My God!! This just shot me back to my childhood and I'm literally crying nostalgic tears. My parents had this entire album on vinyl. I was about 6 or 7 but I used to enjoy listening to this so much ❤❤
I love that Noisey got their eyes on William and there is an upcoming documentary. But.. This song really dosen't make itself justice when you shorten it from 8+ minutes to this radio format. And this video was not even half as decent as the one Leo Lyxxx did. But still. Happy that you guys uploaded it so more people can here about this wonderfully mysterious cowboy from Nigeria. Restecpa
Thanks for the feedback pal! Unfortunately we had to shorten the song, as its so time consuming and costly to animate an 8 minute song. Glad to hear you liked Leo's work too (!!) and that youre appreciating all the hours we're putting in - means a lot!! :)
Agreed. Onyeabor transcends conventional song structure to the point where the chant, drone, and unique brand of funk become shamanic. Noisey is expansive culturally, and though it's nice to have those jams that only you know about, this stuff really does deserve some serious attention.
maikie, What an artist, the music is good.i am surprised it have a good review by the audience,i thought ,William onyeabor "CHICKS AND CHICKENS" song is a better song#

You non- nigerian record collectors, and your interest in early nigerian funk music! This is amazing!! "Came-on"!
I remember hearing this as a kid in Nigeria.
It was so different and unique, I am not surprised it lived forever.
Hooray!! Thanks for the beautiful piece of art Nicolai, and for the great support Noisey and You Need To Hear This.
Love from Luaka Bop in New York

Thanks for explaining. Feel it's an obligation as a human being to give credit where it's due lol as silly as it may sound.

This has a 70s sound. When is the song from? Really cool music.
It was originally released 1978 in Nigeria. Re-issued world wide in 2013.
