawhney created the ‘Divya’ aka ‪@TheWashingMachineProject‬ to allow those living in poverty to be able to wash their clothes more easily. This hand-cranked washing machine has traveled to Iraq to distribute the low-cost device to refugees.
They are created in the UK and sent to those without access to electricity and water - who would otherwise need to wash clothes by hand. It is thought an estimated 70% of the world’s population does not have access to electric washing machines.

What a sad sign that this video has had less than 1500 views in a year whilst silly “influencers” command millions of views. Such a brilliant innovative idea. I’m an old British woman who has all modern appliances but I can still remember in my childhood my mother struggling to handwash clothes and she had electricity and a gas water boiler. This stands along with the wind-up torch radio invented back in the 90s. Keep up the great work.

Merci infiniment de vous êtes intéressé au sort de millions de femmes et d'enfants filles à travers le monde, qui s'épuisent à laver de linge familial à la main. Je vis à Mayotte dans l'océan indien et toutes les femmes et gamines des familles comoriennes qui habitent dans des bangas en tôles, sans eau et sans électricité vivent cet effort. Comment faire venir votre invention jusqu' ici ??? Ça serait le rêve !!!! 🙏🙏🙏
