Mariafe Artacho del Solar is a fantastic athlete, and my favorite women's beach volleyball player not from the USA. But April & Alix really picked on her in this match, and basically took Clancy out of much of the contest.
Clancy also played pretty poorly, maybe even worse than her partner imo. Pretty sure she had zero stuff blocks and got tooled constantly. A-Team just looked so confident and aggressive while the Aussies were on their heels for the majority of the match
April Ross played at the Olympics before with "one of the best this game has ever seen" (Kerri Walsh). I don't think she has enough achievements to be counted among that group though.
Far more impressed with Klineman in this game than Ross. It's a pity that the Canadians were knocked out, a true upset. The Australians were just absolutely outclassed.
There's a reason why Walsh (and Jen Kessey before her) wanted Ross for a partner - because she's one of the very best in the world. And her serves and cross-court play in this match were topnotch. A full medal set, a dominant performance on the way to a gold, and being chosen to partner with two of the best ever to play (plus personally selecting Klineman & basically training her to play beach)? I'd say that's more than enough achievements to number her among the greatest of all time. Oh yeah, and she & Klineman went on and won gold at the MB Open shortly after their Olympics win.
A valiant effort by Australia. It's funny and amusing that Alix loses her visor @ 25:21 after she serves and runs towards the net. It's funny that she lost her visor a lot during these Olympics, but Alix played great as she and April were en route to the gold.
I started watching volleyball after I got into training in it and a cousin of mine has been doing it for almost 10 years now she plans on going pro (in the actual full team inside a building volleyball)
Its possible but for now since the support and training to the sport is not known and extensive....it will be very difficult...they should atleast win a sea games gold or join more tournaments for experience and to increase their rankings...
Their outfits, they wear, create friction with the air and slow them down. It would be helpful, to their performance, if they could reduce the surface area of their outfits as to decrease the air friction as they run and particularly as they jump through the air. I would recommend that they minimize their current outfits by wearing smaller and more skin tight clothing. Most of them keep tugging and pulling down on their outfits - this is a clear indication that their clothing is currently too big and too baggy.
US women's volleyball did fantastic during Tokyo Olympics. Gold in beach and in indoor.
