This should have been his last fight like it was supposed to be.
Wanderlei was an animal in the octagon. I will always remember this fight because of that moment when Brian Stann was bleeding all over Wanderlei after they went to the ground. When he got back up after the bell, Wanderlei literally looked like he had murdered someone in cold blood with an axe.

You have to respect warriors like Brian Stann who stepped into the cage with a legend who is known for his violence and fought his ass off. The fight could have easily went the other way but once the fight was over he took the L like a man should. No excuses, no trying to disguise what happened just respect and a humility I wish more fighters could learn. Stann fought a great fight and has nothing to hang his head about because he gave the kind of fight that fight fans absolutely love to witness. These men are modern day gladiators in every sense of the word. They don't try to win on points or lay all over each other grappling (don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the grappling and other ground activity but most fight fans watch for the excitement that these guys bring every time they fight. Both men signed on the dotted line knowing damn well someone is going out on their shield. How can you not reapect these guys? It sucks someone had to lose but I know Brian Stann earned a ton of new fans that night for his heart and his humility and his respect for Wanderlei even though he got KOd by him. He took his loss like a champ and the mma world should take notes on how to lose in this sport because too many try to make bogus excuses as to why they lost instead of just admitting their opponent was the better fighter that night.
Man that WHOLE FIGHT was a highlight reel to say the least! It really could have gone either way in that moment . silva just timed it right and pulled the trigger first in that last exchange to come had they started swinging for the fences again. Wow.
