Fantastic Elevator & Building Andrew! Thank You! By the way I really enjoy your videos. I have a strong interest in older buildings & "Urban Archaeology". Thanks to your videos, I have a growing appreciation, knowledge, and interest for these amazing machines.
This was the building that started my love of elevators, I was an operator here as my first job out of high school in 1999.. any other questions, feel free to ask.. they were so much fun to ride and operate.
I did some office network wiring in that building back in the late 70's. At that time, the elevator operators were still working there. This *may* have been the last building in St. Paul to use operators, and was certainly *one* of the last.
Oh cool I noticed the inside button panal was an innovation universal square buttons which is only really common in ikea stores because I never saw these anywhere else I only saw the universal circle buttons
Now this is what I call an amazing elevator, and for historic buildings in the 21st Century, it's about time they do quality restorations on nice elevators rather than make them plain. However, the only thing I think they should have done was go with CJ Anderson fixtures instead of Innovation. Also, were 15 and 16 open or closed?
Gary Beltz Minnesota Elevator did the mod. It's in the title, there's a graphic right in the beginning of the video, and that's Steve from Minnesota Elevator giving the tour.
I was wondering what the slight tapping was as the elevator is moving I think thats coming from the ropes for where the counterweight is connected because the ropes tap the glass at times
Not a bad mod at all, but it is still a shame to see vintage manually controlled Haughtons modernized. Hopefully the two that were left unmodernized are still functional!

+mschafe132 AWESOME!!!
was it glass or cage inside?
+Ham549 Actually the cabs look identical (with the glass windows). The biggest change is the automatic doors instead of the sliding gate it had.
they have a card reader. view from the top is excellent. nice piece of history.

They are so quiet and smooth!
They are amazing!
What an amazing modernization for MEI
It was
I think these are very cool elevators at the Pioneer Endicott Building!!!
Awesome elevator. I am releasing an elevator video tomorrow.
I guess this is an equivalent to the Grace Whittel building in SF
this is a very amazing elevator
I love it
That spiral staircase is great
Oh cool I noticed the inside button panal was an innovation universal square buttons which is only really common in ikea stores because I never saw these anywhere else I only saw the universal circle buttons
Awesome.
Its a shame that the original elevators arent working anymore it would be so epic to see what these looked like when you had to use the hand crank
They did a great mod. They are actually the original cabs.
Reminds me on the elevator scene in bladerunner
Very nice
And they have modern lifts and i love modern things
Gonna have video of the old ones?
I highly doubt it
It looks like they modernised two and kept the other two original.

I wonder what the rents are in that building?
Can you try to do an elevaTOUR of the Capella Tower in Minneapolis MN? and the us bank stadium when its done?
I will Subscribe if you do this.
US Bank Stadium... I bet he'd consider it IF he happens to be in town and you fork out the $209 MINIMUM for a Vikings footsie ball ticket... lol

I like that lantern.
Are these an Otis mod? The floor passing chime sounds like pre series 5 but the directional chime is unique.
If you look at the manual car switch, it used to be a Haughton.
I was referring to the modernization.

Not sure
So is the one with the gate are those a still original and if so did u ride them
+PAelevators I have ben at a mansion with a gated elevator! Really old fixtures! You can watch both videos of it at my RUclips channel!
Do there have MEI machines or something like Torin or imperial electric?
I think Holister Whitney.
I think this is an innovation chime
Did this use to be a hotel?
I am not sure.
love it
Why did you not go down to 1?
WHAT ARE THOSE LIGHTS CALLED? The lights on the outside that tell you when the car has arrived.
Hall Lanterns
@@Ih8kone Google lantern, come back and tell me that's what pops up.
Nice
You sound kinda tired in the video
Also, does the old one still work?
I Have Been In A Minnesota Elevator!
I've been on a Minnesota freight elevator and that's it
You should have filmed the unmodified one.
Old one is not working.
Nice lantern
Why did you go with an employee in this video? And are floors 15 and 16 locked? If not, then why did you not go past the 14th floor.
litterally the only bad minnesota elevator is my old apartment's elevator,
now i live in a house
I love mei

it used to be an hotel
The elevator skipped the 3rd floor despite the 3rd floor button being pressed
Hmmm... I was under the impression they were going to leave these original. The mod is beautiful, though...
KONE are a company of lifts
I bet the old elevators are either completly defunct or more likely theyre just turned off in favor of the modern automatic elevators
They still run.
😃
From my research, I think these elevators may have been water hydraulic when they were installed.
Please diselducy dont record old elevators and never record a OTIS lift record only KONE lifts and escalators
+Gabriela Sánchez Olguín One comment is not going to make in only film what you want
kone is sh!T old elevators are cool
+Gabriela Sánchez Olguín WTF???
***** They are Not "Shit" its just that Kone USA does not build as good as other countries
I wonder why
