the whole performance is amazing. but when he sings "the dreams you dream" and goes up a bit on the end of dreams just before you? that is so spot on! 0:52
also, when he sings "because" at 0:26. outstanding and, quite frankly, a little eerie!
and lest we forget that little stumble at the beginning. absolutely superb!

This was a night that I WILL NEVER FORGET! I was & will remain spellbound, Back then I was 15 years old. Now at 60 I have remained a devoute Jim Bailey follower & am happy to say that because of his mgr; Stephen Campbell I was fortunate in becoming a friend to both of them. I was even lucky enough to become Jim's escort to & from the stage for his later years when ever he played California. Fortune even flew me out to Las Vegas to help in Barbra & Judy's shows. Well Stephen, it can truly be said that no matter the high or even getting through the lows of his success words cannot express my gratitude for your bringing this all about with one lovely introduction to Mr. Bailey, a true man that I will never forget!

I love Jim (may he rest in peace), I have watched many of his Judy stuff on youtube, and many all different levels of magnificence. This was off a little. I could not fathom what was off, then i realized, maybe Jim was so nervous that his eyes fluttered every two seconds. None of his other renditions was he so fluttersome. Jim was still wonderfully marvelous, but those eye lids kept lashing out. Judy probably would have laughed hysterically.

It says November 29th 1970, so (if true) that is only 18 months after Judy herself actually died. He actually got much BETTER at doing Judy than this in the 70's and 80's. He seems to be blinking a lot here for some reason, and the skirt is much too short [so we have to assume its an incarnation of Judy how she would have looked in 1970] but apart from that its very good! I saw Jim Bailey (doing Judy) live at The Café de Paris London in about 1990 and it was the GREATEST live act I have ever seen to this day! (And I've seen Liza Minnelli about 10 times).

This was Jims first ever national T.V. performance. ( he had performed on the Childrens hour in the 50's.) He told me he didnt know whether to do Judys early 60s ( t.v. show0 look or late 60's ( Valley of the dolls.) This was so popular though because Ed Sullivan put him on again a couple of months later.

One of the greats of the Old School of Drag in which more or less 10 divas were interpreted by all drag queens. Nowadays, drag is more rambunctious, more political, with greater individual expression, but this is where it all began. Thank you, Jim Bailey....you have not been forgotten.

This was when his judy was very early on. His performances got better with time. Liza Minnelli once told Jim "please don't ever stop performing, how else would I see my mother?". I think that's the highest praise you can get especially with Liza seeing countless queens TRY to do what her mom did. This was 1970, look at some 80s and more current performances. Sadly lost Jim not too long ago.

I think he was incredibly talented. We have to remember that studying a person's affectations was more difficult in 1970. So perhaps he had studied or been more familiar with later performances from Judy Garland. For me it was a bit too frenetic and twitchy which isn't really how I remember her on stage. That said, Jim Bailey was an amazing artist.
