  • I happened to be in NYC recently, and took the opportunity to talk with Paul Irish. We chatted about Lighthouse, HTML5 Boilerplate, YayQuery, and how it is an experienced developer like Paul came to specialize in one particular area.

Paul Irish's face is priceless on this b-roll. I can hear him thinking ”do you really want me to simply walk and stare just like you're not there”?

Nah he was good for it. He knew what the b roll needed having seen the one with my brother

Good to see Paul Irish after such a long time, he suddenly disappeared, I thought he picked a different carrier.

I'm dying laughing when you asked him, "Or you are just like it's coffee or water". Paul, I mean Paul Irish, is a natural doing the outtro. Always fun to watch your videos, Paul, yeah, it's you this time. lol. Thanks again for creating great content here. Love it.

This was so good! Genuinely laugh out loud material, particularly at that revelation about Paul's coffee tastes. :)
You're getting very good at doing these videos. Thanks for working on them for us. Good job!

Loved the topic you chose to focus on, in this interview. I completely relate with the feeling of overwhelm when looking at all those options available for the frontend. To top it, we are also expected to have a decent understanding of backend (which is reasonable) to become a "ninja". I sometimes do feel like there is just so much ground to cover in the frontend that I may never be able to start exploring backend, or systems engineering. I would love to get your advice on how to do that. When is the right time to gather some horizontal understanding of web-development (backend, frontend, systems/devops), while still deepening our understanding of one subject, especially as 'junior web-developers'?

Seriously need a series for this. Who's next in the upcoming episode? A trailer will be great, perhaps.

I was thinking the same, I was wondering if you did the editing yourself, I guess you do? Would love to see a video, or blog post regarding your setup, hardware, software etc…
