@@Nowiknowwhattoputheremy favorite is a tie between 3 songs. Posthumous Forgiveness, Love/Paranoia, and List of People(To Try And Forget About.) I love them all for different reasons.

Lonerism should be next. His classic 60’s inspired psychedelic rock album and my personal favorite.

i’d have to say kevin is a complete musical genius. genre defining and caused almost a decade of direct inspiration to many many bands and artists. Currents will definitely be a album for the ages as it is already heading there with how many of kevin’s songs were voted in the top 100 of the decade and came first aswell (on australia’s triple j top 100 of the 2010s
I heard this album the first time I did MDMA. Needless to say it was the best hour of my life and inspired me to start making music - pure creative genius!
I listened to this album song to song completely 🌿💨 and it was soooo good. I just hits different

I just listened to Currents for the first time yesterday and that is my favorite. It reminds me of Out Of Time by The Weeknd. They have a similar atmosphere to them imo

Rihanna covered New Person, Same Old Mistakes so you might’ve heard that
"covered" is used lightly here. i love ri but she basically just resang the song. added nothing to it. a cover would be johnny cash covering nine inch nails' "hurt", or lana del rey covering sublime's "doin' time"

Yes I'm Changing keeps putting people in a trance, what can I say. Majority of people take the song in and get quiet when it plays, like you Shelby. This other reactor called Mercurial Number Six also just sat down in silence throughout the whole song lol. Overall great reaction Shelby, you notice many details especially in the instrumentals that one would otherwise not pick up on first listen :)

I do love Tame Impala. Even the most recent works but I can't help but think Innerspeaker will never be topped. Top tier album
The sound you asked about in Let it Happen is a guitar made to sound like an alarm. Funny you say that the song sounds like two songs that work together, cuz it was actualy two songs originally according to Kevin Parker
It's a pretty common disco guitar sound that Daft Punk are keen on see Get Lucky for a more normal use of it, and Stardust's Music Sounds Better With You for pretty much the same noise.

I remember when I heard Tame Impala for the first time in 2010. Their music was such a fusion of Pink Floyd and Beatles and all good things from Prog rock and the mid 60's psychadelia with a modern twist using modern recording and production techniques. This would be the music that John Lennon or Syd Barrett would have made.
Funny that you mentioned Pink Floyd and The Bealtes. I discovered Tame Impala before those two, but now Pink Floyd is my favorite band and The Beatles are my second favorite band :) I also like Prog Rock and obviously the psychadelia from the 60's. John Lennon and Syd Barrett just so happen to be some of my favorite artists of all time.
@@GappyHigashikata9 What are your impressions of Led Zeppelin. Their bassist John Paul Jones is one of the reasons I took up the bass and a lot of people have taken up the guitar because of Jimmy Page.
@@Alpha_7227 I've only listened to their album called Led Zeppelin 3. It's a pretty good album overall, but I think I'd have to listen to more of their works before I give a formed opinion that I'm fully satisfied with. I want to start learning guitar because of David Gilmour :)
The less I know the better was voted number 1 in the triple j hottest 100, taking songs from 2010 to 2019. It's a gem (Triple J is a alternative music station in Australia primarily aimed at the youth demographic)

I first heard this album about a year ago, and no joke, I have listened to it everyday since. Everytime I feel like I'm escaping into a whole other world and having a conversation with myself. The lyrics are so poignant, but the music just speaks on a whole other level. It is the musical personification of personal change and all the highs and lows that come with that. Incredibly powerful. It's my favorite album of all time. This was such a great reaction. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely dive into Lonerism after this one then bask in the almighty glory that is Kevin's debut album as Tame Impala - Innerspeaker. This just turned 10 this year and Kev did a massive boss move and actually bought the studio he recorded the album in and did a livestream playing the album back to front to celebrate the milestone!!!

This album got me through having cancer then once I beat it I dropped acid at a live show. Played let it happen for a good 20 minutes right off the bat. 0 regrets

I like how in the chorus of new person same ol mistakes it’s like his feelings are going against his conscious. And in the last chorus they came to a understanding cuz there’s one voice
tame impala is so underrated, Kevin deserves so much more attention than what he gets. currents is literally my favorite album ever and to think he created everything is insane!

Probably one of the most important album of the 2010's decade. Definitely a classic my kids will hear about
first time i ever heard tame impala was at a music festival here in montreal. it was the greatest way to be introduced to the band. they performed this album and some older stuff and i was instantly hooked to the pop/psychedelic fusion and then finding out that it was made entirely by kevin was fucking magical to me as a producer

I've discovered Tame Impala quite recently, and I simply cannot stop listening to their songs. I still struggle with associating the lyrics, but damn their music is really good. The last time I liked a band this much was Arctic Monkeys and AM.
currents is one of my favorite albums ever. i’ve even gotten my brother into it and he listens to literally nothing besides rap lol
Heard this album while looking for music to listen to while doing whippets lmao. Needless to say, this album has quickly become one of my favorites of all time. I'm usually not into electronic music but this album is so damn catchy and relatable.

I think you explained it by not saying anything at all 🤣 It’s really hard to choose which song is my favourite on currents because they are all so different and great for their own reasons. The first time i ever listened to Tame Impala happened to be while i was on acid and listening to eventually really made me love his music and I only regret not listening to him sooner

You should add Melody's Echo Chamber EP to your list. A lot of Currents has to do with his breakup with Melody Prochet, who he was with around the time of Lonerism. He helped produce her first album and a lot of his sounds are pretty noticeable in the work. (listen to lonerism first tho)

A wonderful way to listen to kevin's music is to put on headphones lay on your bed, or recline in your chair and close your eyes. You will be sent to a different universe.
It made me remember when I heard Currents for the first time and my mind forgot the album but I knew what was going to happen and I enjoyed it like never before like the first time

You should listen to lonersim which is his transition from innerspeaker (psy rock with a lot of pedals and no synths) and currents (psy synth pop music with a lot of synthetic sound with almost no guitars).
