We loved visiting my Great Uncle Barnett Freedman’s exhibition. Sadly he died before I was born and it was really moving to see his work celebrated. My Grandpa David was Barnett’s brother and also musical. Thank you to Pallant House Gallery for putting together such a memorable exhibition. Caroline Freedman Brower

The lithographic work is glorious for its soft, free colourful directness. The faces of his subjects boldly stroked with surprising lithographic shadows lends an air of wonderful expressive drama to figures caught in a moving and the movement of a pictorial scene bustling amongst 'shadows' which are made prescient above the 'light' in his work it seems. For example at 2:34 don't we see this in his delightfully amusing 'dart player' lithograph? It occurs to me Barnett Freedman's style might readily lend itself to modern digital animation. Thank you

Great exhibition and good video, but a pity about the music which is quite superfluous and distracting

You are absolutely correct! Another interesting Talk totally ruined by intrusive music. Why do they keep on doing it? Nobody likes it!! I stopped watching after 30 seconds and wrote this instead

Emma, Simon, I thought this was one of the very best Pallant exhibitions of recent years. And what you both have to say in the video is very interesting, so why the fuck-awful music?
