That's why Alex Salmond pointed out at the first (2021) ALBA Party Conference that: "Independence (his preferred political reform) is NOT for the hereafter, but for the here and now." Swapped round ('Independence is for the here and now, not for the hereafter'), puts the emphasis on the urgency of reform. But his original statement put the emphasis on the temporary and limited nature of politics. That was not accidental. Only a few weeks earlier there was a discussion about the irony of expending so much effort, on what is basically a temporary measure (Independence for Scotland). Since in the New Creation ALL countries will be governed from the New Jerusalem. No democracy there either, instead: Government of the people, by Christ, to the Glory of God!
