    Although a yeast infection is not an STI, it IS an infection-- a fungal infection. It absolutely can be passed to a partner orally or by the genitals in certain circumstances. Candida affects not only the mouth and genitals, but when left untreated can cause serious health problems.

      Can you get rid of it

    • @j.r.maverick4355
      @j.r.maverick4355 2 года назад +8

      @@dimitriramcharran1062 Yes, you can re-regulate your body's natural pH and the natural balance of good bacterias. You can take a daily probiotic supplement, and include things in your diet like yogurt, kombucha, high quality proteins, and healthy fats. Limit refined sugar - yeast feeds on it. Green leafy veggies and limited fruits will help also. It takes time, but you can restore your body's natural balance. Research "foods for candida" or "candida diet" and seek help from a knowledgeable healthcare professional.

    You can most definitely pass a yeast infection with sexual intercourse. Without a doubt. If a woman goes to the doctor with a yeast infection the doctor may ask if she has had unprotected sex with someone uncircumcised, because the foreskin can hold yeast and be passed on to another partner. Male or female.

      And that a simple atheletes foot cream will make it go away, obviously not in the mouth or vagina though, everywhere else you can use it and it fixes it pretty fast.

      Senior biology student here. It is a myth that comes from the lack of understanding of what a species is. I'd try a vaginal suppository probiotic before I'd stick yogurt up there, especially if you have to take anitbiotics to clear up any bacterial infection because that will kill everything, creating an ecoogicial niche for the most aggressive species (like yeast) to take hold. It's not uncommon to get a yeast infection after you have been treated for a UTI or other infection for this reason. Anyway, Lactobacillus is the genus for both species of bacteria: those in yogurt and those in the vagina, so they are in the same genus, but they are two entirely different species. You also have no idea what else might be in yoghurt. As an example and analogy though- we have Canis familiaris, the common dog (our "familiar" dogs, hence the species name of familiaris which I think is a wonderful name for our dogs, but I'm getting side-tracked.) Then there is Canis lupus- the wolf. They both belong to the same genus, but are very different organisms. The same is true of the two aforementioned species. If you wanted a guard or hunting dog, are you going to get a toy poodle or a wolf? That poodle isn't going to do protect your vagina like a wolf would. There are also "strains" of a certain species. Best analogy is dogs again. We have Canis familiaris and all the breeds of dogs from saint bernards, to toy dogs. The breed of dog is somewhat akin to the strain or subspecies of bacteria. If you use a probiotic, try to find one that lists the specific strains. If it only lists the genus and species, it could still be effective. If it doesn't even list the Genus and species, don't buy it because you have no idea what's in there.

      It’s worked for me serveral times. Plain Greek yogurt. I don’t keep it in there for more than 3 hours to prevent BV infections. It definitely helps with the pain and burning at least while your taking something else to treat it.
