This wonderful poetry library really is a bit of a hidden gem here in Edinburgh. It's tucked away down a close, not far from the Canongate Church, and really is a complete joy for all poetry lovers. I'm a huge fan of Scottish poet, Norman MacCaig. I was introduced to his poetry at school and have been a huge admirer ever since. One thing we have in common, is our incredible love of fishing in Assynt in the Scottish Highlands, and I can really recommend his poem "A Man In Assynt" which beautifully describes my own feelings & memories of this incredibly beautiful part of Scotland. His poem "Assynt and Edinburgh" perfectly describes my own profound love for my native Edinburgh and the magical hills, lochs and mountains of Assynt. Two places very much in my heart. I'm sorry I haven't been able to post much recently. Hope to be able to get some films out before Christmas. Thanks for sticking with me and all your support. Warmest best wishes to you all, David 🙂
Never been here David. Really loved To The Wild poem. Beautiful. Thanks for this. The care and attention and fondness you have for Edinburgh is lovely.🙏
Hey lovely people, thanks for watching, always deeply appreciate it 🙂 It's one of my fav places in the city and brilliant for a rainy day! The paper sculptures are so cool too and well worth a visit alone. Hope rehearsals are going well and you're both well and not working too hard. Catch up with you soon, David 🙂

I am so glad that you made a video of this lovely place! Poetry is such a large part of my life, that I can't wait to visit here the next time I'm in Scotland (which is looking more and more like 2027, due to some unexpected financial issues...) Have a great weekend! All the best, Stephanie
Hi Stephanie, you'd love this place. You can immerse yourself for hours here with some of the best poetry in the world. Have you come across Norman MacCaig? His description of the Assynt region of the Highlands is just incredible and evokes everything I feel about this mysterious and magical part of the country. I'm so glad you're coming over in 2027, I'll be so happy to see you again and show you more of Edinburgh & the Lothians. Take good care of yourself and have a lovely weekend. All the best, David :-) ps I'm hoping to have a film of Traquair House out over the next few days and I have a feeling that might have been where you saw Barbara Dickson on your last visit?
@@DavidWheaterScotland - I haven’t read any of his poetry yet, but it’s on my (always growing!) list to read =) And yes, that is where I saw Barbara Dickson! I want to explore a little more of the House itself and the grounds, since we only really budgeted time for the concert when I was there last!
Hi Stephanie, it's an amazing place. I visited recently with family and took a wee film which I hope you'll really enjoy :-) When you visit, I'll take you down and show you around. Take care, David @@pandorabox82
