  • Devin answers whether Genesis video was kind of statement to all these flooding reaction videos (vocal teacher reacts to Devin etc). Very intersting.

    I found out about Devin through one of those reaction vids. I had honestly never heard of him prior to 2 days before Empath's release. Through the reaction video, I found the video for Genesis and I was immediately blown away. I bought Empath the day it came out and haven't been able to bring myself to listen to anything else since. The "demo" tracks are so, so good. It's safe to say that I am completely enthralled with his music.

      You have a great journey ahead of you. I recommend Terria and Causalities of Cool just to see how wide his music is.

      @kalle kanin I had not. I heard of Steve Vai, but never listened to any of his music, either. Devin is still completely new to me and he's amazing

      Ocean Machine was his first and arguably still his best album. The closing tracks of Funeral, Bastard and The Death Of Music are some of the best songs in existence. And then he somehow surpassed that when he played them during his performance at The Royal Albert Hall. The man is truly a musical genius.

    He may never be the richest, the most recognized, but he is truly an artist. He never compromises, and we are better for him. He's a luminary... Go SEE HIM WHEN HE COMES TO TOWN!

      Fun fact: Devin was thinking about doing a more commercially successful record, but Nickelback's Chad Kroeger convinced him to just do what he believes must be done. Therefore: Empath.

    Devin is so awesome, and so unique I really get a kick out of seeing people's minds being blown for the first time. As someone too afraid to set foot on a stage I can absolutely understand being uncomfortable watching those reactions.

    Thanks TS The dichotomy of the commanding singer and musician - to the to a super down to earth dude. My son was into Marylyn Manson and a ton of depressing dark music growing up. I wish I could have been able to turn him onto Devy and his positive, not preachy - just killer awesomeness

      @@FinneousPJ1 I guarantee you that if his son got big into Enya (for example) instead of Manson, there probably would have been less cutting, if any. If you haven't yet learned how emotional stimulus (including music) injects seeds and fertilizer into the mind of the person taking it in, that's on you to go and learn. Garbage in, garbage out.

    I can understand that, from the artist point of view, watching these, is a bit weird and uncomfortable to do. For us music fans it is a great resource though. Watching these you get to find out about music you might otherwise miss out on altogether.
    Of course u have to wade through a ton of fake reactions/fake vocal coaches. But there are a few gems there that are always great to watch.

    • @ToveriJuri
      @ToveriJuri 3 года назад +1

      When it's an actually knowledgeable vocal coach or singer those reaction videos can be downright amazing. There's one guy who fully goes into how different type of vocals are generated and then replicates and tries to teach how it's done at the same time.
