2 box fans, 20"x20". It can be upgraded with furnace filter when (not if) smoke from forest fires getting too nasty. Highly recommend if can get any in Ireland. (Alberta, Canada)
Nice! I did something very similar earlier in the week, but yours is actually a little more elegant/polished, believe it or not :) I grabbed a spare 140mm Noctua PC fan (housemate bought more than she needed for her last PC build), plugged it into a "Molex" PATA HDD power adapter because it gave me a larger target to attach the croc clips of this USB-A-to-croc-clips cable I had laying around. That's then plugged into a QC3 trigger module so not only can I get 12V for the fan, but I can adjust the fan's supply voltage between 5-12V in 0.2V increments :) It's a hacky wiring job, but I didn't want to get the soldering iron out! The fan is then mounted to my bed's headboard by zip-tying it to a knock-off magic arm - as commonly used for cameras/etc 😹 That's actually not great: the magic arm transmits the fan's vibrations into the bed too much, so the fan ends up being far louder 😕 I think I actually have one of those tablet holders somewhere, so I'll have to try your idea!
Oh, also, earlier today RUclips recommended a video about an in-production Noctua desk fan, but the video creator reverse-engineered the design (sort of) and published a 3D-printable model that attaches to a standard PC fan to significantly increase the airflow (apparently). That looks like it'd be a great improvement to both of our custom fan creations :) I'd print it overnight right now if my printer was in a more trustworthy state! 👀 That video is: ruclips.net/video/SIcjrMmXlCc/видео.html And they posted the design to Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/thing:4911660
Creative use of parts that you had laying around. I guess I shouldn’t ask why you didn’t just go to to the store and buy a proper fan 😀. I live in Mesquite, Southern Nevada, where the temp right now is 89°F, and that’s at 9:00pm. By next Wednesday the high will be 109°, low of 84°. A/C is a must, fans just don’t cut it.
It was unprecedented heat in Ireland so all the fans were sold out everywhere! It cooled down here again but it reached 31c (88f) here during that time, the hottest it's ever been in Ireland on record is 33c (91f) so we just can't handle it 😅 Houses don't have AC in Ireland as generally we don't need it.
@@BrianLough I was just kidding. I understand about the lack of A/C, I was born in Coventry and spent the first 37 years of my life there. Until I moved to the US, I didn’t know that houses could be air conditioned. Have a great weekend.
I ve similar usb fan. Is there any that we can save the last state of USB fan ? Cause moment I disconnect from usb and reconnect ive to press physical button on the usb fan to turn it on.
I suppose It must a little, but I can't noticably feel the difference. The little fan thieves fingers would be more important than the drop in air flow anyways
It's the Northern hemisphere man.... It's hot as balls over here. Went out for a walk in shorts and had to peel my man parts off my leg. Kind of wishing I was at least part Scottish to get away with wearing a dress. 👗 🌞 🔥 🏀 🚀 🏀
Any port in a storm ! nice use of old stuff laying around, I'm in Sussex and melting too....cheers.

USB-C PD is great! Great video
Thanks!
Recommendation if you don't mind the noise, Dell Optiplex 780 fan is amazing and cheap
I bet a lot of people are dragging old fans out right now!!. Thanks for the PD info!
Now worries Pete! Seems to have cooled down a little here today, but the fan will still be useful I'm sure

😂😂😂20 degree is hot ?
Here at 20 we wear 3 coats ..
.
46 degree
It's almost like your climatized to it and I'm not 😅
33c is the hottest it's ever been in Ireland, so 30c is pretty close to that
As this video is 3 years old any recommendations for something like XY-PDS100?
Can i use 'adapter usb-c' instead of this module? 🤔
I sit in my shorts and sweat!! Lol 😆

Interesting! I must see for I have a 120mm fan anywhere
Anyone got ideas what parts I'd need to control multiple fans (4 or 8 per unit) from single power input, on/off and dial for speed?

Doesn't the 3D printed grill, not further reduce the airflow?

@@BrianLough Good to know.
I recognise that piece of paper :)
Try it with a Delta fan instead, those are a lot more powerful.
Beggars can't be choosers! I just used what I had here
Be grateful to Allah 😂, its 30degrees here in mumbai with hellish 80% humidity. It crossed 43 degrees in thr noon a few times this year.

who lives in Ireland? Lived 8 years in Dublin and miss it so much 😭
About 5 Millon of us!
Glad you enjoyed your time here!
@@BrianLough I wrote it wrong - meant to ask, who is watching from Ireland, not who lives there - On-the-fly translation error 😂🤗
I wish I could watch this ;P
Meh.gif :)
I don't see the sense in using a miniature connector for power when you don't have to.
Usb-c? I'm sure the connector designed to work with 100w will do just fine on this 5w load 😅
