BCFD Responding to Structure Fire | 3/4/19

  • Bcfd Volunteer Fire Department responding to a mutual Aid house fire in the nearby town Cushing. Also assisting on scene were apartments from Correctonville and Holstein. We got called out at about 9:30 PM and were gone until 2 am. We responded with 4 trucks and about 12 guys. Trucks taken in order: 374, 371, 379, 373

    We use green emergency lights for our pov and I have two one a 1970 Ford and a 2020 Chevy and I been working there for one year from now

      Where are you located? The videos in Battle Creek, Iowa and Iowa state laws says volunteers can have blue lights some have blue and white

    Where does the red flashing light bouncing off of the building and pad originate? Is it a POV light left on? Just curious. Do you use any editing software?

      I cant go to calls for another month yet. When I can, I'll have a gopro on my helmet

    The last Freightliner engine that pulled out, how long ago did your dept purchase it and do you know where it is from? It is very familiar to my neighboring depts ex-engine. Mannsville Manor Fire Dist (29-4-1) in Northern NY

    looks like some folks need to read mutual aid agreements to see what units are 2nd and 3rd due. looks like some confusion

      for your info the second unit is our Chief. On this particular call we were the 4th department called in, so manpower was the need.

      Man power was needed means bring a full truck not the entire dept. especially if you were fourth dept called

    I noticed y'all took 4 trucks to another town.
    From what i see there is only 1 truck left at the station. What happens if y'all have a fire in your town?

      We dont have enough calls to worry about that. If we do, we have mutual aid only a few minutes away

      Mutual aid. A chief can request an apparatus from another company transfer to their station so as to cover their calls.

    Why I in the did it take so long to respond to the fire, I've never seen anything so slow. Did you get there before it burned itself out.

      We are a volunteer department, sorry for not meeting cities expectations. Also it was ten o'clock at night so most of us were sleeping because we have real jobs

      @@nathanieltarr893 I understand being a volunteer, I was for years and understand late night calls. But to there was no sense of urgency. Going back to get something from there truck.

      @@nathanieltarr893 I’m surprised that your company doesn’t have a bunk room so people can stay there overnight so as to cover calls. When I was younger I lived at a volunteer fire house & all that was asked of us was to cover overnight calls.

      @@camdenreeder7710 if you are talking about the white one than yes, it is gone and we replaced it with a brush truck. The 3rd out truck is our main tanker. It is newer and very reliable

      @John Kugelfischer Sorry to upset you John. Just saying they did not seem to be reacting to an emergency. Drivers respond to station, the rest respond to site of fire. Apparatus can't wait for all to show up at station. Do not like your language either, you numb nutted prick.

      @@billdacitizan380 It really depends on the department and their policy's, some departments wont let Firefighters respond to calls in their POV's and some will. It's really for safety I presume. My department wants us to go to the station and get on a truck, but we can go POV if were closer enough to the call, especially for Medicals.
