This was the start of the great surge of Welsh rugby on the world. The 70’s were the finest era of the men in red, it was a great pleasure to watch them in that spectacular run they had. And as max boyce used to say, “ I was there”, in front of my tv, but I was there. By the way , I’m an Englishman who was so envious of their skills and passion

Always beaten by SA and NZ in the 70s.
The myth of the Welsh being good at rugby needs to be exposed.

2:00 What a try by "that fellow" Edwards. Two beautifully judged kicks-ahead while running forward at full steam (and even while glancing left and right) shows it was no fluke.

Edwards could have been a world class fly half too. His running and kicking game was superb.

It was a helluva try. Broke our hearts that day in Scotland at that point, I think, as the Scots never looked like coming back after that try.
My elder brother, now sadly departed, was a decent scrum-half and once represented Edinburgh at schoolboy level. Gareth Edwards was his idol, literally, he made an effigy of Edwards out of plasticine and put it on the mantle piece so that he could pray to it!
The Welsh sides of the seventies were indeed a wonder to behold. As for that Edwards try, well, as Scots we can only admire it. It had everything, pace, strength, awareness, beautifully controlled kicks, bravery and tenacity. An iconic try, up there with the very best, such as the one he scored for the Barbarians against the All Blacks (although for this one he did it all by himself).
What a player, will we ever see his likes again? Well, we can but pray. Now, where is that modelling clay?

The picture of Edwards shortly after landing the try is one of Welsh rugby's greatest images.

I agree. To me, you can discount that Barbarians try,and replace it with his second try in this match. I have lost count in the number of times I have watched this replay, and every time I say to myself He isn,t going to make it.Let me also say, being from the north of England, I am predominantly a Rugby League fan!

Today, with 5 points for a try, the score would have been 40-13. This was the first season of 4 points for a try, previously a miserly 3. The 2nd season in a row that Wales won all their 5 nations matches, but the championship was not completed- the Ireland v Wales game cancelled.
