This topic (kick-boxing/boxing) might not really be interesting to many, but what’s interesting is to understand how rulings are made in Islam. As they go more in-depth you realise just how much we don’t know, but it’s interesting nonetheless. For example, many Hijab begins talking about the context of language used and how this can affect the meaning of the Hadith. Maybe you can go over another one of these (some random topic not necessarily kick boxing) which breaks down a ruling like this.
I wish you would explore more the context of 2 people willingly striking to the face as in competition. As I think most of the classical opinions is where one person was unwilling. Allah knows best.
this is my perspective too brother, the only verse in quran that scholars use is dont strike the face, but what about if you and your opponent both consent and sign an agreement and allow a professional fight and not a street fight, even khabib was saying this point as well.
My problem as someone who is into mma is that without sparring intensity and getting used to some level of pain and conditioning you’ll freeze if someone attacks you or your family. I am not saying that going full in but 70% is needed sometimes to actually learn and grow from it but Allah knows best

That answer tells me you understood your body and mind capability, most people or even scholars are not fighters/warriors and they will never understand your statement. Allahu alem but this is the most logical answer to me brother, if you have a chance to ask a scholar about that specific topic please reply to me.
@@mohammadmehmood3405 brother it's not as clear cut as you make it out to be. The whole ruling is based on 1 hadeeth which isn't even universal it just speaks of striking fellow muslims. Also when you are sparring you are not hitting out of spite or anger it is literally practising and preparing yourself incase you are in a situation where it needs to be implemented.
Everyone who is trying to say that its haraam hasnt been in a situation where its been helpful, i used to be so troubled and a very very violent teen, from fighting on the streets to chasing ppl on main roads and so on Alhamdulilah mma changed my life
Hitting the face causing permanent damage is definitely HARAM. If a Muslim fighter engages in MMA in the same exact way as a DUEL in battle in the old days, then all restrictions are removed, because it's a fight to death. Otherwise, as a sport and entertainment, a Muslim fighter should abide by the Prophetic edict of not hitting the face UNTIL the opponent hits his face, and he is then allowed to return the favor as a retribution.
If the non muslims are learning boxing how is a muslim fighter aupoosed to “duel” him if hes not gonna train boxing because its “haram” the sahaba used to practice in sword fighting and duel and wrestle thats how they gained strength
When talking about combat, there needs to be distinction between training to fight, competing against others and fighting for entertainment. Surely, a person learning how to fight so that they can fulfill their responsibilities is not the same as one who fights for money and fame in an industry corrupted by gambling and other sins.
Saying its haram because a fighter is competent its stupid, same logic as to if im the best engineer and get paid for it (my company is corrupt) then im doing haram, doesnt make sense
The short answer is yes.. it is haram.. harming another person just for entertaining and betting is not only haram it also leads to another haram things like gambling
@@ousamabar9311 you didn't answer my question though Mr fatwa giver?! 😂 Most likely just some ignorant kid behind a keyboard. No credentials to even make such a claim. 😂
I do jiu-jitsu and MMA and I train with several Muslim teammates of mine. I've asked them this and a lot of them said this is a topic of great debate but none of those guys harbor any ill will towards anyone. They train with or fight
Indeed brother, i used to box but when i started studying hadiths i found thzt it is as clear as day that hitting someone in any way to the face is prohibited, even when a woman got stoned, it was ordered to avoid hitting her on the face. So if a death sentenced person is not hit on the face why should you hit someone just for a sport. @@falah_9994
@@bahastar6688Then what do you say about if going to a battlefield You won't say cuz sparing is Haram, you won't train to defend yourself on the battlefield and whatever it is you're fighting for
Learning to defend is part of Jihad, which even giving prizes/money for activities such as archery and horse riding is allowed due to it preparing for jihad. Now, hitting the face, having haram advertisements (alcohol, women), music, egos, etc. is a no brainer. If you watch UFC don't talk about it to Muslims, keep it to yourself. Stop praising Khabib, UFC is not halal nor is the money he has taken.
I'm not giving any fatwa or anything, I just want to ask you brothers: Is it appropriate for a Muslim to box in a cage, awrah exposed, watched in front of audience like a gladiator? When you think of boxers, what comes to your mind? Even if we agree boxing is halal it would be very restricted, not mainstream kickboxing we are all familiar with.
There should also be a heavy emphasis on the distinction between sports as physical training and sports as part of entertainment industry (sports enterainment). The conflation of the two is commonly present within the laymen discourse of women's participation in "sports". The ambiguity has led the more feminism-inclined Muslims to mistakenly believe that practicing sports being permissible for women automatically equals their participation in the sports entertainment industry being permissible as well. The latter is a separate and complex matter, to which the scholars must refer a bunch of other Daleel to issue a fatwa/verdict on the matter.
@@pasikhdar6617 The problem is that people often use arguments for recreational sports to justify sport as part of entertainment industry. They ignore all the problems associated with being a professional kickboxer, football player, basketball players, etc. When you point out all those obvious problems they label you as an extremist who is against physical health and recreation....
@@logician1234 yes, exactly what i was alluding to. Furthermore, i'm inclined to think that many of the Muslim youth's interest in sports is largely anchored in vanity. A scholarly opinion on Rasulullah's Hadith of encouraging horseback riding and archery competition (but not other sports apart form wrestling) and the allowing of wagers therein, says that such was done to promote aptitude and discipline in training for militaristic jihad. Could be that other forms of sports are categorized as a waste of time from Islamic perspective. It's just because watching sports have been heavily marketed and embedded in culture that even the Muslim people refuse to realize that the athletes are deriving wealth from their own idleness/unwise use of time. Sorry if this turned out long. I want to be sure i am being as cordial as possible, as i am aware that this can be a sensitive topic to some people.

It is because consuming sports entertainment is heavily embedded into pop culture that even the Muslim people refuse to realize that athletes are deriving wealth from the idleness of the people. It is fallacious for people to argue that "sports is useful to earn money therefore it is morally acceptable", as there was a time where money, let alone an entire career, was not even in the picture for sports practitioners (EDIT: i.e. the time *before* some kuffar civilization established the concept of monetizing sports as a form of mass entertainment). In case anyone reading is confused, i am not arguing with the person i am replying to. I was actually agreeing with him, and expanding on his points.
Nothing is exposed? When i think of boxers or fighters high level what comes to my mind is extreme determination, hard work, and mind set. You gotta consider a thing though most of the jobs have health drawbacks either mental of physical. That being said, i believe KO ing a guy and then ground and pounding him causing concussion even tho it is agreed and in controlled environment can’t be halal.
Personally from what your saying I believe it's there to protect another muslim from being killed, as Allah knows the face/brain is a sensitive area. And it would make sense that this only applies to another muslim. But to protect yourself and the other person it would be better to also learn Ju-Jitsu/Wrestling to disarm your oponent in self-defence. Some element of striking would be necessary.

Our deen is clear we need to stop finding loopholes to appease ourself . Sparring is allowed for training purposes with right equipment on. Fighting for money or striking the face is not allowed
In my opinion playing professional boxing can hurt people to some extent. But as we know fighting in the rings and streets are not the same ofcourse some rivarly and beef aside. In streets people really want to hurt each other but in a ring people exchange punches they are not onesided.Although hitting on the face is not preferable.Just a scenerio I have created to explian it clearly"Suppose a guy who has been through a lot,his dad is alchoholic etc as a result he suffers from crhonic depression, he fights in the streets, is in bad companoy or bad group of people but enrolling into mma changed his life mentally and physically, which created a self value in him"(Hypothetical). Now lets give example of our muslim brother Khabib Nurmagomedov-----Amirul Mu'minin, Abu Hafs 'Umar bin al-Khattab phrased "I heard the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, say: “Actions are (judged) by motives (niyyah), so each man will have what he intended"Kabibs intentions were pure he was a true muslim preached Islam to people respect people which is more important than anything. When your good deeds are heavier than Bad deed Allah THe most forgiving unsees your bad deeds..I hope you get my point fellow muslim brothers
I'm seeing a bit of a trend from some of the brothers here. "Learn how to fight but don't get in the ring and hit someone else" is like saying "learn how to do math by knowing the formula but don't do any practice problems". If you are taught how to stand and hit and then you hit a bag YOU WILL NOT KNOW HOW TO FIGHT. You MUST get in the ring, in a controlled environment, with coaches and proven health and what not. I have been training boxing for about 10 years and i have had numerous discussions about this subject. I've fought at the amateur level as well. I had my first fight about 4 years after i started because i needed coaches i can trust, but at the same time i understood that learning how to fight has some sacrifices (getting hit in sparring). Wallahi if you "learn" without getting in the ring at all and you get caught in a problem in the street or something you will not use anything you think learned. You have to get into the ring and practice. You have to hit for real and get hit for real to learn how to defend yourself. As for haram and halal it's not my place to say but i do believe we need to be strong. It takes strength to hit someone and it takes strength to be able to take a hit. We can't use hadiths like the ones mentioned as an excuse not to ever get hit in the face. Are you going to tell the thug thats mugging you "hey dont hit my face im Muslim!" Or are you gonna take it and dish it out and get out of that situation safely? Allah knows best. If you guys read the whole thing let me know what youre thinking.

Why do youtube personalities try so hard to bend the rules and give fatwas on subjects that they're clearly biased about? Obviously Muhammad Hijab is biased towards boxing because he likes the sport but he cannot give fatwas as he is not a scholar, boxing is haram so is any sport that requires to hit the head and this is unanimously agreed. they're deciphering the meaning of the hadith in the original arabic in what other language are you supposed to discuss a non mainstream difference of opinion? this is not some generally held position, so you can't just discuss it in English, for the sake of precision you need to bring up the specific words and phrasing
you can spar 100 percent while only going from belly to the shoulder! this is even better then including the face because you can go 100 percent with no concussion by the end, and dont think you wont be ready to hit a face when time arises, still you still have to guard your face against stray shots and have a correct guard. you make yourself small, its not like you stand there with your arms only guarding your torso.
Salam Alaikum as far as boxing or striking is concerned I believe that striking the face is allowed in self defense and life and death situations. If it's for competitive reasons then it's not allowed.
Just train for self defense and fitness ..but dont compete and make it as your career as it will require you to hurt your opponent and yourself to make earnings
lets make things clear this is wrong 1 prophet muhammed pbuh said do not eat to much that it can full your stomach {order} 2 take breaths when drinking {order} 3 do not sleep on your stomach { order } 4 eat with your right side { order } many things like this so if you dont follow it that makes it haram ; this does not make it haram its for the benifit of human beings if you do it good if not that does not make it haram 1 we have many scholars saying that boxing or mma is not haram but it is not favorited 2 and there is difference between fighting or competation 3 the problem is that our muslim scholars when they like something they make it halal when they hate some thing like some say music is haram some say music is halal some say cigrites , video games , masterbation is makru some says it is haram the best example is sheikh asim al hakeem he says pubg , boxing or mma is haram but beer is halal because it does not make you high . so why beer is halal when it contains alchohal why masterbation is makru or muba when the prophet muhammed pbuh did not allow it at any cercumstance like some scholars keep the beard short or fist lenght or bigger they all have different perspectives when they like some thing or dislike some thing they will make make it halal or haram like some says music is haram they will put proves and some music is halal they will put some other proves and some times they say this hadith is not authentic i have so many examples like that the problem the only know about the fight ; they dont know about the grind behind it the sacrafice like most of the fighters they dont drink they dont smoke they eat the right food they are disciplane so stricking to the face in sport is not haram but not favorited also if some one wants to debate i am here for it
Bro bare knuckle fighting actually does so much less damage than with gloves, gloves gives you cte, concussions but it prevents cuts to some extent. and bare knuckle fighting does the opposite, it gives you "cuts" they might look worse than with gloves, sure, but it is significantly less damaging to the brain.
So what about playing video games like tekken 7 where 2 players can hit the face of each other would that be halal Becuase we are not hitting anyone in reality ?
Lol are you kidding us ? Bro The whole planet is having problems finding work. Will do sports-related training as a trainer or sports teacher, assistant coaches in the gym. That is to say you are going to help men to become muscular. You can become a security guard. You can be Bodyguard
Do submission grappling you can make money of that and since there is no face hitting it’s halal and wrestling is sunnah as well, also bodyguard, security guard, if your thinking about college if you haven’t already then athletic trainer or something like that. Also I go back and forth on if MMA is really haram or not as I train myself. So far I’ve only competed in grappling, but I’m doing as much research as I can to see if it really is haram because most people’s points as to why it is can be easily disproven.
Prof. MMA / Boxing is basically watching 2 human beings bash each other to unconsciousness for entertainment. (The mind/brain is a jewel for us humans) Then there is the issues with awrah / the ring girls / gambling / liquor etc.
@@peaceful_warrior7627 yupp football might be even worse even though you’re not hitting the face the amount of beating body and brain takes is horrendous. im assuming youre talking about american football.
@@luqi5 No. Soccer. And I wasn't thinking about the face part, rather the gambling and alcohol and cheerleaders (though soccer doesn't really have girls cheering like that)
I think sparring here and there is necessary you have to train realistic to be able to protect yourselves and loved ones. The pads or bag doesn‘t hit back. I‘m sure sahabas also prepared quite intensly for war but of course Allah knows best. I think a couple of amateur fights with short rounds and a ref could be beneficial especially grappling arts. But if we are talkin bout professional fighting with earning money ring girls music alcohol consuming and fighting to get knockout bonuses etc then its clearly haram imo.
While it’s natural to seek flexibility in matters of personal interest, selectively using fringe opinions to align with desires is not just misguided-it’s a dangerous form of fatwaa shopping that undermines the integrity of Islamic law. Islam is not a buffet where one can cherry-pick rulings to suit personal ambitions; it is a divinely ordained system rooted in submission to Allaah’s commands and prioritises strong, well-established evidences over isolated or minority views. The prohibition of striking the face, explicitly addressed in authentic ahadeeth and upheld by the majority of Muslim scholars, is not a trivial matter but a clear boundary set by our Creator due to the inherent harm and dishonour involved. Whether one seeks to justify their love for the sport, dreams of establishing a Muslim boxing association, or envisions becoming a promoter like Jake Paul or Dana White to amass wealth, the reasoning remains flawed. Good intentions, no matter how noble they seem, do not transform what is impermissible into permissible. This is a foundational principle of Islam. To prioritise personal goals or financial aspirations over clear prohibitions is not only intellectually dishonest but spiritually reckless. By resorting to weaker or fringe opinions to justify such pursuits, one risks turning Islam into a tool for convenience rather than submission, eroding its sanctity and distorting its teachings. Obedience to Allaah demands that we submit even when it conflicts with our desires-not find loopholes to indulge them.
Did the Prophet (ﷺ) say that there must be a consensus for something to be haram? what is next haram by analogy? haram by voting? The Prophet (ﷺ) clearly stated فَلْيَجْتَنِبِ الْوَجْهَ : anything else is hot air and excuse for deviance. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If somebody fights then he should avoid the face." (Sahih al-Bukhari 2559) If the fight includes hitting the face, then either fight without hitting the face or don't fight at all, especially when the purpose for fighting is itself dubious to say the least.
The Quran tells you to go to the people of knowledge. The people of knowledge have many opinions and obviously you can’t follow more than one opinion on a topic so you go with majority or the consensus. Basic logic akhil kareem
Awrah must be covered. Means it wouldn't be permissible to compete whilst wearing tight clothing around the awrah or with your awrah exposed in general.
@@holdingholder8 people can wrestle without wearing those skin tight outfits. Also, accidentally touching someone's awrah whilst sparring is different to groping their awrah. The intent behind the action is pretty important. If someone's intent is to perform a takedown and they happen to come in contact with their opens awrah then that's a different situation to someone tryna grap their homies balls
I love how we go to lengths to make this more permissible, but in other matters of life we go with the strictest opinions that make it impermissible. Lol
Why so complex analyses.... Combat sports ,fighters who get trained to enter the canvas/ring /cage...to entertain people by trying to knock his opponent out and everything that comes into the business like gambling industry that's involved,music,nudity....etccc.. Can we just say that's a RedZone?? Combatsport for self defence or for fitness/health purpose that's very clear..no big deal.

Could be that other forms of sports competition is categorized as a waste of time from the Islamic perspective.

Can someone help me understand the summary of this video? I am still confused.
Agreed with that, but We need a trustworthy person who is fair and not biased and who holds people to what he believes

2 take breaths when drinking {order}
3 do not sleep on your stomach { order }
4 eat with your right side { order }

if you do it good if not that does not make it haram
1 we have many scholars saying that boxing or mma is not haram but it is not favorited
2 and there is difference between fighting or competation
3 the problem is that our muslim scholars when they like something they make it halal when they hate some thing like some say music is haram some say music is halal some say cigrites , video games , masterbation is makru some says it is haram
the best example is sheikh asim al hakeem he says pubg , boxing or mma is haram but beer is halal because it does not make you high .
so why beer is halal when it contains alchohal why masterbation is makru or muba when the prophet muhammed pbuh did not allow it at any cercumstance like some scholars keep the beard short or fist lenght or bigger they all have different perspectives when they like some thing or dislike some thing they will make make it halal or haram like some says music is haram they will put proves and some music is halal they will put some other proves and some times they say this hadith is not authentic
i have so many examples like that
the problem the only know about the fight ; they dont know about the grind behind it the sacrafice like most of the fighters they dont drink they dont smoke they eat the right food they are disciplane
so stricking to the face in sport is not haram but not favorited also if some one wants to debate i am here for it
