To me its always just been a cool, unique look. When you've got an endless stream of same-y popstars, who all sound and look the same, having just two dudes come out in crazy looking helmets really lets them stand out. At that point their music only has to be average for them to become popular, because at that point you go to their concerts and shows just to see what they'll do next.
Their music has always been a meshing of time periods and genres of music, and the robot suits and personas are just another part of that. The contrast between their technological/nonhuman/futuristic robot outfits and sounds of synths, drum machines, and vocoders mixed with the analog/human/nostalgic samples from 70s and 80s disco/funk/etc. tracks and their usage of real keyboards/guitars/bass has always been some of the defining characteristics of Daft Punk's sound.
Literally, though. That's the entire reason. They're shy as hell and don't want their faces to be seen so they can, yknow, walk out in public without getting mauled by fans.
Wow, This is actually a good video. It's not one of those cheap .. 10 reasons why this or that is wrong or not popular anymore etc.. This is well researched, and well done. And it is clear the host is a fan!

Interstella 5555 is how I discovered them 🤙🏾😎
Been a fan since Homework. Really love how the duo continue to evolve their craft with each album. They're very talented.
"Where they go next is anybody's guess, but no matter what direction they take we can be certain that their robot persona will be the one constant through it all." ROFL only a year later this statement hits 1000 times harder
2 years.
Those white outfits are beautiful. All of them are. Daft Punk aren't just musical legends, they're fashion icons too. All without showing their faces.
I've always loved their designs. They look badass and creative. The music is amazing too!
At 10:59 it looks like a visual tribute to the cover of David Bowie's Heroes.
It is.
That song is amazing.
The album writings on the ram cover also looks similar to michael jackson's thriller
Funny enough, when Thomas went on tour with DJ Falcon and Cassius in 2002, they played the David Guetta remix of Heroes as part of their set.
@@PerhapsGuy *And now... R.I.P Cassius. Not long ago this year.
*sad face* :-(

Damn..... They really used this clip for their Epilogue video. I actually happened to watch some Daft Punk related videos such as the Talk boxes covers right before Daft Punk popped a notification for the longest time of being inactive. I was even glad. Then, it turns out that they were there just to announce their split. It's really unexpected. It pains me that we can't hear them now anymore. I haven't even got the chance to go to their concerts. It's heartbreaking. I grew up listening to their songs especially on my childhood years. Around The World and Instant Crush are my favorite from them. They really made a big impact and influence not just in industry but in Music. I want to thank them for making those songs living throughout our lives. Thank you for everything, Legends. So long.
They wear helmets to be Mysterious, Intriguing, and timeless.
Its pretty clever to outwit all the dumb kids who think you have to be young to be relevant.
Sounds wise to me
This is the best video to watch regarding Daft Punk's history. No bullshit and to the point.
He’s like Patrick Bateman talking about Huey Lewis and the News
BLT omg this comment is so underrated
Hehehe
You're so right.
Who’s here after the break up announcement?☹️
Edit: Damm, thanks for 1k likes, never had soo many likes lol... and yeah, they retired, not break up, my bad. Still sad about this tho🥺
yep
Ironic
Tragic
😔
:(
Every day I find a new fact about daft punk that surprises me even more I respect those guys so much
DaftPunk: We can’t remove our helmets. “This is the way”
DaftPunk fans repeat in unison: “This is the way”
I mean they look so badass in their helmets..
This is the way.
Mandalorian remark thumbs up
i love that they set the time for there transformation at 9:09 in the morning when its there favorite drum machine
I’m really not a big fan of a lot of some similar RUclips channels (like Middle 8, Rick Beato, etc). This was just so superb that I had to sub. What a great and thorough video! Can’t wait to binge this channel
Producer: How much LED?
Daft Punk: Yes
Best Cyberpunk Bromance Arc.
That Grammy performance was crazy, one of the best live performance ever.
Thank you Daft Punk for your unbelievable music. You will be missed!
Forever in our minds and hearts 1993-2021
i've rarely seen this much professionnalism by an amateur journalist, one word : respect
Daft Punk are great, Random Access Memories is my favorite album of all time
Daft punk had a argument on stage and one of them said "goddamn helmet is stuck on my head"
so saying they an take of the helmets are fake
They were actually comedian's, since punk (silver helment) is taller than daft (golden helmet)
Thank you for everything, Daft Punk (1993-2021)
Vinyl: *Shows there faces*
Me: "Oh no they're hawt."
You’re best video yet imo! (Or maybe it’s just because I’m a huge daft punk fan) This is why I subscribed
My personal answer: its aesthetically pleasing.
Thank you for making this. Daft Punk will always be remembered by us and they’ll forever live in our hearts and memories❤️
So Excited for the Pink Floyd The Wall review!!
Why do they wear masks?
-"anomynity"
You‘re the only one that noticed 😂
Honestly, that word kinda trips me up, too.
I caught that too xD Even rewinded to verify
ANAMITTEDY
I came here for the Anomynity
The article clearly says “thrash” not trash
Good job you can read
yes

Harder, better, faster, stronger will always be one of my all time favorite songs!!
They were shy.
I just saved you 12 minutes.
Literally, though. That's the entire reason. They're shy as hell and don't want their faces to be seen so they can, yknow, walk out in public without getting mauled by fans.
maybe you saved 12 minutes for a person that is not a fan. but for the fans, it was a nice video, i like to believe.
@@SeeDVicious video could be about 10 mins shorter!
Thanks flip flop dood
@@edmenjoyer1039 lol when you solve introvertisim and judgement in one fine stroke
Daft Punk deserves to be in the music hall of fame
For doing what exactly🤔🤔🤔

everything.
Agree.
What a fucking great piece!!! This dude rocks, quick to the point but hit it all. Bravo sir!
I was so happy for them when they won the award. I been rooting for them since the 90's.
Wow, This is actually a good video. It's not one of those cheap .. 10 reasons why this or that is wrong or not popular anymore etc.. This is well researched, and well done. And it is clear the host is a fan!
I love this video, the titles focuses on just their helmets but this video just explains the excellent history of Daft Punk 🙏🏽
Tron is a masterpiece!” & it made me understand that we want and we need more concept albums. Because we love the cohesive nature.
