The addition of suspension makes even tired old routes feel fresh and new and so much smoother. Looking forward to moving off of full-suspension to full rigid in the future. And that cyclist at 2:10, I bet they were strava-ing it xD Really loving the banter :)
Two Wheel Cruise I love the video and glad that you point out the local bike shops. Hope that you will include Kaze bike shop, home of Kawabata San, in the future. I used to live in Nagakute with my family and Bata San was very good to us. Keep up the good work with your videos!
I love commuting on a hardtail. I feel like a kid trying to jump every curb and gap around town. Definitely makes the commute more fun than my road bike, but so much more tiring.
Commuting by bike definitely keeps you fully immersed in the seasons. Commuting by car you’re in an air conditioned box and then when you get to work in an office it doesn’t feel like the time of year. In fact it’s usually the opposite. In summer it feels freezing and winter is stiflingly hot because they overcompensate with the AC.
I smiled at that moment, i really liked it! :) In Greece, we often wave too when happens to meet a biker or a group of bikers in the opposite direction, or when we are on a mountain road, and meet hickers and bikers, i love that..... I liked your ride and the touring, thanks and have safe rides you and Thuong!!! Congrats for her new channel, and enjoy it! :) Greetings from Greece, take care!!! Yianna P.
When I wave at roadies they hardly ever wave back :/ Maybe because I'm riding a MTB?! Won't stop me from waving at them though! XD I also wave at small children in cars so that they thing cycling is cool XD Spreading the sport!
Very nice ride. I was surprised by how wide and nice the foot paths are in Japan. It's good that with proper infrastructure more people can ride instead of driving. Commuting in MTB is actually safer, more comfortable and more practical than road bike. The obvious advantages of MTB Vs Road Bikes for commuting are: You run Wider tyres with much larger contact surfaces and lower pressure. This offers far better grip and reduced braking distances in wet. Lower tyre pressure offers better comfort, lower puncture risks. And running full suspension not only offers way better comfort, you can easily deal with curbs and mount them easily to maintain smooth flow and higher average speeds. On sudden transitions to soft sandy surfaces where sealed surfaces disappears, you can still move on, instead of having to get off and push on a road bike. Even better, if you ride a eMTB with centre drive, if offers so much torque that makes hill climbs disappears and allows you to maintain and carry forward your momentum over undulating terrains and maintain higher average speeds. I used to ride my road bike for commuting and covers 60kms per day. Now i switched to eMTB. The concept is similar to GT, being able to cover vast distances at high speed and comfort. It takes me just less than a hour to cover a 30km trip. So maintaining just over 40kmh+ average, similar to my road bike speed and slightly lower than my recumbent speed, but offering much better ride with the comfort of full suspension. And on flats, i can even keep up with cars doing around 50kmh. Yes, eMTB is the way to go! The battery gets charged by my full Offgrid solar so it is totally Green solution that is powered by the sun ☀️😂👍
Hey Man , I really like these videos of you both cycling around Town . I live in Greenwich SE London and used to commute to soho in central London on my bike, only around 7 miles each way but..... what a pain in the winter, my route took me mostly along the River Thames so lots to see and very historical but sooooo windy in winter. Some was great as there are lots of old pubs to stop off at !
Thanks for the video. Every time I go to visit Beautiful Wife's family in Ise I'm surprised how fast the sun drops. On the other hand, a public holiday in Germany means just that: everything is closed except essential services which is nice: almost no traffic at all and everyone gets the day off. The coldest I cycled in this year was -6; I was very glad when the sun came out.
I’m always terrified of those , not sure what you can them, but the uncovered rain ditches in the side of the road. I always worry about falling in or my tire snagging it. They are like a foot deep. Lol. Great video. I love cocos currry!!
Thank you for the tour. I enjoyed it. I felt I was riding on your handle bars and watching the scenary. I love how there are so many bike roads. You could paddle anywhere.
I now own a Mountain Bike. But i mainly use it on regular pavement. Having trouble. I find it heavy, and the handle bars are low. Mind you I came from using a Hybrid. 🤦. Im watching your wife, it's admirable. Any advice?
Thuong-chan looks so happy with her new bike! :) Riding in the dark may not be as video-friendly but it's still lovely imo. In my old job I'd do both my rides in the dark during the winter, it was always very peaceful (albeit a bit cold). Now my ride is considerably shorter so I get to ride with daylight through the year (mostly so now that it's still summer for me here).
She loves her new bike :) Despite them being not great for new videos, I also really like the winter night rides. Nobody is on my path home which is kinda nice.
Great video! I live in Wisconsin USA and getting close to spring riding to work. I live in a smaller town and cars are not my main dangers. I have deer and fox that cross the road at night on the ride home.My ride is 2 miles.
Hey, new subscriber here. Love your videos. I used to love cycling to work every day (around 8 miles one way) until I was knocked off my bike (hit and run) and lost confidence and have not cycled since then. Watching your videos has given me incentive to buy a new bike and start cycling again though 😃
Great video, Cruise. Your videos keep getting better and better. And loving the mountain bike you got for your wife. Also, looking forward to checking out your wife’s RUclips walking channel. To both of you, keep up the phenomenal work, and so glad I found you both on here.
Great that she has been doing it for 5 years. Here in Austria it is compulsory to have lights , front and back, reflectors on front, back, pedals and on the wheels . I have a Lezyne 500ml for the front and a Lezyne Pro back light. I also have some cheaper Sigma round sets.
Thuong, very nice looking bike and nice matching outfit. Cruise, you did a good job setting the camera to capture the magic hour lighting (you always do). Safe riding.
Just finished the Thuong and Cruise double hitter and hope U2 will have free time for a normal life outside of social media. :-). We just watched small Japanese-Singaporean-French indie last night, u might want to check out “Ramen Shop” or called “Ramen Teh” in Asia.
Thuong has a great look going with the Orange - very cool looking. She is an "Orange Whip". (ps. I like the handle of one of your patreon supporters - that was one of my favorite scenes in that movie).
5:24 and 6:03 DAYUM, those were some close calls. O_O The sun rises on my way bike commuting to work and sets when I get home. Nice view but sun gets in my eyes even with glasses. The visor peak part of my cycling hat kinda helps blocking out the sun but also reduces my viewing range. How is Japan dealing with Corona Virus situation especially among Asian foreigners?
That first one was pretty annoying, but the second one you pointed out is very common in Japan. They train the drivers here to ease in on the turn as far as possible even if you plan to stop. It's very very very nerve-wracking as a cyclist because you never know if they will actually stop or not, so best to always be extra cautious. I got hit this way once, and it was not a good time.. The Coronavirus situation is getting more intense lately, everyone is wearing masks now, but that's about the extent of it so far.
hi Cruise you have a nice vlog keep it up sir. btw you've just passed (@10:51) the Giant store may I know the location of that store. thanks and ride safe always.

Just ran across your vlog and thought it was very interesting. I too bike everywhere here in Utah, USA. So how many miles did you do on the way home? If you dont mind, I'd like to follow you two and your bike and life journey...😀👍🚴♂️
Great video Cruise. Just wondering with all the wandering pedestrians on the cycle paths in Japan whether you should use a bell. Or maybe that's not appropriate in Japan?

The labor program can be a good opportunity depending on where you come from, but it is a lot of work and they do some crazy overtime at very low rates
I wonder how is it to commute in winter with such low temperatures... Here in Northeast Brazil is mostly sunny with 30+ celsius. Even when it rains is not that cold, it goes down to 23/24 celsius.
One thing you get from doing what seem to anybody like boring and tiring, commuting to work and back home make's your body more immune to sickness, doing this make's your body conditioned, and changes in the environment does not have much impact on you, after the eruption of Taal volcano here in the Philippines i ride my bike to work which is only 19km from the volcano with the ash and rocks and almost zero visibility, with respirator, goggles, gloves, and arm warmers, i go to work and back home without even a cold.
So i dunno if you saw my previous comment Question was im planning on buy java brand dunno if you're familiar with it I wanted your opinion The one I'll be getting Is java siluro 3 road bike And java furia mtb Great video and ride safe👍
hey man, just a tip: some people like to see some part of the bike (the handlebars) in the shot as you ride. For some reason, I tend not to want to watch vids where all i can see is the scenery outisde. I doubt I'm the only one who's weird like that. Point is, you could be missing out on views.
Thanks for the tip! I agree, it's better to have the handlebars in the shot. Normally my setup has it, but on this bike my position is too far forward with the GoPro on Wide setting. I'll try to see if it's any better on the extrawide setting.
Just wondering .... Are you alloud to use a bicycle bell in Japan, to warn people? Here in the Netherlands it is mandatory to have a bicycle bell on your bike, even on your racingbike. :-) I do like your video's about biking in Japan. Arjen Vonk not so sure it would work either way.. in the US we don’t use them and if you try it doesn’t work because people are not habituated to respond to it.. better off yelling or just not relying on it to prevent anything
Just a suggestion: replace her knobby tires with a smooth one so she can accelerate easier and keep her speed better. Her biking with the MTB will be more enjoyable since she don't do off road with it.
How long is your daily commute? Mine is 18 km (11.18 mi) here in Manila. It's quite congested and the roads aren't as well built and maintained, but I got to work early (6AM) so I can get ahead of most car traffic and we're starting to adapt more bike-friendly culture because of the lockdown. Hey brother... Take love from your new subscriber... I also want to commute on mountain bike.. 😍 Can you suggest any budget mountain bike.. How about trek marlin.. Plz let me know. And one more thing.. I love your videos. ❤️
On that silky smooth roads ? Nothing more then 25mm high class road tire is needed. That still can be with upright flat bar comfy position. I really hate modern mtbs. They are so .. not right. That Q-factor is 50mm more then needed and really hurts the knees

I remember seeing a trailer for that movie a while back, I gotta watch it!
Two Wheel Cruise, let me know your thoughts on the ending, as wife disagreed with me on it’s meaning.
Such smooth roads in Japan. Cycling here in London, you have to wiggle your way through the pot holes without going under the wheels of a truck!
no shit, here in the Philippines.. mountain bike is better to use when commuting because of unstable road and random bumps everywhere lol
I always enjoy your channel. It is simply is realistic as to how most people ride and think about bikes and cycling.
Thanks! :)
Ahhhh!! I went to NUFS 10 years ago, this brings back memories of me riding bikes in that area.
Senpai ;)
This just popped up in my YT feed and I started watching without looking at the date. Then I thought, wait what you guys are back in Japan?!
We wish 😂
You are strong cyclist, it’s a good commute, the roads are good, a lot better than the roads in London, UK.
Good use of hand signals at times.

my sister who's working in japan as a caregiver also commutes everyday by mamachari bike hehe

What do you think?
Hey brother...
Take love from your new subscriber...
I also want to commute on mountain bike.. 😍
Can you suggest any budget mountain bike..
How about trek marlin..

And one more thing..

Kudos to you man great video. very nice video and very pretty lady you got there keep riding. I use an electric bike and its allot easier.
I CANTTT wait to graduate so i can go there too uwuu
How do
you commute during rain
I don't hear the 'Hime Hime' song along the way? What happen? :D
Haha we save that for special longer rides
On that silky smooth roads ? Nothing more then 25mm high class road tire is needed. That still can be with upright flat bar comfy position. I really hate modern mtbs. They are so .. not right. That Q-factor is 50mm more then needed and really hurts the knees
@ 3:32 looked like someone almost crashed into your left hand side.
yeah, I was worried he might plow into the road :/
Need some lights on the wife's bike ..safety 1st
I didn't know that in Japan you drive on the left side of the road.
Yep!
@@TwoWheelCruise Why? Japan was never a British Colony.
record by camera?
Where are your flashing lights? You should run them day and night when riding.
They're on her normal commute bike. Didn't switch them over today since this was just a one time ride on this bike.
This bike really looks like my Trek Marlin 6. It's so nice to watch your videos. Good luck guys!
Thanks! It's a BMC teamelite 03
I was going to say that the geometry reminded me of my giant talon, the marlin and talon are so similar especially with the lowered seat stays
