Groucho asking the jail warden if he was a corrupt politician is ironic considering the warden was later sentenced to prison for being corrupt. Maybe Groucho was a good judge of character?
Wow they thought they were going to have a series show with Groucho one is beyond me. I wonder if they actually enjoyed this or if they were trying to figure out how to make this work without being mean to Groucho. I love Arlene trying to control and mother him.
This was one of the funniest shows in TV history, even though I think it was fixed when it came to guessing the identities of the celebrity entertainers.😂👍
I'm in a similar boat as your mother! I found Groucho's humour to be too disruptive to the show, such that it gave the impression of him trying to hog the spotlight to show off his comedy, rather than respecting the rules of the game that he was invited to play. Steve Allen and Joey Bishop are good examples of humourous panelists that are still good game players; they only sprinkled in as much humour that was appropriate and relevant to the line of questioning at hand.
@@moonlightray8493 I think Steve Allen's best skill is being funny while seeming like he's not trying to. I really like it. Will look for more Joey Bishop episodes, thanks.
I love this program, they just don't make them like this anymore. Have you dealt with more sex, with more... And you think I'm the only one obsessed with that subject, boy what a Freudian panel this is. Groucho was one of a kind when on this program
I think I’m one of the few people who did not find Groucho Marx to be funny. I loved his brothers, Chico and Harpo but I didn’t find Groucho to be particularly funny or endearing - and he wasted a lot of time on the program. I felt the same way about Victor Borge. He was a talented pianist but he was not a talented comedian.
Arlene Francis was looking very lovely here.

Love these old shows . Great television!
Love how John is cracking up.
“He made me do it!” 😂❤

Thank you. I needed a laugh today.
I would absolutely love to see these episodes on TV!
I saw them on TV in the 50s and 60s, and would love to see them there again. However, this will do. Thank you for this.
It would catch on like wildfire! People today crave good old fashioned fun!
I loved watching these episodes on GSN's Black and White Overnight block.

Groucho was truly one of a kind!
Imagine this Groucho today. What a guy?
Groucho! 🤣🤣🤣
I showed my mother the Groucho episode and she absolutely hated him. But she loves Steve Allen.

God, Groucho was funny! No one like him.
Arlene's and John's laugh at 1:52. 😂😂😂
And another Arlene's laugh at 2:51, 4:37 and 5:06. I have this feeling that she almost forgot she's on national tv with that laugh 😂😂😂😂
AND LETS HOPE THERE NEVER WILL BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM again
People need to breath God damn it 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭
Bill Kalivas
He was following the proud tradition of childish humour that we still see being popular in the USA.

I Love Groucho that happens to be My Favorite Episode, Elizabeth Taylor Episode is Number 2.
Maybe I'm crazy but i never found Gtoucho all that funny
🤣🤣🤣
Groucho was funny but I loved Victor too..
Who’s Victor?
The gorilla hunter...did they actually hunt gorillas to kill them?! Please, please, tell me no.
I feel like such a curmudgeon. I just found them annoying. Need to take a chill pill, clearly!
I found them to be that way too. The guys who were funny were Joey Bishop, and of course the best - Steve Allen.
Groucho Marx was obnoxious.
I think he could not stand to have anyone else get laughs and applause. He had to be the center of everything. Completely wrong for a panel show.
Groucho Marx was inconvenient, disturbing and repulsive.
I totally agree I couldn't stand him

@@TheBatugan77 if say so.....free country don't like Groucho Marx! So you stand on it!
He was a dirty Jew.

Groucho Marx was an unfunny bore.....embarrassingly juvenile without a script
