i unfortunately harmed and put people in unnecessary danger way too much. I am staying sober and making better choices. I have major amends to make. I am full of regret and shame. God does not want us to harm others or act poorly. He does not want us to ruin people's lives or our own in active alcoholism/addiction. Thats for sure. I have to adopt new attitudes and follow my higher power's guidance if I am going to stay sober/clean. I have been doing it so wrong for years trying to achieve and sustain long term sobriety. I had been so dishonest for far too long. UHG. What was I thinking???
I like what Dylan said. Perhaps talking to your sponsor before approaching your ex would be beneficial. If you're trying to do it yourself, without someone's guidance or direction (like a sponsor with a working knowledge of the 12 steps & the priciple behind it) it'll be difficult to see why we're doing this in the first place. The book says, "We'll never get over the drink," if we don't. Joe & Charlie mentioned that what we're doing is facing our fears. Getting rid of unwanted luggage & placing them into God's hand is my understanding. We are there to simply clean our side of the street. Nothing more & nothing less. The outcome belongs to God from that point on. Like the book says, it becomes water over the damn. On to the next step we go...
