They might've sampled only a few seconds lol. And since it's a song, they'll need to use those chords for the entire song. Hence the reason why it sounds like the original.

They iterally sampled a Smashing Pumpkin's Song tiled: 1979, go ahead take a listen, it has over 260 Million streams and song came out in 1996, Why Don't We members probably weren't even born yet when song came out 🤣🤣🤣 and I'm sure that is one the reasons for the dislike.
