  • Last time Alex wasn’t impressed when I pulled the cover off the Uno turbo he walked passed it. (Poor Uno)
I could see the comments on his channel that his subscribers liked the Uno turbo
So we wanted to make it our mission to convince him it’s a Hot little hatch back.

Italians make stuff they’d love. Germans make stuff for a market. That makes a massive difference

Love me an uno! I got a cool story of one of these!
My mum had a 1.3 turbo in black with the red stripes. It almost had its life ended when she hit a deer but it had a private plate on it which was a name of a famous racing driver, so it was worth more than the car and it was repaired instead of being written off. It was then gifted to my idiot brother who didn't have a licence but was doing lessons.
He did what all dumbass 17 year olds did to their cars back then, from anodised halfords special parts to a no fear subwoofer speaker system filling the boot.
Well on one fateful day before he had a licence he decided to take it for a spin with his mates. He went into the country side to do some pills, (like i said, he's a F'ing idiot) on the drive back he proceded to roll the car into a ditch.
At this point he panicked and another fantastic idea came to his mind!
Him and his mates pushed the car over onto its wheels, drove it out the ditch into a farmers access point and set fire to it!
He walks 10 miles back home which gives him enough time to stop buzzing off his tits to tell my mum that the uno has been stolen.
She already knew what had happened as a friend of hers had called to ask why he was walking down a country lane late at night miles from home.
But she didn't say a thing, and thought it would be fun to play along with his lies.
With her camera in hand and me in tow we went on an adventure to find the little uno! Well we found the private number plate in the ditch and the car burnt to a crisp around the corner.
She got some good photos of the remnants of the former family vehicle, contacted the police to report it, and then we made our way to the local papers.
She paid for a LARGE piece in there with a reward for anyone who knew what had happened to her poor little uno.
I will never forget my brothers face when she showed him that paper.
20 years later and my idiot brother still doesn't know Mum knows.

I used to have one that didn't corner, hardly had any brakes on a good day and the electrics gave out randomly every other day, especially when it rain. Not very comfy with the windows down and no wipers, nor lights. But it went like the stig in a straight line, including mandatory 80s / early 90s Turbolag, especially after an extra tune.
It's a miracle nothing bad ever happened, once the brake-pedal cilinder gave way doing 80km/u and the handbrake never did anything ever to start with... Loved the deathtrap as long as it lasted, but the zero braking crossed the line for me 😇

my mate had a R5 GTT and it would accelerate so hard the heater knobs would fall off the dash - quality kit lol

@@BlackLines Yep, ive had them all. R5 Gordini turbo, R5 GTT, Fuego Turbo, and the big daddy a GTA V6 Turbo. The GTA was an awesome weapon.

@@dj_paultuk7052 sweet - my dad had a black Fuego Turbo when I was growing up - I loved it, especially the slide up door handles and the boost gauge in the dash accompanied by the spool noise. Little me fell in love with cars around about then heh. Sadly the A pillars rotted away somehow so he cut it up and weighed it in. He now has a blue GTS with only 40k on the clock that's been garaged for over a decade til he "gets round to it" 🙄

@@BlackLines Oh wow. Here in the UK there is only 1 Fuego showing as on the road on the Howmanyleft database. I had a 2.0 GTX and the 1.6 Turbo. The 2.0 was the better car really. The hatches on those rotted so bad. Largest single piece of glass of any production car at the time. And it had a tiny metal frame around the outside. You had to be so careful opening and closing the hatch and the glass flexes and you can smash them.

There's a video floating around on the internet where a mad bloke swapped his uno turbo's engine with the 16v turbo from a coupe and boosted it to 400 hp and was basically outaccelerating a nissan GTR.

Rarer than a MK1 GTI and more unique in my opinion. Overlooked car, should be a bit lower maybe to help with that body roll around corners though

Were you in Revs magazine late 90's with a fella in a white MK2 on the North London Circular? Cheers

Get some Konis on all fours, a Novitec-Turbo and a manual boost-controller beneath the dash like we did in the 80s. Uno turbo rules and only the Delta was his real contender at that time!

You can see in the video the blinker was on for sure, it's the white glass on the Uno, not the red.
