I don't see yesterday morning's service up yet. But just to say: Edinburgh was known as 'The Athens of the North'. 'Still magnificent to look at - but a shadow of its former self'. I was up there on Saturday, ticking those sermon headings as best I could. But I could see the resurrection of the dead being a sticking point for many there too. Even as hundreds could be heard audibly hungry for the same.

Agree with your comment that Scotland needs salvation more than political reform. That's why Alex Salmond pointed out at the first (2021) ALBA Party Conference that: "Independence (his preferred political reform) is NOT for the hereafter, but for the here and now." Swapped round ('Independence is for the here and now, not for the hereafter'), puts the emphasis on the urgency of reform. But his original statement put the emphasis on the temporary and limited nature of politics. That was not accidental. Only a few weeks earlier there was a discussion about the irony of expending so much effort, on what is basically a temporary measure (Independence for Scotland). Since in the New Creation ALL countries will be governed from the New Jerusalem. No democracy there either, instead: Government of the people, by Christ, to the Glory of God!

Was Macedonia separate from North Macedonia in those days? Or were they both part of the same Roman province? Nowadays Philippi is in the Greek part of Macedonia, rather than in North Macedonia. (Which was part of Yugoslavia before that country divided into Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, (North) Macedonia, and later Kosovo. I only vaguely remember this bit of geography becoming suddenly complicated in the early 1990s.)
