Yes this was the real Johnny Winter the way he was with this great band!! You couldn't hear a more powerful blues than this because there was no band or 2 guitarist that ever did anything like this. Truely they were one of a kind. Johnny and Rick were it in my opinion.
Johnny Winter: Guitars, Vocals | Rick Derringer: Guitar | Randy Jo Hobbs: Bass | Bobby Caldwell: Drums. GREAT SOUND! The blend of the guitars of Johnny and Rick is magic, and their shared cadenza is a Tour de Force. * Songwriter Riley King is B.B. King. Johnny Winter And, 'Live at the Fillmore East, 10/3/70'.
I remember seeing Johnny at the exit inn in Nashville once many years ago. While everyone was waiting for them to come out, a big Ole roadie let everyone know, in no uncertain terms, that when Johnny comes out, everybody back the f up and don't nobody touch him. At which point I yelled out, "who the hell does he think he is, the messiah or something"? So out he comes, what a little fella, smiling, laughing, enjoying himself and as he nears me, I step out, grab him around his upper arm,(my hand going completely around his whole bicep, and overlapped at that. Skinny little guy,) and tell him, "kick my ass Johnny Winter", musically speaking of course, at which point another big Ole boy, runs up, shoves me against the wall, all the while Johnny never lost that grin. He played songs about as long as this one here, ten to twenty minutes each, without ever hitting the same lick twice. Awesome show! No shit R. I. P. Legends never really die, they just go away for awhile.
Great story :) I wonder how many recordings are stuffed away with concerts like these. I came across a concert of JDW, muddy and james cotton only to see it being deleted weeks after. :,(
Thanx so much 4 uploading this title - near all JW recordings on YT suffer from poor sound quality; with the exception of this great recording, though. Well done!
Johnny Winter and live different Show at Fillmore East That's what my ears are telling me thank you Very much enjoyed it will listen to it again and again.
I've got to add this to the other songs off the 'And Live' album, to make a complete live album with the uncut songs, and the ones not on here from Pirate's World.... Thanks for posting this gem
The commission of being a poet laureate bestowed by a cultural arts board but the authentic poet laureate and ethnic musicilogists follows the dictates of his heart and soul that is Johnny and Edgar Music Legacy. His music hero Muddy Waters a trailblazer in Delta Blues and an honor a privilage a pleasure to rediscover his music a cultural attache like myself a modicum of what Johnny and Edgar Winter bestowed as musical contributors and ethnomusicologists and historians. God bless.
Use to have this tune live from the Aragon in Chicago, it was the very best ever, but it was taken off You Tube. This is as close as I can find to that recording. Please soemone upload the Aragon one again, it is just fantastic. Thx.
Which was recorded first, this or the one on the Johnny Winter And live album ? Whatever, it's the same line up, same great chemistry and I can hear familiar ideas being developed. I'm guessing both versions of this blues were recorded at the same venue, either Billy Graham's Filmore East or Pirate's World Florida? Whatever - Just Great. I absolutely thrashed the live album, thanks fo unloading this.

derringer complimented johnny better than anyone he ever played with! I really think this was Johnnys best Band for sure! Rick is so underrated!
Yes, Johnny and Rick were a force to reckon with.
(Underated again.???)
Rick is a great producer too. He's helped so many other artists discover new avenues for their sound.

It's My Own Fault not listen more
How much time between this recording and the other live album? So much of the content is identical so they had it worked out.
How do y’all feel the difference between delta, and Texas blues players?
Cool riff at 16:44
Yes, that was hot. Circular.
it'll take AI a while before it can do this.
