Currently down a rabbit hole of reactions to this video and man you are absolutely hilarious. Had to hit that sub! Love how you try to take apart the meaning of the song and your authenticity and appreciation for artists doing their thing. Tbh I’ve been listening to this song for a while now but only found out yesterday that he does it all solo which blew my mind hence the rabbit hole, and yes the more I watch it the more it touches my soul, I’ve had a fire reignited in me to try do things I never thought I could, and roll the bones. I wish you well on your journey brother!
Roll the Bones was written by Rush back in the 1990’s. Neil Peart once said that the song was that you could have the best plans in the world but life is still gonna happen to screw it up. Take a chance something bad might come out it- but at the same time something good could as well. You won’t know until you roll the dice.
And letʻs not sleep on the fact that ol' Shakey was playing a bass drum and tambourine that were set up behind him by stomping down with his heels the whole time. Dude probably can't walk after a show, has to be carted offstage in a wheelbarrow.
Shakey Graves is one of those artists that you either love him or you don't. I happen to really enjoy his stuff. It's very creative and sometimes a bit bombastic, but that's what I think appeals to me. Here's another song from that same studio performance "Shakey Graves -Built To Roam - Audiotree Live" there are other artists that kind of fit in the same category such as Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, you may want to check out some "Bob Dylan - Shelter From The Storm (Official Audio)" Bob's one of the legends of folk music. Enjoyed your reaction Sceez
