There can be real love between a man and a woman that is not sexual. Elrond and Galadriel epitomize that. You can’t say they are ONLY friends as if friendship isn’t EVERYTHING! In the Lord of the Rings movie, Galadriel speaks to Elrond in his mind and tells him what is in Sauron’s mind. This is what leads him to giving Aragorn the sword. What we see in ROP is the mind meld they develop. To Tolkien friendship was everything. And listen, if I was likely to see my best friends head on a pike tomorrow because I would not give into her captor, then, I’d ask her forgiveness and kiss her on the mouth too-while slipping her a chance to escape.
So beautiful! This is a LOVE STORY. It's up to us to interpret this love whatever the hell we want. The beauty of fiction. And the beauty of them!
