A metronome goes back and forth, I guess it has something to do with that. Either that or going forward in a steady tempo? I think going back and forth makes more sense. Whoever wrote the lyrics needs to explain them. I really appreciate their pronunciation by the way, they at least try to use proper English.
Cottidae yeah it seems to be a mix of both the wavering uncertainty of a metronome going “back and forth” and also living your life your own way regardless of differences or changes as a metronome continues unerringly. Perhaps like, “I’m different/don’t conform and unsure about it but I live my life my own way.”
After reading the lyrics, it does seem like going forward steadily is the most reasonable meaning. There are lines referring to obsession, never making errors, always being myself and so on. It does seem to refer to the fact that a metronome keeps a steady tempo without changing. On a completely unrelated note, I'm a bit surprised about this comment getting as many likes as it has.
I dont know if you figured it out already but the song is about living like a metronome basically living doing the same routines and always having to be perfect and trying to break through it but inside youre hurting? i dont know if that made much sense but the song is reffering to depression which is why i relate to it a lot, im sorry if i didnt explain well english is my third langauge afterall hehe
