Yes, you may discard the Dead End from the cards revealed caused by a Prophecy. They're not part of your hand anyway, so nothing stops you. In fact, you can discard ANY one of the cards revealed caused by the Prophecy, the only exception being Doors. You only can't choose the 1-card discard action and discard the Dead End regularly and you can't play them either, but other ways of discarding them are legal.
