    Hey Christine,
Sorry about your break up :( you're one of my favorite youtubers, and def one of the few that I trust. Thanks for being open with us. It made me love and appreciate you more. I feel like people constantly hide their problems and breakups, so it's refreshing to hear someone openly talk about it on their platform in a real/mature way. I'm from Houston TX! if you're ever around, I'd love to recommend some food or bars!

Girl you should film your trips. Use it as a diary and say how those moments make you feel. If you like talking to the camera, letting your thoughts out, it would be a great idea. It would not only help you but also your fans. Plus you can record this moment in your life, which sounds like a very big turn in the road.

I went through a breakup and it was the most awful feeling ever. My tip is to be honest with yourself! My mother was straight with me and said " he doesn't want to be with you and you need to accept that. " it sounds horrible but it helped me so much rather than hearing " it'll be ok, sweetheart ". " you're strong " just give it time and go out and do things. and you will be ok , haha. i promise.

Maria Munoz I just took my first long-ish trip to Chicago last month, and I am SO ready to visit again in the summer. It's the most beautiful big city I've been to in America (I've been to most of them). Art Deco heaven ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so sorry about your breakup. It's ridiculously difficult. Honestly, I don't think that traveling and keeping yourself busy are a bad thing to do right now. It's self-preservation and a form of denial, which is super healthy. Let yourself hurt and then show yourself some exquisite self-care. Be around people you love and cry when you need to. Also, take long drives and pull over to cry now and again. Sending you good vibes. xo

A dog from the shelter will give you so much love and devotion. They are wise - they have gone through a lot because people have treated them badly, but they can love as no one has ever loved them before. They may have a traumatic past and scars but who doesn't. You should go to the shelter and see what wonderful creatures are waiting there to die. Please consider this!
I recommend visiting Spain (so close to Marocco!) and Iceland.
    Good luck!

Christine, I'm sorry to hear about your breakup. I went through a breakup last year in October, in the middle of my first semester of graduate school. Strangely enough, it was during that time I found your channel and started to get interested in skincare. It's been seven months and I've just now started to finally feel like myself again, and knowing that it takes time doesn't make it any easier. But a lot of positive things came out of it for me --- I started taking care of my skin, got into exercise, and learned to say no to people in order to prioritize my well being. I hope that everything goes well for you in the coming weeks, and I think traveling and finding things to keep your mind off of it is the best thing to do. Thank you for sharing your experiences in your videos, it's what makes your GRWM's my favorite on youtube.

Breakups suck. Completely. I'm married for a long time now, but after my first serious breakup I would advise my younger self to stop thinking you'll get back together and please go out and have some casual, fun dates... 😊I'm from Ireland - I think you would love it here, come visit after the summer! Sending hugs xx

Focus on your long term goals and make it happen. Make every moment count. I have been going to the gym and catching up with friends I lost touch with. Its been helping me out tremendously. Christine you look absolutely glowing in this video. I know you're going through a rough time, but you are looking radiant as ever (which is a great thing)!
From my experience, allowing myself to actually be sad for a while really helps. I set aside a period of time to dwell in the sadness of losing someone and talked about it with my friends, but only for a limited period of time. After that time I had to pull myself together and stop talking about it.
Also spending time with myself helped. Do something that makes you feel happy, and try to make yourself happy again. Not anyone else, but yourself. You are a beautiful person that deserves to be and can be happy again!
And don't reminisce on the good times. After the time period I set for myself, every time I felt sad about it I reminded myself about why it ended instead of thinking about the good times, and that helped put things in perspective and stopped me from feeling sad.
Love you, all the best! I hope you have a great time wherever you decide to go. ❤️

Sending hugs mama. Breakups are the absolute pits. Also - I think travel is the best thing! Definitely not running away from anything... don't let anyone make you feel that way. After a five year relationship with my first love ended, I did a solo trip to Bali... I can't even begin to describe how healing the magic of that place is. Yoga, a million ice cold coconuts, and the jungle really turned it around for me. I came home feeling so strong and hopeful and rebooted, and that year actually ended up being one of the best of my life. Would be happy to send recs :) Keep your head up girl x PS - come to Seattle! Just moved up here from Venice and its beyond awesome this time of year.

I don't see traveling after a breakup as running away from your problems at all! I think that's a great way to really focus on yourself and heal. I mean, you can always face your emotions and cry in hotel rooms! But then wake up the next morning and be reminded that life is whatever and wherever you want it to be. It's honest perspective. My love goes to you!

  • @thereversepolarbear
    @thereversepolarbear 7 лет назад +9

I think that travelling is a good idea, if it makes you happy - you should do it. I think it's totally healthy and fine to simultaneously feel multiple emotions (happy to be travelling, sad when you remember the breakup). The only thing about visiting people, is to make sure you have some personal space, because sometimes if you are with other people you can feel obligated to be nice or what ever. And I have heard you shouldn't be blocking emotions out really. If possible, if you feel sad and need to spend time in bed feeling sad you should do it. I think it's like having a sick day - and you watch nice movies, and pamper yourself. And it can give you energy to go on with the new fun stuff. But then you know, life is about compromise and sometimes being forced to think about other people can help you feel better too because it gets you out of yourself. Also try watching some Byron Katie videos, they can give you a really cool perspective on grief and letting go of people.

We seem to react to breakups the same way. There's something healing about being in a new place, don't rush yourself into immediately dealing with something so big.

Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about your break up. I've been there, and it's a feeling of being without ground, a feeling of being lost, especially after being with someone for so long. Just give it time, and allow yourself to feel, experience, change and grow. This experience will transform you (even though you may not see it now), I know it will. You are an amazing woman, who inspired me while I was moving from Brazil to Michigan. I never thought I would relate to someone on youtube so much until I found you, and I'm glad I did! Remember that, even though your relationship was long, the longest relationship you will ever have is with yourself, and thats the one you need to work on. Give yourself love, give yourself care, and most importantly, give yourself time. You will need time. Come to Detroit if you ever get the chance, and I will be glad to meet and show you around! Or if you ever feel like going to Brazil, I can show you the best places to visit!
May all these comments remind you of how much you are loved.

    hi christine!
you've been one of my favorite youtubers for a long time and have introduced me to so many brands and products. futhermore, you've shown me some ways of thinking and carrying myself that really have helped me grow into a 20-something i can be proud of! i recently broke up with my boyfriend of 5 years, who i lived with, and i know how hard it is to suddenly go from having a person by your side to not having them at all. it's a complete and utter loss and nothing can prepare you for it, not even "seeing it coming." keep yourself busy, take all your energy and throw it into new experiences, self care, developing your interests and hobbies. i know that's easier said than done (i'm 9 months out and still haven't gotten to the point where i feel comfortable with throwing my energy into new things), but as long as that's the goal you're working toward, i think you'll find a lot of fulfillment in the sorrow of it all. you know? be gentle with yourself. sorry, tl;dr, you seem to be such an incredible person and i'm rooting for you. DEFINITELY go to minneapolis this summer-i'm born and raised there and can confidently say it's one of the best places to spend july boating and eating good food and being around truly kind people. if you need recommendations, hit me up! :)

Christine I am such a fan and appreciate your openness as you go through this chapter of your life. It's good that you're aware that you must feel your sadness but traveling is actually a great way to heal. You're still young and rather than stay cooped up go out and find yourself again, this new post break up version of yourself. And yes, write and talk!! Just putting into words what you're feeling will help you figure out your emotions and find closure.
Also, love the look!! I'm such a fan of very minimal and fresh make up. Wishing you well!

My tip from a devastating breakup is as soon as u start to reminisce and think of something sweet or something u miss about that person force urself to remember a bad thing instead. It starts to desensitize you to that person and not feel overly positive about that person as we tend to do when we look back

Escaping and reconnecting with yourself after you stop being part of an us/we is important. I would recommend visiting Sunrise Springs in Santa Fe. I went there last year for some major healing and it was transformative. Reconnecting with my artist self and being around diverse people. Also, I vote a definite YES, on a dog. My sister got her puppy 3 years ago, and that pup (her name is Daphne) has transformed our lives! I'm just her auntie, but she's just a constant reminder that living life to the fullest is a choice and to take pleasure in everything no matter what the routine. (She came from Seaspray Labradoodles in St Pete). Hang in there though. You are a beautiful spirit that shares so much of themselves with the world. And I for one am grateful to have stumbled across you! xo Adrian

I visited San Antonio and I was so surprised when I got there because I didn't know about the River Walk. There was no one walking around in the city in the evening, so I parked somewhere and went to explore, turns out the whole night life is beneath the city. So cool. One of my favorite places.

Hi Christine, I always love watching your videos. It's funny, because I also just got out of a five-year relationship that I adored. It's a major loss. While every relationship and break up is different, what I can tell you is that it does get better. Life comes together and then it falls apart, and then it comes together again, and then it falls apart again. Life is full of immense beauty and also pain, yin and Yang. Like you, I have gotten a ton of amazing support from being open and honest with my friends and social networks about what's going on. I also happen to have a lot of PTSD and deep feelings of abandonment to a Traumatic childhood (no parents) that this breakup has been triggering. I think what you're doing is great: traveling and continuing to do the things that you enjoy. Feel the feelings - give them space - and then know when to give you a little break from the feels. You will certainly get through this, and you will see why you went through this later. Not sure if this helps, but if not, just know that I'm rooting for you. Much love, Esme

As always I enjoy watching your videos Christine, I love hearing your feedback on products, music taste and because I myself go and purchase them and love them as much too-I just wanted to let you know that speak as much as you want about how you're feelings, it's important to be vulnerable and raw. I'm glad to hear you're going to write and travel-anything that lifts you up and makes you happy it's okay. We're here for you!

Keep traveling! After my breakup, all I did was go to school, then work, then straight to my room. I didn't do anything beyond that. If I made myself go out more, even travel more, I feel that I would've gotten over things a lot faster. Traveling, for me, has been the best thing I could've done.

This is the first time I've watched one of your videos and I really love watching you in front of the camera and just chatting with us. Like, your face/smile/voice makes me immediately trust you and now I have a friend crush. You seem really sincere! (That's the word I was looking for). I'm from Washington. Seattle is obviously fun. Ocean Shores is a popular destination. The think going the most NW you possibly can in WA would be gorgeous. Salt Lake City is a great foodie spot. Arizona has amazing scenery.

Hey Christine, I'm so sorry to hear about your break up. I went through something similar last summer and ended up traveling for 4-5 weeks to keep my mind occupied. It really, really helped. I allowed myself the space to be awed by new surroundings and food and people, etc. but I also couldn't help but reflect on my old relationship and talk through it with new people (and also some old friends I visited!). I hope you have amazing travels and come home with a fresh perspective! Totally come to Western MA or Southern VT! I'm biased, but I think it's one of the most beautiful regions in the country, especially in the summer. There are so many charming towns, beautiful hikes, cool bars.

Hi christine, it's so weird how i find myself going through stuff and thinking and thinking, and then see you talk about that same thing in a video over and over again. I'm also in the process of going through a breakup and what's helped the most is making progress. You talked about how going away is kinda like running from your problems, and it is - but if it feels right then do it at least for now when it still feels raw. But when you come back choose something, a project that you can work on and make progress whether it be work, a hobby or lifestyle choices. Progress is key. I hope this helps you like it's kinda helping me. Sending lots of love from finland. xx

Hi Christine - weird thing - I was about your age when my 6 and 1/2 year relationship ended. It definitely feels heavy and you don't want to bum your friends out so it's difficult to get through it it seems. I did a lot of writing and listened to a lot of Ani DiFranco (along with a slew of other music) at the time. It also helped that I got an opportunity to move to a different city for a new job. I'd say the silver lining would be that you don't live close to one another so it makes for some headspace for you, which is good. I set a "grieving deadline" of 3 months for myself which I found helped immensely. During that time, I let myself go through whatever emotions I needed to - a cathartic mental and emotional cleansing. As long as you have a good support system and you don't let your sadness cripple you, you'll find yourself back in a happy place before you know it.

I am so sorry to hear about your break--up! Traveling is awesome after a break up but don't forget facing the pain and going through the tears and everything you need to face the pain. You can listen to peoples advice all you want but remember you are your own person and everyone faces things differently. You don't owe anyone an explanation as to your course of healing. You do it at your own pace. That is the best way to go through these things with time. Just remember you can get through it and one day you'll look back and be so okay with everything. Love you and your videos!

I think it's good for you to do things for yourself during a break up. You said it yourself that you know it's what you need, so that means you're doing right by yourself. You should allow yourself to feel what you feel, but that doesn't always mean sadness. I think it's more about allowing yourself to just process the break up as well as possible. Also, I'm not sure if it really takes half the amount of time of the relationship, I was with someone for only a year and it took me two years. Focusing on yourself and reflecting on your feelings over time will help you, but go at your own pace. Also, as far as international travel, I HIGHLY recommend going to Budapest in Hungary! It's one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen in my life and it's very easy to take a train there from Austria or surrounding cities.

I just started a trip overseas for the next two months - Europe and then onwards to southwest US. I've struggled with mental health problems for a few years and I've found all this time alone with myself quite difficult - it's a struggle and definitely forces you to be alone with what's troubling you, but in the long term I think it's important to learn how to listen to yourself think, and travelling alone kind of forces you to do that. Good luck w/ everything Christine ❤️ (PS - staying in Echo Park during my time in LA next month as a result of yr videos. Yr my favourite by far!)

First off I want to give you a big warm momma hug! I hate to see you in pain. That being said, I recently read an article about emotional pain. Basically it's the same as physical pain. It was recommended that you take an ibuprofen like you would if you were physically hurting. Because, well, it is physical. Talking about it often reopens the feelings. I don't know if I totally agree with not processing feelings. You're feeling this way for a reason. I just wanted to put that out there.
On a personal note, my husband and I were on the verge of divorce 2 years ago. I went to my hometown and spent time with childhood friends. It was amazing! Some wonderful women. My parents actually weren't helpful but my relationship with them and their views gave me another perspective on my marriage. I couldn't listen to music. I would just cry over any song. So I listened to lots of podcasts. Chris Hardwick kept me sane lol. I realized that I'm still growing emotionally. Even in my 40s! You're such a wonderfully creative person. I know you'll dig deep and use this experience for growth and in your work. Sending you positive thoughts and lots of love! BTW I live in Oregon. Beautiful state to visit in the summer. Great festivals and outdoor things to do. I'm Native American and it's pow wow season all over the country. If you haven't been to one this may be the time! I dance so it makes me feel centered. There's some powerful juju in those drumbeats! lol Heal well sister.

My heart goes out to you during this breakup. Just like many others have said, I know the feeling, and it's what seems like an unbearable pain. It all takes time, and a positive outcome of it is a fresh start, a new you, a time to dig deep into what inspires you and build from it, and in the end, come out a whole different kind of wise and another level of strong. As far as your travels go, should definitely come to Minneapolis! I HIGHLY recommend the Uptown and Lake Calhoun area - wandering up and down Lyndale Ave and Hennepin Ave in Uptown, you're sure to find gems! Some of my personal favorites are Namaste Cafe Indian food, Moto-i ramen, which is right next to LynLake Brewery (among the many cool breweries) and the lake itself is beautiful to spend the day around. There's so much to do! I ♥️ the Midwest. I also just got home a few hours ago from Portland, their summers are amazing and I think it's pretty well known that Portland and the surrounding areas are beautiful! If you find yourself in Oregon try the Neahkahnie mountain hike, it's breathtaking. Traveling can do anyone a world of good!! Keep focusing on what makes you happy and let your feelings flow freely! 💓

Hey Christine! First of I bloody love your vids! I really look forward to seeing them and especially love your personal style but most of all I really like how you come across. You are a super cool cat. I'm so sorry to hear about the break up. Here is what I do when my heart needs some TLC - spend time with animals (getting a dog is a great idea!), spend time doing the things I love, balance solitude with good company, exercise a little every day, eat, try to rest for a little bit in the day - with a cup of tea and a book or tv, spend some time in nature, keep it simple and most importantly and I know this isn't easy but focus on the now. Don't look too far behind or ahead. This may be the end of one chapter but it is the beginning of another and who knows what's gonna come your way. I am always so inspired by how motivated you seem, how much focus and enthusiasm you have and how you always turn up early for everything. Take that energy and plough it into yourself for a while. It will get easier. I know it! Big love, Gem x x

Sorry about the break up, but I'm glad you know all the trips are "running away" in a sense 😟. I can relate though. I prefer to get away for a bit to refresh when life gets ugly (if possible). I'd definitely suggest visiting NYC this summer!
