Hanging a cross arm in Electrical Lineman School

this video shows an electrical lineman climbing a 40 foot pole and hanging a cross arm and bolting an insulator on the arm. then he disassembles his work and sends the arm back to the ground

Why was the arm not framed when it was sent up. The rubber gloves does not appear to be any hot primary. Back in the day we only used they for hot work.

It was for training purposes to get used to gloves and framing the arm while pole is up in case we encounter that situation

You do well handling the nuts and washers wearing those dielectric gloves. Definitely not the easiest things to wear while working lol

It occurs to me that , a magnetic metal strip say 2 inches wide and 2 feet long situated about the middle of your chest would allow you to attach metal washers , nuts and maybe even bolts , so that you could take them off the strip in the sequence that works for you to complete your work on the pole !
