This is the best instrument comparison in any genre on RUclips. Partly because of his outstanding set up and commentary but also the gorgeous sound demo at the end. I don't play guitar much but I want a Taylor really bad now. Grand concert is the one for me. Thanks!
Everytime a watch one of Chris’s videos I’m compelled to pick up my acoustic and play!! I love your playing!!! You should start doing Acoustic tips tricks and techniques videos!!!! I’d binge it nightly!!!!!
I picked up a bt2 during the Taylor Days 2020 sale. I play it very often and must say it's a great travel guitar, pretty audible sound for its size. I try to bring it with me any chance I get, it usually gets positive feedback when it's heard.
I’m a paraplegic so play laying in bed. I started out with the baby Taylor but would like to step up to a bigger guitar if I’m able too. Do the GS mini would be too big ?
Thanks, Chris. I always enjoy stopping to watch these videos. As Andy Powers would say, "As you travel life's highway, don't forget to stop and smell the guitars."
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the login password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Avi Aron thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great breakdown of shapes/sizes. So glad you played them back to back. At first I thought you weren't going to play them at all and almost bailed half way through. This was definitely the best way to compare the sounds (all at once). Thanks for the great comparison.
Hey just wanted to tell you this is by far the best Taylor comparison video on RUclips. You covered everything and answered all my questions. No other video needed. Thank you
I just bought a Taylor gs mini koa after Christmas, I LOOOOVE it!!! It has so much projection, it's crazy! I have a Breedlove Persuit Concerto myrtlewood, which sounds really big and rich- well, that little Taylor surprised me, I never thought a guitar that small could sound that big! I play it as much as the Breedlove🥰
Great comparison, I’m pretty much sold on the 614ce thanks to yours and other videos. Nice to hear it back to back with the GP, I might have to have both. Haha. The grand concert is excellent as well.
Thank you for the comparison. I really love my Academy 10 and I am leaning towards a grand Auditorium in a couple of years. This really does make it pretty clear for me.
This is such an excellent video. I adore Taylor and own 310 which was stolen. Now looking for 314 GA. Your analysis of Taylor is just the best i have ever heard. Bob Taylor should be impressed. Stunning. Thank you!
This is so helpful. Exactly what is was looking for while shopping for my next guitar. I am a small person with small hands plus some neck issues that make the size of the guitar very important to me. The guitar options out there are numerous and also very confusing and this answered all my questions.
You're working hard and I dig that, man. I needed to know about Taylors and of course I ended up at Alamo. You're a wealth of knowledge, Chris and the videos are always worthwhile
Great presentation. Thanks. I never tried a GT and wish I could try one. However I got a 512 12 fret a few months ago and love it. Very happy with my decision.
ad12e Is one I would love to see Chris review he does an amazing job, It’s rare, solid wood American made but grand concert body shape and v bracing, Bob and Andy are sneaky and cheeky
I started playing 6 months ago and started with a Baby, just bought a GS Mini Koa e and I can’t put it down. Probably played for 7hrs the first day I got it
Sort of missed the Big Baby, didn't you? I would sort of like to know how the BBT with a 25.5 inch scale actually would play differently than the Academy . Or, the GS Mini. Although Big Baby has the full length scale, it is smaller and shallower in the body.
Being a lefty the realistic availability is limited but I am in the market for a grand concert sized Taylor. Just can't decide between the 12 or the 14 fret.
I've owned martins and still do ,Gibson's, Tats, Yamaha,Guild, seagull ,Collins, Blue ridge, Hus& Dalton, and many many more and Taylor is my favorite guitars out there, I love there sound there feel ,I have seven Taylor's and I 💕 them all ,614ce614ce builders edition,814 ce DLX v brace,816 ce,914ce, K-24 ce v brace, and baby Taylor ,I had a 418 ce and a guy talked me into selling it to him I'm still crying over that guitar lol. They are expensive but there worth it,My wife says no more because I have Martins to,I am like Martin but I love Taylor guitars ,I will have a Grande pacific,And 912 twelve string I am won't have a wife probably but I'll have my guitars.
That dittie you play always make me a little sad. I discovered your videos shortly after losing my job in 2020. The good thing is I have played guitar every day but one since the beginning of May. So I guess it’s not all bad.
I enjoy all your videos but one I'd be interested in seeing is, is a Taylor 324ce builders edition say a better guitar than say a 5 or 6 series Taylor. Just something I've never seen discussed and would love to know your opinion. Thx
For me the GT is unnecessary and I still would have preferred an all solid wood GS despite the lack of tonal benefit. When are these companies going to start listening to their customers and give then what they ask for instead of telling us what we want?
I owned the XX anniversary edition of the Grand Auditorium at the same time as a Larrivee L-10. They were remarkably similar and the L body was the older design. Any inspiration there? Weren't there some ties between Bob Taylor and John Larrivee? Also, the older Martin M-36 should be mentioned, as well.
Size info is available on Taylor Guitars dot com, and the current issue of Wood & Steel describes model numbering and specs by series. Deep diving... I can tell you that my Breedlove Exotic Concert E fits Gator Cases 000 model, and is about 1/2" larger in each dimension than the GC size Academy 12. Larry Breedlove brought his concert body guitar to work one day, so he and Bob Taylor drew out the shape, squeezed here, pulled there, and developed Taylor's GC body shape. As Chris "*" McKee, Andy Powers, Hozen (Maestro Guitars) and many will say, a lot more than the dimensions factor into the sound produced by any guitar. Andy Powers spoke on picks and strings last year in an episode of Taylor Guitars Primetime (on RUclips, Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Pacific), encouraging experimentation with strings beyond the stock versions, "Think of the strings like the tires on a car. What do you want to do with it?" I have 11-52 and 11-50 sets waiting to replace 12-53 D'Addarios and Elixirs, and a set of hybrid 12-53s (probably for the Breedlove). Like the difference between bias ply and radials, my 'mileage may vary,' but that's where fun is found. Thanks, Tim. "The water's fine, just dive in!"
So many ......maybe ......too many types / styles ????? I play mostly 00 size guitars . Bigger ( for me) is not better. Good review though. Enjoyed it.
So apart from a little bass THEY ALL SOUND THE BLOODY SAME!!! Size and comfort is the thing (plus the look). How about a blindfold challenge. Pick 6 and see if you know what they are. Dares Ya
How can Americans use inches and fractal inches, it's so hard to understand. Just use the metric system 😂, there's a reason why it's called international. So confusing

There's at least one lesson video he has from a few months ago here on the channel.
2:00 Baby Taylor - also good to handle for guitar playing wheelchair users like me.

@@benallmark9671 I think it would be perfect! I don't know why they even still make the Baby. The GS Mini is so much better.
Just purchased the GS mini-e quilted sapele limited edition as a Christmas present to myself. I alternate between playing it and hugging it.
Thanks, Chris. I always enjoy stopping to watch these videos. As Andy Powers would say, "As you travel life's highway, don't forget to stop and smell the guitars."
26:49 - Chris, we seriously need tabs or a tutorial for that beautiful song using that simple chord structure! Sounds like an amazing warmup!

@Anthony Deandre Instablaster ;)
@Avi Aron thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now.

@Avi Aron It worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D

@Anthony Deandre Happy to help xD
Great breakdown of shapes/sizes. So glad you played them back to back. At first I thought you weren't going to play them at all and almost bailed half way through. This was definitely the best way to compare the sounds (all at once). Thanks for the great comparison.
The GT sounded surprisingly great and so did the grand concert and grand auditorium.
When he started to play the Grand Concert I smiled.
So rich.

No one cares 🤡
The sound test at the end, made the whole video so much meaningful. Thanks because I habe been shopping.
The effort that you put into these videos - Thank you so much.
Just like your steel vs nylon string "which is better? " between the GT 811e and 812ce 12 fret. The answer is 'both.'
Taylor’s new Wood and Steel magazine has the GT depth at 4 1/4”....... other than that you are spot on with the GT measurements......nice job!

Is the academy 10 small? It’s supposed to be a 15/16 size dreadnought
@@redlycan23 it is smaller than a standard dreadnought. I like it and it is good for me to learn on.
This is the exact video I wanted from the internet. Thank you!
This is such an excellent video. I adore Taylor and own 310 which was stolen. Now looking for 314 GA. Your analysis of Taylor is just the best i have ever heard. Bob Taylor should be impressed.

Thanks for the great overview, Chris. I bought a GT UA last November and absolutely love it. It's my first solid wood guitar and it's wonderful!
"Bring the thunder" i love that line🤘
This video is great. It's exactly what you need as you shop for a Taylor. Thanks.
Wow, this was a great video. Thank you very much for taking the time to put this together!

Those Taylor 12 frets looks so dope tbh
Love the explanation and comparison between models as you progress up the range.
Just bought your Taylor 254CE Grand Auditorium 12 string On reverb. My first Taylor and I can’t wait! 🤙🏼
Chris is a great presenter in this video, and he does a good job playing. Well done 👍
Outstanding video! Thanks
Fair winds and following seas to all.
good man!!!! always so exhaustive!!
Man that Grand Pacific stood out among them all. Really rich sounding with this old, dusty dobro sound that was remarkable. Bravo Taylor!
Really excellent presentation! Thanks Chris!
Well done. That Pacific speaks to me.
great body shape run down... Excellent again Chris.
Im getting addicted to your channel.
ad12e Is one I would love to see Chris review he does an amazing job, It’s rare, solid wood American made but grand concert body shape and v bracing, Bob and Andy are sneaky and cheeky
I needed this orientation to guitar body sizes.
THANKS FOR THIS VIDEO !!
Great comparison. Thanks.
Great service! Could you do a video like this for Martin too pls? ♥
Nice choice of tune to demonstrate different xounds
The Taylor nylon strings (Academy, 214, maybe others) have a 1 7/8 inch nut width.
Your videos are phenomenal man. God's work.
Man you have the greatest reviews on guitars, thanks so much.
Gp for the win.. grand pacifics are the tone for me. Mostly the spuce rosewood variations. But honestly the baby sounds the best lmfao.
Chris, I got the GT specs off the website.
Yeah, they added them after we filmed. Go figure.
Great job. Appreciate the vast amount of information.
Awesome job with this, Chris
Great review. Thanks. Loved the demo too.
Thanks Chris. Great job!
Very very helpful, thank you!
I started playing 6 months ago and started with a Baby, just bought a GS Mini Koa e and I can’t put it down. Probably played for 7hrs the first day I got it
How much bigger is it ? I ask because I’m a paraplegic and play laying in bed. I play the baby now but want the GS mini
Excellent video. Very helpful
I always so enjoy your videos! 👏
Great review, Chris.
Great video!
Excellent video as always. Really helpful. Please tell Andy to get on with some more dreadnoughts with short scales (h*mm¥€gb÷rds!)
I wish Martin would make a bigger-bodied guitar with a shorter scale length like Taylor’s newer grand symphonies.
Sort of missed the Big Baby, didn't you? I would sort of like to know how the BBT with a 25.5 inch scale actually would play differently than the Academy . Or, the GS Mini. Although Big Baby has the full length scale, it is smaller and shallower in the body.

You didn't touch on the 214 ce are any of those just the high-end.
Great Video, thanks. How about a similar one for Martin !!

Strongly considering 326ce :)
Really informative video. Thanks Chris. Question: are you familiar with the Taylor 510 model circa '82?
That dittie you play always make me a little sad. I discovered your videos shortly after losing my job in 2020. The good thing is I have played guitar every day but one since the beginning of May. So I guess it’s not all bad.
Never stop playing the music - it is always there for you no matter what. Your optimism is inspiring.
Best of luck to you
The only reason that tune makes me sad is that I can't play it. I love Chris's playing.
Excellent
I enjoy all your videos but one I'd be interested in seeing is, is a Taylor 324ce builders edition say a better guitar than say a 5 or 6 series Taylor. Just something I've never seen discussed and would love to know your opinion. Thx
good job.... thank u..
That was awesome.
Is that a specific song he is playing or is it something original? I love it.
25:54 The GO shape should have 20 5/8" in length, not 25 5/8.
oooh....where can I get a pink baby?
Which one doesn't have the nasty metallic ring from the bridge that all 9 of the Taylors across body sizes and models that I've purchased had?
Don't like Taylor get something else no one is forcing you to like Taylor guitars ,But I'm one who loves these guitars and I think your nuts
You forget taylor bigbaby

Taylor GS Mini Koa E Plus vs GT Urban Ash. Which one would be a better deal?
boohoo where s the Big Baby Taylor :) ok, aside from that, this is the best
KUDOS. Could you put in the graphics the measures in cm to us here on the other side of the pound😏
Multiply by 2.54 😉

You've mention andy mckee and you are chirst mckee so here's me question "are you both brothers?"
