Love the lessons... I am learning a lot. A little note about your end notes regarding tolerances; Your dimension for the big gear hub diameter was accidentally 15.8 and not 14.8. I can't wait for your lesson on helical gears!

Amazing lesson!! I've always was fascinated by gears, when I used LEGO. Like how when one gear moved clockwise the other one moves counterclockwise, and speed and torque being inversely proportional. Never knew so much math went into gears!!! That is SO cool! By the way, at the end of the video you were talking about tolerances, but the reason yours was hardly working is at 29:53 you made it 15.8 instead of 14.8! No wonder it was so tight!! Thanks so much Paul for all you do! Rather than I am legend, YOU are legend, Paul!!

great lesson and wonderfull plugin! From experience I made chamfers on both the gearholes and the posts to simplify sliding these on!

Minor nit: when you measure the diameter of the gear, you measure from the top left of the left spoke to the top right of the right spoke. This doesn't quite measure the diameter, as your line doesn't go through the center. If you had measured from the top-left of the left spoke to the bottom-right of the right spoke you would have measured symmetric points and found a diameter not of 77.947 but exactly 78.0.

Great lesson !!!! Thanks to you Paul I am starting to feel pretty comfortable with fusion 360 and cura. I have been able to successfully print out all lesson files and they turned out great !!!!! When printing the nuts and bolts I had to tweak about four settings in cura and the nuts and bolts fit together very well. You are the best teacher on youtube and you and yours take care and GOD bless and be very safe and well !!!!!!

Great lesson Paul! I fell behind watching all of the videos. I went back to work after being retired for 5 years. My old boss called me and made an offer I couldn’t refuse. It feels good to be back in the mix. I’m a little rusty with my PLC programming but I’m sure it will come back to me.

Thanks Paul! Coming from a strictly software background, I am very happy to be still standing. Took awhile to finish this lesson. Yet, I am grateful for the material presented in a way that concepts are understood and emphasized. Cura SW gave me an error during slice. I hope someone who had this problem could shed some light on this issue....
    Thanks again!

Fun project thanks. I need to try again with some more tolerance. The large gear was a little tight. Just a little sanding and it was great. The small gear was much tighter and actually took a bit more sanding.
I tried flipping them over and it didn't seem to matter.
Doing good and meshes nice with just that little bit of sanding.

btw any chance we'll be seeing bevel gears (or worm gears) in the coming lessons...
(only one thumbs up although you deserve at least 10x...) Keep up the great work.

Tea is on my approved beverage list. Please tell me you do not put sugar in it though. I very much enjoy unsweetened tea. I have a variety of teas I enjoy, just for me tend to drink more coffee. Hey, thanks for the Patreon, really appreciate that!

Hi Paul- I noticed my gear latches to the Z Y plane-as if standing up. How can I change it to the X Y plane-as if laying down. I noticed you do not select "create sketch" but go straight to "create gear" When I do that and select my parameters it goes straight to the Y Z plane instead of laying down on X Y plane-thanks

Yes, I had the exact same problem but my "C" drive where fusion 360 is located is very low on space so maybe the file space for c++ version was too large to load. I also used the python version. It works great

When Paul instantioned the SpurGear his default Root Fillet Radius is 1.588. Mine is 2.000. When I make all his recommended changes I get a warning that the max Root Fillet Radius is too large. It must be less than 1.7712. I was able to change to 1.588 but needed to yankey-doodle with the entry to get it to take the new number.

Thanks Alot Paul, I've been enjoying your Lessons alot, I'm having issues with my addins, If I click the c++ spur gear, the window will just disappear, and nothing happens, if I go and check the Create menu, It won't show spur gear. I restarted the software, and the computer. It still did not show anything.

Paul ..... i try to insert that Spur Gear script, but it is not in the Create, Solid menu and does not work no voila 🙂 haha
i think that rubbish autodesk again removed something from the free version of Fusion 360,
they are sick for every $$$ they lost from this free version, already almost empty of functionality
I am sick of this autodesk idiots, the same when i login to that Windows rubbish ....
In what rubbish world we are living, this psychopathic mafia surrounds us everywhere
When we close f360 it takes few minutes to close, because autodesk steals our creativity to itself, even when we export to our local disk ....
they also steal everything we have created, autodesk is just a thief of our creativity,
but they limits the functionality of this f360, even if it is already almost empty application worth little like zero ....
🙂i will finished all your f360 tutorial, but after that i am switching back to my Linux and FreeCAD ....
thanks for your time to make this interesting tut ....
