A couple of things I also consider are the materials of the bodies and the method of manufacture. The Jinhao is injected plastic as opposed to Ranga being hand-turned ebonite. The work involved with a Ranga is far more than the cheap, machine-made Jinhao.

I agree. I have an Asvine black forest pen that has a metal body that just gives a really nice sturdy feel and look.

I agree with you. This particular Ranga is an acrylic version, but I still think it is a turned pen.

Nice comparison Gary. I myself have the 9019 in Transparent Olive Green with a Fine Heartbeat nib, & the Ranga 5 in P24 Black/White/Green Swirl Ebonite with a #8 Titanium Bock Fine nib. I have only 3 pens with Titanium nibs, but they definitely write different than the traditional steel or gold nibs. I think you might like a model 5 with the larger #8 nib (not sure what it would cost in AU$'s, but mine cost $274.00 USD). At the time I ordered mine, the Titanium nib was the only #8 size option, there was no steel version available. Another large pen to compare would be the Wing Sung/Junlai 630 with a #8 nib. The Ranga definitely dwarfs all the other pens in my collection!!

Thanks. Not sure when I’ll be looking at getting my next Ranga, chances are it won’t be until next year, as I have my eyes on a number of other pens for this year.

Always wanted a Ranga, but each time I visit their web site I become overwhelm an confused. Maybe time to explore again.
Have you compared theJinhao vs Jinhao 9019? If not that would be fun.

I’ll be doing a series of comparisons over the coming months, I don’t want to have too many too close together.

I keep holding off on getting a Ranga, any Ranga. I don't know why. They seem to be excellent pens. I do think The Hulk should have a #8 nib. It is certainly worthy of having one.
As for the 9019 I have espoused the joy of this pen to other reviewers and they agree it is a great pen. The nib for me is a solid writer. Thankfully I have not had any hard starts.
I wonder if you could do a comparison between #8 nibs from Jinhao, Hong Dian, and Wing Sung. I think that would be a great posting.
I have the 9019, the 9016, and the 9013. All are excellent, but if I have to rank them, I would choose the 9019 at #3 only for the reason of the section width. My hands are not large. However, I do not get writer's cramp. I think of it as an adjustment to the width rather than it being uncomfortable.
    Great comparison, Garry.

      Thanks.
      I’m enjoying the Jinhao.
I’ve recorded a video today comparing the wing sung 630 against a Conklin All American.
I may need to so a PIU month of large pens.

Can you tell me is there a black drawing ink wat can be used in a fountainpen.and when the ink is dry on the paper this ink is water resistant? Without destroying the fountainpen?

I don't really use black inks, or permanent inks.
I think I've heard people talk about Platinum Carbon Black, so that may be worth you doing some investigation into to see if it meets your needs.
