I am a consignment seller and I only do consignment. I have been doing it for about 10 years and currently have about 50 clients. It’s a slow process due to the vast amount of stock clients can bring but I love it! 🥰 I pay clients twice a year or whenever they ask as they usually use me as a savings pot for a particular event ( holiday/ Christmas) I take everything, clients have fallen out of love with their items which is why they are getting rid so they don’t think they hold much value! 🤣
@@AuctionMum sounds a bit like the vintage clothing agencys that were around in 90s.tgey sold your designer bits in the shop.and too a cut.
Each sale will contribute to VAT threshold if you are anywhere near that but profits from each sale are reduced due to the split. Not something for me as searching for the gems is the main fun aspect of reselling.
I seen a video about a month back where someone from Abbey Road mentioned it’s a bad idea to keep those outer plastic cover on as it can cause Condensation and even damage the records.
I have several original Mono Beatles Albums from the 60’s with the Yellow Pharlophone Label including With The Beatles.
Great video, I think that sourcing is half the fun though.
Hi Nic & Andrea, I just thought it worth mentioning this as other ebay sellers have experienced the same thing, basically yesterday eBay sent out a load of messages to ebay sellers, to inform them, that they have to upgrade their private account to a business account....I got the same message yesterday around 2pm, eBay do though as part of the deal offer 100 percent fee free until the end 2024, if you upgrade the account, I guess because eBay fear that sellers will just throw in towel, enough is enough eBay !!! but anyway it is up on the official eBay forums too, I thought it might make an interesting video etc.... Ebay confirm to me via a support call, that the you must upgrade to a business account is a tech issue and has been sent out by mistake.
@@paulwilson1555 I sell occasionally on eBay my own personal stuff when changing seasons wardrobe.this year about £350 in 6 months so I'm safe I think.
Hi, apparently its not a tech issue and the emails are real (confirmed by ebay on one of the forum posts) 😩😩........if you search the community thread titled "Tech support email mistake" there is a big discusssion about it....looks like customer service are clueless and the emails are real.
I've done consignment once, mid winter when I was desperate for stock. Never again. Too complicated and once stock became plentiful again, I lost interest in the consignment items. Best avoided, bit that's just my opinion. It might work if you had a lot of very high value items.
Great video Nic, I do about 10% of my stock on consignment, it adds some interest and variety to my items particularly working part time it works quite nicely - but I am very upfront the process can take a long time! I only work with 1-2 people in order to keep track of it. It certainly does give me a push to get things listed too. The VAT point was an interesting one and a good tip, thanks!
Totally would never do this again. Did this for a friend whose mother had passed. The rows they tried to have over eBay fees and my commissions were unbelievable. Even though I had supplied printouts of eBay fees for each item. It was an awful experience. I’m no longer friends with them surprisingly 😅😅😅
Hey - looking forward to bidding on the cameras - also the content as always is brilliant - thanks for the upload
I also don't like to do consignment, I prefer to show the person how to sell it themselves.... lol. But they pull such a face! That was cool stuff though.
There’s a website that explains all Beatles presses. The live Hollywood is £10 at most
We had 12 Beatles albums frim 60s.my partners collection.was suprised to find they had no great value.passed on to my son who loves collecting vynil.
@@Nese9663 Yeah it depends on what pressing they are I have a second pressing of one of their Albums they aren’t worth as much as people think,if I Remember Ringo has the very first Record made of one of their albums and I think Please Please Me sold for £12,000.

Hi Nic, silly question related to what you were saying about tax, how do you deal with free stuff (from family and friends etc) where you keep all the profit? Do you just take the hit on the tax?
Love your and Andrea's videos BTW 😊
rubber soul is an aussie press which may make it more sought after/ the beatles second is us press, maybe canada, as this was not released in uk (in uk second studio lp was wtb). Help looks like a yb stereo pressing, which is more uncommon than the mono variant.
The last few live ones arent up to much commercially
Too much hassle if item gets lost or returns
14 day return window means always on edge
What about tax ?
Great video I can send this to a friend who wants me to sell stuff for him but he’s not keen on me having half after fees! Thinks I should just get a bit of commission
Abit of commission to do all the work lol tell him to jog on. If he wants most of the profit he can sell it himself

Consignment is an anti-procrastination deal you can't sit on it for months probably a good thing in your case Nic lols
Yes good point !!
Have watched Tommy trades videos. He seems to have done the odd consignment. Good luck nic
Hi Nic, I think my senility is kicking in, I understand that you are splitting the profit, but does that mean you agree a sale price with the supplier first? So for example, for a camera that you say is worth £100, have you agreed that the seller gets say £60 and then you share the £40? Apologies if I have misunderstood.
No sale price agreed in advance - just the split of whatever the profit ends up being
Interested how you deal with tax to be paid to HMRC on consignment selling. I assume that tax comes off whatever profits you make before sharing payout.
@@cardinalcanary1 Tax is paid on profit. If the consignee invoices you, and you then make them a payment, that is a deductible expense.
