Welcome to the game Emily , I skipped through the video. Here are a couple tips.
    1) When you get to a station, find the clinic on the same floor where the fleet manager terminals are. Go past the registration desk and find a sign with 2 terminals below it that says 'Olympus Principal'. Click there and 'Transfer your Imprint' to that location. Now when you die you'll spawn at the clinic instead of having to respawn at the city , ride the train each time.
    2) you can adjust your walking speed rolling up the mouse wheel.
    3) When approaching an object, like the station, don't point your nose directly at it , there's a little marker that looks like >< that tells you where the ship is actually going. If that is on the station that means u'll hit it if u don't slow down. So keep that off the physical station so that if u don't slow down in time u won't hit it :)
    4) never use the speed limiter (square box, mouse wheel) to slow down the ship. If the limiter drops below actual speed it locks up your thrusters so u can't steer. Always use S and shift to slow down , then roll down the limiter after.
I would strongly suggest u play with a veteran guide player using the guide system. Its the button on the bottom right of the main menu. A good guide knows all the latest tips, tricks, bugs and best practices for the latest patch. It'll makes things a LOT less frustrating and u'll learn the coping strategies quickly. Good luck!

Thank you! I love these tips! I legit didn't think getting into it would have so much to learn! This is certainly not like other games...but I enjoyed it quite well! I thought about just streaming this moving forward, but that jump time is a killer....on my other videos, useless times like that I can fast forward or delete if necessary so those watching aren't bored to tears....I may start recording some of this too.
I love these tips, thanks for helping me out!!!

@@emilysgame Heh I'm a guide, so those are the tips I give new players. That >< indicator is so important I would go into menu->game options->Pilot Velocity Indicator and turn it from Fading to Always on. That way u'll always know your ship's direction of travel.
Re the time in jumps. Get a faster quantum drive. Go to the station at Hur L5, store your ship, take the intra-station transit elevators (green) to the galleria deck and find a store called Platinum Bay. At the terminal there buy an Atlas quantum drive, 17,900auec. Then go into your Vehicle Manager on your Mobiglass and install it. The Atlas is the one of fastest drives for your ship that can still cross the system w/o refeuling.
Keep in mind that while in quantum you can get out of your seat and do other things, its not a loading screen. On bigger ships I usually carry supplies so I can reload weapons and ammo, pack my backpack , eat/drink , even reposition vehicles in the cargo bay until I reach the destination.
Oh another pain point for even veteran players is using the Star Map. The most important step is to double click a planet before zooming in on it. If you don't double click you won't be able to select destinations on the planet or in orbit.
If you try and set a new destination on the map and it just won't do it . Try jumping away from the planet first if u're close to one.
If you're trying to find a destination in the cockpit view but none of the location icons are coming up when u press B , go into the map and hit the 'Clear' button. When u have waypoints set it hides all the other destinations in the cockpit view.
As I said, these are all things that u'd learn from a good Guide. hence my suggestion.

Nope, Trains not a loading screen. Someone in their ship could follow the train if it's on an outside rail and see you and you can see them. They could even drop a guy off ontop of the tram if they're good enough pilots. 😁 I love this game, you can literally do whatever you want... and it will have full VR Support eventually, which was one of the reasons I backed three times and bought a few ships. I just wanted to kick in some funding, lol. Just dont purchase ship's if you have bills to pay first, make sure all the important shit is taken care of first.

I have been playing Star Citizen for over 3 years and I have seen the changes and the progression. Keep in mind that we are playing a game that is being built around us. I guess it would be like sitting in the unfinished living room in your house watching RUclips as your house is being built around you. Even though this game is rough around the edges and it makes you make up new curse words not yet known to the human languages when it does what games in alpha do, this game is still hands down the best game that will be produced. The detail in the ships alone is absolutely amazing. For me to keep playing a game for this long it has to be good. When 3.23 drops in the next few weeks it will change not only this game, but also the way other developers look at their games. I played starfield for about 3 hours and that was all I could stomach. I forced my self to play starfield for the last 2 hours. There is no comparison to each other. Like Chris Roberts said 12 years ago, he was out to make the best damn space game ever and he is doing that.

Another fun community aspect of the game is that you're not stuck piloting your own ship. Other players can call their fleet up and lend you a ship to try out, or even pilot or ride with you. Imagine a Star Trek crew! They can range from small one-person starters (the claustrophobic feel) to giant capital ships that can hold dozens of players, tons of cargo, and armed to the teeth in multiple stations. There's even a giant space yacht complete with a swimming pool, spa rooms, mutiple guest quarters, and a restaurant/bar. In fact, if I ever see you in game, I'd be happy to lend you a ship or two of different types to test-fly or crew with me. Also, you don't always have to auto-land (ALT-N). If you're adventurous, just line up your ship and gently strafe downward (CTRL) til you touch down. For safety, always shut off your engines, but you can leave the Power on. But like in real life, always close the doors behind you so no one can steal your ship Sometimes the easiest way to equip items from a box is to simply double-click it or drag it onto your character's body (helmet --> drag it onto your head; arm armor --> drag onto your arms). Some armors won't equip (like a heavy helmet) if you're wearing a light rather than heavy core. Also, in cases of a missing helmet, sometimes the fastest fix is to just fly to an R&R station, go to the Galleria level, and buy a cheap light helmet. Also, max out on med pens (which can be equipped on your leg armor (double click each one to add to the leg slots). To heal without med pens, visit any medical bay/facility and check into a surgery room. They'll fix you up in the bed. Most planets won't let you quantum travel until you leave the atomsphere, which is normally at least 10,000m up. On the cloud planet Crusader it's 90,000m (but you're already up in the sky). On moons it's much lower, about 2,000m up I think. Some mission areas won't let you quantum travel directly there if they're not major POIs, so you have to QT as close as possible then fly on thruster power the rest of the way. It the case of obstructed waypoints, just use the OM markers to fly around til you have a straight route.

Barring any actual bugs, I believe the reason the multi-tool healing attachment wouldn't work might be because you need a med canister on the second attachment point for it to work, otherwise it has no drugs to heal with.
Best option is to carry a pile of medpens in your gear somewhere, even if not equipped on the external slots. You can fit a lot in a backpack, or even your normal armor storage.

Welcome to the verse, where there is no loading screens. ;)
1:06:00 always keep your power on, turn your engines off so your ship doesn't fly away by accident. (the power is so your shields stay on and people have a harder time destroying it.)
1:08:12; that isn't a storage area, its a bed you can log out on if you have to.
to place boxes, you have to hold in F and aim at the box until you can see the "place" command on the box & then press that, then you have an option to place anything anywhere on the ground even on shelves.
Again welcome to the verse & enjoy your stay.

One more super handy little trick, grab a couple of the same empty bottles of Cruze and stack them in your inventory. When you are thirsty, put one in your hand and magic - it will be a 100% full, just keep restacking and as long as you have at least two empty bottles of the same drink, it will always be full when you need a drink and Cruze helps with hunger too as a bonus

Great to see your first experience in SC as you experienced it. I hope someone from CIG sees this and takes notes. Things like delivering your ship and THEN retrieving it are definitely not clear to a newcomer, and figuring out how to request clearance to take off is super unclear in the tutorial. The part of the UI they are trying to tell you to click on should definitely FLASH or get an arrow beside it during the tutorial. A couple of suggestions:
    1. When you land your ship, turn off the engines with I instead of powering down. When you power down, the shields also power down and will need to charge up when you get back in the ship. It also leaves the ship more vulnerable if someone decides to shoot it while you're out of it. For some reason this also works when you store the ship in stations, so just leave it powered up and the shields will be full when you get in next time.
    2. Someone already said this but it's worth repeating, the DEFAULT walk speed is really slow but you can adjust it with mouse wheel. My advice is to not adjust it too high, but to leave walk as kind of a brisk walk speed and use sprint for running. You will just miss a ton of beautiful design and artwork if you run past everything.
    3. All AI is currently "broken" so interacting with NPCs is usually very frustrating. This is because each NPC's AI is considered a "low priority thread" on the server. When you play the game you attach to a "Shard" server. Right now, each shard on the "Live" environment has only one server running everything in it's universe by itself. Over the next few months starting with 3.23 we are seeing multiple servers sharing the load for each shard. You will hear about "Replication Server" and "GDC" servers, but there may also be "AI" servers or some mix of them as CIG figures out the right balance. The whole thing is called "server meshing" but the bottom line is at the end of this we should have AI NPCs and creatures that behave like we all expect.
As overwhelming as it all seems, there's so much fun to be had, especially with other players, but if you want to solo, definitely try renting a Prospector and checking out mining, or buy a Vulture in-game at Lorville and check out Salvage. Both are a lot of fun. I would not advise trying either without watching a recent RUclips video first though.
Welcome to the 'Verse! o7 (saluting)

I've not seen anyone mention it, but if you ask in global chat a lot of people will take you on as crew. A lot of people will happily let you join in on a salvage op on their Reclaimer or work a turret on their cargo ship and most will pay you too! Let them know you're new and want to be shown the ropes. next thing you know you're a beltalowda working a reclamation ship out of Seraphim for some creds just hoping to make it back to G-Lock at A-18 for some cold beers.
I would take this time before 3.23 to learn the ropes and not worry to much about making creds. There hasn't been an announcement but speculation is that there will be a full wipe of the database which we haven't had in over a year. If that happens, that will be a good time to start to focus on making creds and crewing up.
Have fun and safe flying! o7

Trams are not a loading screen; there are zero loading screens once in-game (well, caveat in a moment...); you can fly in a ship next to the train and wave to people on the train and they can wave back. It is all physicalized. The only "loading screen" in-game is when respawning after death, or currently for the transition in the Jump Point (when that test for Pyro is active) - but that will also be physicalized gameplay eventually, via server meshing, and you'll have to navigate the Jump Point tunnel manually. And then you have loading screen on log on, obviously. Finally, right now, "server recovery" on server meshing, when active, is also a bit of a "loading screen" - you are still in game and can do some stuff, but you aren't connected or able to really interact until the server fully recovers (a few minutes, as things last were for said test at least.)

Also there is no "burn up" in Star Citizen; every ship is shielded against heat. If you do hit the edge of atmosphere through normal flight rhere will be atmospheric flames but are not harmful. AlT-C is throttle lock; C is toggling Coupled mode (frankly I don't know why they used those keys-- just causes more new pilot deaths than anything). Entry and exit of hangars in stations is done by using the COMM panel and tapping the button next to the spaceport Name. Just be sure to adjust your speed (mousewheel) down so you don't crash in. SQ42 (Squadron 42) is the single player campaign that was the original Kickstarter. That's where the majority of the dev funds were spent, to complete the game. Now that's it's feature-complete and in polishing, they're able to move over large teams back to the MMO side to build and refine it. AT T01:32:00 when you were stuck, you accidentally hit the 'V' key to toggle scanning mode. AT T01:38:20 I think you were stuck on the edge of a building after nearly crashing andt that's why you couldn't move. Sometimes if you F4 you can look around to check what's going on. Oh, it seems your throttle was all the way to 0. Scroll-wheel adjusts your "max throttle" and when you accelerate thats the upper limit. If you go into the red bar, that's when you're exceeding the maneuvering thruster capacity (to smoothly control your ship). I would be happy to walk you through a bunch, but I would try to do so like a tour guide, so it feels less like a class and more like an immersive journey. Until then, have fun, please be patient regarding bugs and UI ambiguity. It will improve soon!

Welcome to the Verse! Understandable there's a very steep learning curve with little hand holding. The tutorial is bound to change constantly as the UI will be revamped. It's because the development is still very fluid and mechanics are being changed constantly as they try to get to an actual 1.0. Next month almost EVERY aspect of the game will be overhauled in a major way with patch Alpha 3.23 so please stay tuned and have patience. A large portion of the developers from the single player campaign have been moved over to the MMO side to integrate all the interactive elements and technology. Btw you can adjust your walk speed in first-person by using the scroll wheel. Running is hold-down Shift but it uses stamina. Also don't be shy about using chat. Players are generally helpful. Also PVP isn't something you have to engage in. It's completely possible to do 100% exploration and PVE stuff solo, with friends, or with random people you meet (and trust). Server meshing should be coming later this year which will fill the Verse with at least 400+ players per local shard area

Thanks! I see that now. I must have missed the info on that as I progressed? Seems like a lot of things in here are either hard to catch or not there for you to know?

@emilysgame yeah there wasn't a tutorial when I started playing in like 2019 or so or that's when I started looking into it. It was definitely a fun learning experience I actually started mouse and keyboard didn't like it and didn't play again until I had a throttle and stick, which eventually evolved into dual sticks and pedals lol I like flying a lot haha.

Always love seeing new people get into this game. Not gonna lie it would have been netter to wait for 3.23 to come out in the next month or 2 though.

@emilygames 2:34:30 the destroyed Freelancer had a green box in the cargo that very well could have been Gasping Weevil Eggs worth about $225,000 at a salvage yard.

39:11 What new players SHOULD do is go into global chat and ask an experienced Player to jump on with them and run the first few hours with them. Guaranteed you will find a player more than willing to assist.

First of all, welcome to rhe verse... second to fix the walking speed use the scroll on your mouse.. it allows you to control the speed. 😊

Thank you for this! I actually really like that option!! So many games - the walking is either too fast or too slow when following an NPC or something..

@@emilysgame also we are about to have 3.23 drop later this month, it is going to upgrade alot of the us including new looting systems, mini maps, new solar map, interactive system for objects, two creatures are also coming in. If you look though Star citizen live, Inside Star citizen or even Citizen con footage, they are showing the new system and its damn beautiful.

Walking is as slow or fast as you want, it is not like Bethesda where it's walk or run. The mouse wheel controls the variable movement speed of both on foot and in spaceships.

I hope you fund this out but you have different armour classes. Light, medium, and heavy are the classes you can't equipt a heavy armour helmet when you have light armour equiped.

if you would like i can show you the game if you want to know more about it, its a very niche game that takes many hours to do anything useful but its my favorite.i would be happy to join you on a stream and show you some of the game loops, ie: salvaging, bounties, bunkers, mining, and many other things,

You could post a beacon for medical assistance then tell the player to bring you a helmet or fly to a shop where you can buy a new one. Also that green crate has Weevil Eggs worth a lot of credits.

next patch should include minimap + i belive there should be navigation (not sure if thats in patch too). That should help begginers big time not getting lost, heck i even get lost sometimes in places i dont know well and i have 1k+ hours

As a "veteran" of SC, it was funny & irritating to watch but a good remembering of why I rage quitted the game in 3.12 and came back for good since 3.13.
Even with a tutorial SC doesn't take you by the hand and uses mechanics that are rare or not important in other game. Well done citizen!
