If you can find this gun, BUY IT! Just took it to the range yesterday and this is an excellent firearm. Couldn’t miss with it straight out of the box without any adjustment. Easier than my Hellcat to shoot. Great gun. Will be edc over my Hellcat
My dad got one today for 469….lol ported and all it’s deff a smoking deal
I had to raise the sight 10 clicks but then it was great.
Of course they are EXCELLENT, they are actually Armscor, which is from the Philippines. In the Philippines, the 1911 is a RELIGION.
A 1911 with a captive recoil spring and no barrel bushing. Sold!
All the benefits, none of the drawbacks. Sold.
👍
TGWPTPDTpmtw -340+.'T"dt,
im 5'2" and 200lbs ... i want this gun, it speaks to me lol
Just one problem that short barrel on a 45 is going to have so much recoll u can't do follow up shots.I have a 1911 with that barrel.
@@TheRealZJE313 thats a valid point. also have to be careful choosing ammo for short 45s as they have some trouble with expansion at the lower velocity. still looks like a neat gun though.
@@allenmoto291allenyother8 I put all that expansion ammo up I just use Underwood extreme penetrator ammo in my carry gun and at the rang I just use FMJ.
@@TheRealZJE313 I'm sure it doesn't have that much recoil, not if you have large wrists
@@chaboi7 yes it do even if u do have large wrists.remember 45 was designed on a 5in barrel if u go look at some old WW2 training videos they are just usein one hand shootin.that's because on a 5in barrel a 45 have the recoll of a 9mm.so if u thinking about any 45 don't get it no lower than a 4in barrel
Love that Train Of Consequences intro!!!
Copy that
That little thing holds 10 rounds of .45?? 😱😱
Too thick to carry
@@brandonjohnson2493 I can assure you .45 lovers would still carry it
@@darylhaynes1025 why
It rivals many 9mm and 380 conceald carry pistols
That's a lot of bang in you're pocket for the money and very customizable I'm loving the 1911/2011 style pistols that RIA offers and I'm loving there revolvers aswell especially for new gun owners to practice with starting out I'm becoming a big fan
Reminds me of the Para Ordnance P10-45 Warthog from back in the day. I'm absolutely gonna have to look into this one. Sub-compact 1911 in .45 ACP with 10+1... What's not to love? If it performs like my RIA 1911's I will have this in my EDC rotation. I honestly can't wait to see the range review on this one. Nice job GB.
@Frank Bonazza III The grip looks a bit stumpy, but I won't cry about 10+1 seeing most subcompact .45's only give you 5+1 to 7+1. This may be a winner.
@Frank Bonazza III Absolutely. A half inch longer grip wouldn't hurt.even if it was just slimmed down a hair and still had 10, but as you said 12+1 would be nice. Like you I love some 1911's. I have three in my carry rotation, two .45's and a 10mm. I need to get my hands on this one to find out if there will be a fourth. LOL! Stay frosty brother!
@Frank Bonazza III I have a Para-Ordinance P-14-45. Bought about 1983.
@Frank Bonazza III Absolutely agree. That being said I'm not a 1911 9mm fan. Call me old school. Ok I'm just old. .45 ACP or bust in a 1911, but a 12 or 14+1 1911 in 9mm this size could convert me real fast. LOL! As always stay frosty brother.
@Frank Bonazza III Have the second mag come with a +2 extension with pinky support. Sold!
thank you for your video! i just now watched it again and you confirmed that i can order a mag from ria for my llama. i knew i'd seen the llama mag in an ria somewhere, but i am getting older and don't trust my memory as much as i used to. i love your videos as you are honest and know what you're doing and talking about, unlike many others.
Maddy, be ready for this one. It sure looks like a kicker. 😳😎
Not really much different than a full size 1911, it is heavy with the metal frame instead of plastic.
With respect to the grip, it's sort of like a G-30 with a flush 9 round mag. Thanks for this well presented and detailed review.
they need a 12 round or a pinky rest
track1994 or both
I agree both!
P10 warthog 13 round mags can be modified to work
I just fired one of these today, absolutely funky feeling!!! Ported barrel on something this short was cool!
Immediately thought of the Para Warthog. Nice.
Looks exactly like my night hawg and it's the only pistol out of 38 pistols that never had a malfunction out of thousands of rounds.
Armscor hired many of the Para Ordinance engineers after Para went under
Thought the same when I saw the thumbnail, Drew Hood explained the reason easy enough. Love me a double stack Para. Have a full size double stack that’s topped with a 16” Mech Tech carbine (from back in the day) Hard to beat a 14 round 16” 45ACP carbine. Have quite a few Para’s. One being the “Expert Carry” which is a full size frame, with a compact barrel/slide (housed a 3” match barrel) Carry it daily, accurate as can be. Just wish it had night sights in it.
Made in the Philippines i love this gun...
yes
All I would want is a little pink grip extension. My everyday carry is a G26 and it this exact same size. I had to add the pinky extension to make it comfortable to grip and shoot.
There will be baseplate mods forthcoming I'm sure.
I can’t wait.
I have one and love it. I cleaned it before firing and had no problems after 300 rounds other then three failures to feed. Dont think i was holding tight enough. enough. My bad. Great gun. 😮
This is going to garner some interest and then they're going to end up doing variants of this - at least one made from a lighter material and one with a pic rail
Positive changes in this model Gun will be well received & increase sales, IMO.
I’m excited to see it here in the Philippines.
i laughed my ass off when i saw this!! that thing looks crazy!
My son got me one awhile ago for my 56th birthday. It's difficult to purchase additional magazines and my Para Ordnance double stack magazines do not fit on this. It's an awesome monster as a pocket gun. Most people pocket a 22 or 380 meanwhile I have a 45 ACP in my front pocket 😉
LLAMA made this exact same gun back in the late 90s called the Mini Maxx, I can't believe people think that this is a new concept.
Llama made these for years. These look like RIA improved on the design. Definitely going to look into getting one
Para Ordnance has also made the Warthog for a while, almost identical.
I thought Para went out of business years ago
@@GBGuns Remington bought Para
Isn't that the same thing? Remington sort of absorbs and kills brands. Bushmaster...Tapco....
@@GBGuns yeah kinda
I like the looks of this gun except for one thing. The bottom of the mag needs a baseplate with another finger groove for your pinky finger.
I have the full size RIA double stack 45 (14+1) and love it, this 10+1 little brother will need to be added to the family! LOL
Sweet !!! … This will compliment my ATI FX45 Fatboy nicely !!!
My Sti Guardian 2011 has a cut out where the spring is exposed too. I have had it a few years now and it has never been a problem.
I will be getting one of these. I wanted a warthog before Freedom Group took over para and merged them with Remington. I was on Remingtons sight the other day and they dont have the double stacks on the site anymore which sucks because I was looking to get the R1 Recon.
Can't wait for this model in 9mm
Same here.
Wait no more! The 9 mm fat-mini is here this year. Look around.
I'd like to see a 12 rnd mag w/additional length for better grip
Para Ordinance P 12 magazines can be modified to work in the BBR 3.10. I bought 4 new P 12 mags for $ 50. Have 5 10 round mags and installed Pearce pinky extensions. Looking forward to braking it in. Right now breaking in my RIA 1911 compact. Super accurate! 100 rds thru it so far. Having failures to fully going into battery and failure to load. Any ideas ? Just put more rounds thru it to break it in? Using the 7 round mag that came with and a Kimber mag. Thanks.
i noticed its got fiber optic front sight , my understanding of that is the barrel heat melts them, so they come out with steel sight on newer ones
I like it! I like it being a double stack, definitely better than some other micro 1911's.
Not many double stack 1911 subcompacts out there. Sold yes please
Looks like a Funko Pop figure of a 1911
REALLY NICE REALLY
I have to say those GB Guns grips are pretty BA! The only Rock Island in my safe o 'guns is also the only 1911 that I will take out into the White Mountains when I go hiking with my daughter (in bear / moose territory). None other than the RI Ultra FS HC! If 16 + 1 rnds of 10mm doesn't stop something ........ it's cause it's already dead LOL Actually your tabletop & range video is a big part of why I bought it in the first place. RI makes some seriously awesome firearms, including their semi-12 ga's, but this mini powerhouse is pretty innovative! Maybe their next 1911 will be a 7 + 1 of .454 Casull. Hey, it could happen 😁
i have the og- the llama minimax ii, and it rocks the island. seriously, it was one of llama's best designs and built to their highest standards. rock island did well adopting both it and the micro-max.
Nice and compact! Can’t wait to see you shoot it!!!
Taurus PT111 G2 9MM paid $360 for it in 2015 came with a lifetime warranty Two 12 Round Double Stacked Magazines loaded with Hornady Critical duty 135 gr +P Ammo not one single issue with it...Taurus makes some of the Very best 9 & 10MM & 40 caliber hand guns at any price...
This pistol is for up close self defense and for that purpose it can be very effective i love it i want 2 of these babies
I just picked one up. All it needs is new sights, an ambi safety, and +1 'stendos( i have this weird thing with wanting 1 over a multiple of 5, so 6, 11,16,21,ect. And they balance out the nose heavy weight) oh and i need to black out the hood of the barrel.
Ive been waiting for these for years; since they were called the " cs warrior ". Rock island makes awesome, high quality 1911s that can compete with other modern designs at prices comparable to combat tuperware
RIA should have made the handle a bit longer and add another 2 rounds.that will be the best 1911 made..
My BBR 45 jammed all the time no matter what ammo I put thru it. Sent it back to the manufacture twice and finally I just gave up on it. I used it for my CC and needed more reliability due to the high crime areas i have to go into. Don't need something jamming in a gun fight. I already had to pull my weapon once this year at the scene of an accident where one party was threatening to shoot the other party and I did not feel the confidence I normally feel. Went back to a glock 19x until my new Springfield XDM Elite 45acp OSP came. Springfield restored my confidence.
That's very nice. I would prefer everything to be melted and bobbed though, like it is on Para-Ordnance model "Carry". Bobbed and rounded grip safety, and a bobbed hammer, and all edges smoothed.
8:47 he's not kidding, I mag dumped one of these one time for fun on my friends property and I was presently surprised how fast and easy it was. But this one was the second version with the ported barrel, so it was more controllable.
Where have I been how did I miss this little beauty?
Nice gun, i will wait for the 9mm for this.
In case you missed it, That 9mm you’re waiting for in the Rock Island ‘fat-mini’ 1911was introduced at 2022 shot show. Look around for it now.
Reminds me of my ATI FATBOY , has been great . Ty for video
I love this. This means that it will be too expensive.
So true lol.
😣 its such a beauty
I had a local Rock Island dealer look it up and they said $599.
I got it for 6 with Sam.
@@OKstang77 it's like $550, that's a deal
The pistol at the opening of the video made me think, "If you had 2 of those, you could go as The Shadow!"
I had a Detonics .45 ca. About that small like 25 years ago, gave it to a cousin who has since passed away.
I bought one of these pistols couple months ago I've heard that they're supposed to be the smallest 1911 in production it feels really good in my hand I haven't fired you yet I'm sure it's going to kick my ass just a very cool gun very well built
Wish they would make a competitor to the BUL SAS II UL
It almost looks like one of the discontinued full-perimeter S&A magwells for the Para-Ordnance P13 might fit. You had to cutaway part of the frame for those, giving it a stepped look. RIA probably used the longer mainspring housing so they could use an OACP-length spring, instead of the shorter P10/P12 mainspring.
P14 mags fit unmodified.
I put the this 3" barrel and slide on a full size frame ! 2 8s and 2 10s good quality mags !
That gun is PHAT!
Its a beautifull design i really would love to own one just like it
Muscle memory with regards to small grip. I was thinking it before he mentioned it. I've a 9mm Kel-Tec P11. After a few sessions (one outting):on the range adapting to smaller grip not much an issue. My opinion not a bad platform for EDC/CQB situations. I'm strongly considering RIA &/or Para-Arms compact double stack. As option not necessarily replacement to my KT. My Department issued S&W M-P 45 is decent Service Weapon but as such not as concealable. In my opinion. I'm not a big individual (well not vertically at least) but I think this design system more manageable to switch to should I find myself being forced from un-armed to more lethal method where there's no where to evade.
I've got to fire one of these, felt weird. Wish I had a video of it, But I did get one of the SKS that day.
I have the old Para Ordnance P-10, which is very similar. So much that the mags for this particular Rock Island pistol, some parts interchange. Had trouble finding Para parts so I figured I'd give it a shot. So far everything I ordered from Rock Island fits and functions. Will be buying a Rock Island soon though. I think the steel frame would feel better to shoot than the Para aluminum.
Love it!
They sent you a defective gun with only half a handle.
Lol .its a nice pocket carry.like it
I’m going to have to ROLL WITH THIS ROCK!!!!!
I've said it before but anyone who has Train of Consequences as their intro music is obviously a badass, so thank you Graham, badass. Nice little pistol, I want to believe that Rock Island can make a good functional 1911 but I just cant bring myself to trust a $300 1911 thats all, must be a subconscious thing, so if you can prove me wrong I'd very much appreciate it. Assuming youre not limpwristing, how's the reliability on that hog?
Not $300. It is MSRP $699
@@superezbz Fair enough my bad for associating RI with low quality i guess, you know if its a cast frame, billet or forged?
@@macdiller6766 I believe they are cast. But the best part is they moved manufacturing from the Philippines to USA.
Great, interesting, and informative review! Thank you!
Thank you and welcome to GBGuns!
Rack the slide back and you will see a small hole in the guide rod stick a paper clip in it then disassemble the weapon as normal. That will capture the recoil spring assembly and you won't have to fight it .
this is practically a 1911 version of the Glock 30
Please do repost after you have run a couple thousand rounds through this gun. I had a P10 that performed flawlessly through the first 300 rounds or so, then it started locking back even with rounds remaining in the magazine. Tried different mags. Tried doctoring the detent plunger and making a deep indent in the slide lock for the plunger to hold it more securely. Tried all sorts of stuff, and the only thing that helped was replacing the recoil spring every 300 rounds or so. Like Devildog says below, this gun is almost a dead ringer for the P10-45 and I just want to know that it does not have the same design flaw as the otherwise very cool ParaOrdnance that it is clearly modeled after.
It was a VERY fun gun to shoot. Bucks a bit, yeah! But one does get used to the recoil and it is a very potent little jacket pocket or IWB carry gun. I even carried the P10 in my jeans pocket a few times but it was just a little thick for pocket carry.
Cute. I imagine that short barrel in 45 will make for a lot of unburned powder buildup.
They need to bring this out in 10mm and 357 Sig!! Maybe 9mm for the office workers who can't handle recoil.
Hmm? A very concealable .45 acp..
The only thing is that grip length, not sure I’d like that. It’s a cute little thing though!
💥Nice Review👍its been a while...I've heard from others about an ongoing issue with Reverse Plug Bursting/Malfunction. Have u heard of or encountered this? Tnhx!😎
For this size, I opted for the s&w 457 s. I do own a.45, a 10mm and the 22tcm/9mm 1911s from ria, but this looks almost too small for a .45
Be awesome if they kept the same barrel but extended the grip like the 43x. I'd be in line for that.
It fits the double stack 14 round mags. If that helps.
Its a p10 warthog copy but sadly has extra thickened frame at the grip. It still has the same recoil spring and guide rod and cap breaking every few boxes of .45
I use the para p14 14 round mags in my llama like this. Just trim as small notch on the top back side for the mag.
We have to defend our right to bear arms!! The gun community cannot continue being silent, letting these snowflakes threaten our god given right. Walmart has lost my business. #boycottwalmart
All the RUclips gun community needs to be more vocal. If it wasn't for the 2nd amendment they wouldn't have a channel to do reviews with.
Gillette, Nike, Dick’s, Kroger, Walmart, the whole freaking city of San Francisco, which you wouldn’t want to visit, anyhow, for a large variety of reasons. The NFL and entire MSM, Hollyweird.
Amen brother!!!
I understand and support your views and opinion. This just isn't the platform to do so.
stoutdog: That’s curious. Why not?
Thats a badass gun
I luv the 1911, it works.......all the time! BUT this little puppy is a must. 10+1 makes it a great contender for a good combat handgun. Now if you can hit what you point at, you got something.
Where do I get one????? Yeah, I know.........at the gun store.
Anyone who enjoys shooting enjoys 1911 s. Yeah pretty much !! Added bonus , you will still have your gun if a house fire happens . Great video !
Needs mag extensions in a big way , as it is its gonna flip badly when you shoot it
👍was thinkin the same, another two round would be just enough for u to wrap ur pinky
I have one and shoots beautifully. No more flip than a standard 1911 IMHO. Even in rapid three round drills.
I wish Rock Island would offer aluminum frame 1911's for easier carry.
Wow, that look like semilar to my ati fxfatboy 1911 in 12rd but yours is just a little small grip in 10 round, hmm I wonder if my 12rd mag fits. By the way nice 1911
My llama like this takes 16 round para mags with a slight cut on the top back of the mag. Ten bucks from cdnn sports. Take care.
Spot on with the biker comment!
I got tge iver Johnson 6 in 10mm and love it
Awwww.. It's so adorable :)
The spring showing is normal. It should be a 9mm for better control and there should be longer mags for larger hands. Rock makes a good weapon.
Word of advice to anyone who already owns this BBR, or is contemplating buying one... Check your guide rod after you shoot each magazine.... they loosen and will fall away. The entire guide-rod recoil spring design is FLAWED and needs a serious redesign!
Looks great but that first one u showed is a thing of beauty. Love those grips. U should put those Same grips on that lil one. Can u put an extended mag or pinky extension for 3 finger contact?
How come they dont make a version in 9mm. Is it the dwell timing of a 9mm version? Complexity?
A version in 380 acp would also be awesome
I'll take a double stack 6" 10mm please.
We've covered one of those
My hands too small I'll need to hung the handle with my arms lolm
My Colt 1911 s80 also has exposed blade spring inside the magwell/grip
Love it and very accurate.
How long have you had yours?
@@GBGuns I'm sorry, I had to leave the video and didn't know that I had posted. I don't have this. I have a Para-Ordinance P-14-45. Bought about 1983.
I’m sold. Getting one.
Nice 👍
Para ordance 1st came to mind
I hope they'll have barrel length options for this setup.
I heard they have a ported barrel version that melted the fiber optics so they switched back to standard iron sights. Is this true?
Like the Para Ordnance Hawg
I’m getting one!🔥
GB, great video. I would hope they make an extended mag like the p365 or G26
Para ordinance P14-45 mags should be worth a try. Rock Island did hire many of Paras employees before offering the double stacks
@@lovemym16 Thanks but I have the SAR K2 45 on my short list. I checked there are Para P10, P12, P13 and P14 soe are discontinued.
looks like a para warthog. probably the only 2 small pistols with double stack magazine.
Reminds me of my Detonics back in the early 80's. Very nice looking but remember that short barrel recoil is hell on your wrist.
My issue with these little pistols are they can cause you some bad
habits and aren't enjoyable to shoot.
ATI has one called the Fat Boy that is similar to this pistol. I have the Glock 30 FS as my current EDC. The shooting of that weapon compared to my some other sub compact .45's are day and night. I only own one Glock so no I am not a Fan Boy.
Easily my favorite EDC weapon for my uses.
I do think it has a place but wouldn't say it is an everyday carry weapon.
Semper Fi
this would be a great firearm if the grip wasnt as short as it is if it was a 3/4 to a inch long it would be a much better shooter
