I think this figure sums up these two companies. If you want a well painted, sculpted toon version of a character that feels premium Fans Toys usually nails that. If you want a painted, well sculpted figure with a ton of accessories that’s toon accurate Xtransbots will work. Either way it’s great we all have options. Great versus I agree with every category.
I dont have either but when i did see ft's version i knew i wanted that version, but when i seen their hoist, i knew i wanted the xtb version. Idk if that will be the case once ft releases theirs but thats probably the route i will take since its my initial reaction and i also like to keep my collection diverse company wise.
One thing I still like with the MMC that none of the other companies have done (not even Takara), is how they got the hood of the truck to taper in for robot mode. However it depends which episode you're watching as to whether this is cartoon accurate, as I've seen him like the cartoon model and also drawn with a bulky torso. I'm still undecided if I should pick up the Fanstoys, it's definitely better than XTB but is it enough to justify the cost??
I'd be interested in how the non-toon version of the XTB would fare against the FT. I definitely like the colours of the FT better, but I remember when the toon version of XTB came out I thought the colours were too pale (including the black) compared with the non-toon. The windows were also less-easy to see the components inside, though they weren't the blue that seems to be popular.
I have X-transbots Aegis but, I just picked up Fans Toys Outrider. They're both really good figures and I've been looking and looking at the Fans Toys version and now, I finally picked him up. This one is really close and no matter who you choose, there's really no loser in this vs battle. I'll keep my X-transbots in alt mode while the Fans Toys in robot. I just think the shoulders of Aegis ruins him for me. I just don't like it.
On articulation one thing I would add, I feel like the shoulder gun's articulation is functionally better on the FT, even though with the way you compare they might come out tied. I know XTB has more joints in that gun, but the ball joint on FT gives so many more options to it.

Outrider is on his was to me. I’ll keep XTB for a truck mode, even with the kibble showing through the windows. I feel like this will be deja vu all over again for me when FT releases their version of Hoist!

I'm in the same camp: I like transforming my figures, and transformation/engineering is of the utmost importance to me. Can't wait to get this (FT) Trailbreaker! Been waiting some time, and the transformation is on par with my expectations. They are going in a good direction right now in terms of their designs. Of course, articulation could always be better, but everything else is just SO impressive! Thanks and have a good one!
Fanstoys is still lacking some articulation, Fanstoys please get up to date , if people can compare apache (older fig) with virtus, then it's fair to compare these two, great review
I don't think it matters if the figure is old. What matters is what's fun when transforming. I have the Aegis figure but it's not fun to transform. I may get FansToys.

Man I would have given articulation to FansToys on this one. The elbow bend on FT was a lot closer to 100°+ and X-Transbots was RIGHT at 90°. Also the lack of a waste bend and no front to back on the ankle is a big deal. FT lack of backward articulation at the hip isn't nearly a big deal and it still goes back pretty far and forward all the way. Also the knee articulation backwards is really close to 110° without need of the second joint at the knee and is more that adequate. The only real issue I have is at the shoulder and it wasn't that much difference. Still this is a bit subjective but the elbow difference wasn't really mentioned in this part and should have been. Also each finger has the extra joint for FT and that is super nice to have for posing. I wish they had done an extra joint for the printer finger but overall finger manipulation is more important to me than the shoulders.
This is an instance where I'm sorely tempted to double up on a character just because of how good it looks and how engaging it is to transform. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to Takara's version. Also you're Aegis is really floppy, homie! My copy is actually really tight...spin the XTB QC wheel!
Nice comp. FT always knocks it out the park just the U.S. retail price is just a little much. ShowZ is going to have the best price, I recommend purchasing from there.
Xtb knee is actually triple jointed but 2 lower ones have very little movement. I put some kiki in the leg joints and mine is solid now. Overall the ft certainly looks nice but I am not crazy about the head...just personal preference/aesthetic....but I feel that way about a number of the ft head sculpts. Thanks for the comparison 👍

Or save for something you actually want. Buying something cheap and not getting your moneys worth is not smart it’s counter intuitive. Luckily with these two they are both great options but instead of buying that extra figure buy something that will last and you love…just my thoughts

Fans toys proportions looks better as always but I’m sticking with xtb until Takara’s comes out . Very undecided
Not a big fan of this character or his alt mode so I'm just sticking with the XTB and Ocular Max versions I already have.

FT and it’s not even close! Keeping my XTB for vehicle though I will say I prefer the XTB alt mode but FT wins in every other way for me
