Since I last listened to this video, Calvin joined up with his dad on Gerald's "True Gospel" cd. What a difference a day makes. His voice is stronger and richer than before. You can tell that he is putting in the work to hone his chosen craft. His voice is sweet-sounding, giving the impression that one day he may sound more like Sam Cooke than Gerald. Again, I applaud Calvin's efforts...he really wants to sing...you go boy!!!! I'll be listening for great music from you.
Sorry I missed your when when you're came to concert on August 22nd I heard it was a good performance I would like to know if is the performance on RUclips RUclips yet for atlantic cities for Atlantic City's free concert on August the 22nd If so I would like to know what I missed Is is there any video from Atlantic City concert on August the 22nd We still have the dramatics OK
Great job cousin Calvin.Gerald Alston is my cousin, his mother and my grandmother were sisters.I can remember when he took me and my cousins and his son Kyle fishing one day back in the summer of 1985. Very humble and down to earth man.
I feel good watching this, Gerald has a remarkable voice that is so distinct, it is the Manhattans sound. Now i know that the Manhattans will live on and not lose their sound. Gerald's voice is being emulated in son, good work. Hope he follows in Dad's footstep and take up the mantle.
Git Down with the Git Down....Calvin will be making a record we all will be buying...don't you worry!...Time is everything..This apple is from the same Tree!
Considering Gerald Alston is his dad, the only amazing thing about his singing is that he can't sing!! Poor kid sure didn't inherit his dad's great vocals.
Gerald Alston is the best lead the Manhattans ever had, even better than George "Smitty" Smith, the original lead. But you must be tone deaf if you think the kid sounds anything like his father ! That apple fell so far it rolled for miles.
george a roman I'm laughing at your statement, "That apple fell so far it rolled for miles".... Ooh you wrong for that one. I was curious to hear him and its why I chose to watch the footage. He practice more I think he'll get it eventually. He's kind of stiff...... January 8th, 2015
@@ethelstevenslove2957 Hello Ethel, I've been revisiting some of my old RUclips comments as I often do when I'm bored. I still get a laugh out of Your getting a laugh over my "Rolled for Miles" comment. Here now all these years later hoping young Alston made something good of his life, and pray you are not only still among us, but in good Health. G-D Bless You!! 😘
@Glenroy Brome • Bruh, you must be tone deaf!! Poor boy sounds NOTHING like his dad. Were I Gerald, I'd tell the truth rather than indulge him. It's been said "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree". In Calvin's case it fell so far, it's probably still rolling!!
Ok the idea of letting Gerald join him on stage was great but once he got the mic the kid shud have stepped back and let pops sing the lead. Thats just singing sense to me.

Calvin got a boost of confidence when dad came up :-)
What Calvin really needed was an injection of his dad's talent, 'cause he's got none!!!
That's why you practice and work on your craft, if that is what you want, and he can certainly get where he wants to if that is his desire.
I agree.......
OK, yes, I cried.
So cute! His mom & dad must be so proud! Whose footsteps will he follow?
nice.
Calvin sounds like Gerald on his first manhattans album....a million to one.....

Two words...voice lessons. I applaud his efforts but Mr. Alston's shoes are pretty big...
I agree.....
He comes from a singing family.... Shirley Alston of the group the "Shirelles" is Gerald's aunt......
Yes, I know, but sometimes talent skips a generation...I love Gerald Alston's vocal skills. It is going to take a mighty giant to overshadow him
+Gwen Bradley well said
I thought they r practicing😳
Would have enjoyed the father singing lead and the son joining the chorus.

sorry Calvin you ain't got it and what's with those backups...smh
The back ground can't sing.
His son cant sing sorry lol
He gave it a great try, though! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
