The problem with the size is that the Thomas products are mostly made to OO Gauge which is 1/76 or 4MM/foot scale while Beau is traditional HO scale which is 1/87 or 3.5MM/foot scale. Most of the rolling stock used in the T&F line is reused from Bachmann Branchline, their UK range, models which are OO Gauge or 1/76 using older toolings that had tension lock couplings held on with a screw as opposed to Toad who was made using, of all things, Bachmann Branchline GWR Toad Brakevan tooling with the more easily swapped NEM coupling pockets that can accept a knuckle coupling by just pulling the tension lock coupling out.
The fact that in one of the images Beau is the same height to engine like Thomas and Rosie is very strange. Despite Beau being a weird pick as well as him being very fragile, he looks really good
Just got this video in my recommended and holy crap, it's been ages since I've thought about your channel. I remember watching your stuff back in the early 2010's. Glad to know you're still around!
Hey it’s nice to see you back I miss you I used to watch your Thomas wooden series I think it’s funny especially when sandy cheeks fell in love with Thomas
Great video! It's kinda strange that the most detailed Bachmann Thomas character is one that has probably the least screentime of any other character Bachmann has adapted. It makes sense though, with the tooling and all that; slap a face on it, add some paint and boom: it's Beau. I just wish they put half as much effort into the other models as they did for such an obscure, and honestly kind of unexpected, character. Also, totally agree on the buffers! Their great and all but look super cursed on American equipment. Not to mention, American standard couplers make buffers pretty much completely pointless anyway.
I know Bachmann can’t do non-CGI engines like BoCo and Stepney, but Beau is probably the most random choice for Bachmann to make. And yet they still put all their effort into this model of such an obscure character.
@@Undathesea I’d love to see them do older characters too, but unfortunately due to Mattel’s orders, we may not be getting any engines who didn’t appear in CGI until at least the revival era happens. Mattel doesn’t think those characters would sell too well since they’re not relevant.
I respect your opinion, but I think Beau looks great! He’s one of the few decent things about BWBA. Though, it’s too bad that he only appeared rarely in the show.
I noticed that too while editing the video tbh. Tho I think most of them are smaller details. Let alone, Beau’s tv model is also missing a lot of smaller details that the real Genoa locomotive has irl.
While I don’t enjoy the movie this character originates from I am glad Bachmann is still going strong with their Thomas models seeing they’re the only manufacturer I can think of that is doing good Thomas merch outside of Japan. That aside great video, not sure when you’ll next upload seeing you haven’t uploaded anything since late 2021, I’m curious to see what you have planned next.
I sub'd half a year ago in hopes a new video would be made. I like to see a brony who also talks on Thomas in a very analytical way. And you are definitely someone who knows his history. Sorry about your layout buddy. Nice edit near the end with the demonstration.
I think the packaging is the way it is because kids like to see the thing they don't care for all the literature and big cardboard box that comes with more hobby grade models.

I mean they did get the American theme right depending were you are near the grand canon it’s mostly desert
Yeah, he's a really great model. I made a review about him myself. Though I had no idea, his basis is called Genoa. I thought it was called geno.

Does he still have the 8 pin DCC socket?

I’m kinda surprised Bachmann made Beau knowing how obscure he is, but they certainly didn’t disappoint with this model.
Personally id rather them do the older characters first, like Murdoch, Arthur, Molly, etc, I'm not a huge fan of any of the new characters

@@joshuaW5621 the only new engine id actually like to see is sam, all the others are just meh
I love the look of Bachmann beau he definitely one of Bachmann better Thomas models
4:18 nope, they made smaller locos.

You say beau is probably the most detailed but he's actually missing some details From the tooling He's missing the sand pipes

@@cattrainboy05 So just for accuracy some detail was removed? And beaus base is Reno but Bachmann base is VTRR inyo
@@chasesrailwaylinesrr6447 The Thomas Wiki says that he’s based on the V&T No. 12. Which is what I compared him too.
Sorry I meant to say genoa , Reno and Genoa Look very similar in some photos, and Bachmann 4-4-0 base is VTRR 22 Inyo

3:43 And I thought Athearn had the worst shipping and handling.
Are you going to review Stanley when he comes out
I've heard that his motor is very noisy but I do admit his face is great tho I wish they would make hiro or stephen or even diesel 10!
Bachmann isn't making Diesel 10, dude.

7:10 Plus, more American looking.
tbh the Bachmann beau does not feel like a Bachmann Thomas range loco, It certainly fells like a Bachmann, but not a Thomas range loco

A Thomas Fan and brony? Alr I’m subscribing
Not a giant fan of his front coupler, it being a knuckle coupler and all.
i just subcribe to you and i didn't know you had to move house and to get ride of your old layout i feel bad for you
Bro revived
