    There are so many options for tool bags, but I settled on the Toughbuilt Large Tool Tote, and I think it has some unique tricks and a great price that make it the perfect option you may not have heard of.

    I have that tote. I'm 78, retired and always fixing things for neighbors. I've added a couple of punches, tweezers, magnetic retreaver, Volt meter, combo screwdriver, so I wont have to carry so mant different screwdrivers. Always looking at what others are putting in their totes. I change from time to time to keep updated on new tools. Like the Kobalt pliers set at Lowes on sale. They change from needle nose pliers to flat nose. Set has 6" and 8" set pliers. They are great. Randy

    I've had that tote for a while, and I like the many ways you can load it out. The only change I'd make is to put the internal dividers on velcro, so they could be removed or repositioned, to give more space for chunky items. The bottoms of the dividers already have velcro, but the sides are sewn into the bag for some reason.

    Toughbuilt is a fantastic brand!! I'm in multifamily maintenance & I've got the knife pouch for hip carry of a couple edc basics (screwdriver, pliers, wrench, etc) for work orders, the master electrician bag for everything beyond the pouch for vacant turns, as well as the large rolling bag for plumbing tools, hardware & a couple power tools for the bigger projects! Great setup on this one! Can't go wrong with some Knipex in the bag too👍🏼🛠️

    I have the rolling bag xxl and it’s where I like to store all my tools (my tool collection is kind of small since it all fits in there) and I’ve been looking to getting the smaller massive mouth version of this one for my basic DIY tasks but I’m hoping it goes on sale. I saw that the 12 inch tote went on sale on Amazon for around $56 during prime day but I kind of want the one that closes to prevent my tools from going everywhere in the car and prevent dust from getting on them. I know it retails for $55 but I’m hoping it goes on sale during the holidays. Love your 16 inch Toughbuilt tote but it is a bit too heavy for me and like you said, I’d probably find a way to fill it up 😂 Thank you for the video! Keep up the great work!

    Good video. I recently bought the same tote before I watched your video. Its perfect for around the house to keep all the essential project tools or to head over to help out a friend. The perfect hammer for this tote for me is the Dewalt 12oz Steel Curved Claw. At 11.5 inches it sits nicely in the tote. Other things I keep in there is a non contact voltage detector as well as an outlet tester. Other things I keep in there that were not mentioned is a small spec ops cats paw/pry bar , a couple nail sets, a putty knife and a small tube of spackling and some demo gloves. Im sure it will evolve over time.

    And even on site sometimes , the push out back doesn’t work that well with tools in it hence I use spare clips ,overall it’s just a system that is durable and works extremely well for a great price, I have given up on soft
    tool totes as all the dividers get loose or the

    For the space you have there the only thing that stands out to me is maybe having an assortment of common sizes and types of drill bits. Something like a second box of Dewalt driver bits could hold a lot of drill bits. How about ball end allen key sets. Pretty light and compact, so even if you don't need them much it's not in the way or too heavy. Maybe a small socket set.
    I have a tool tote with wheels and a extendable handle so I haul around more bits, socket sets and more power tools. But a lot of them don't apply to your needs.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад +1

      The plan is to have some drill bits in that same case so I don’t have to take two cases unless necessary. I actually picked up a DEWALT drill bit set with 1/4” hex shank to use in there on Saturday

    I love this bag but the bump outs on the inside ends are a royal pain. If it doesn’t lock in why the bump outs? I’d also like to see the pockets have some adjustment capabilities to move them. They are velcroed at the bottom but sewn into the sides????
    The pockets in the inside at each end should be squared off and full length to accommodate small jugs or pipe door or anti-sieze.
    I’m a natural gas service technician and currently there are no bass or attachments for our industry.

    You said you would make the bag lighter. What would you do to make it lighter? I think if you make the bag lighter, you are making another bag. Either smaller, less features, and/or less durable material. Also, maybe it could be lighter with more expensive materials. What do you think could be done to this bag to make it noticeably lighter but not turn it into a noticeably different bag?

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад

      My main point was that I wished that the smaller version was more widely available in stores to get hands on. At the time is was only available online and even now lowes offers this for $4-5 cheaper than Amazon has the medium 12” tote. Second this is 2-3 lbs heavier than a similar sized Milwaukee packout tote and double the weight of a husky tote. This is a rugged back but that comes at a cost of weight before you even put a tool in the bad. So not so much changing this bag but just something to consider if you are shopping in this price point.

  • @gpraceman

    I keep a small pouch in my tool bag with a 1/4" socket set that I pieced together. Makita XPS socket sets (metric and SAE), a small ratchet, universal joint, and extension. Compact and handy. A small spiral notepad is handy for making shopping lists or writing down measurements. On screwdrivers, I have tried several and ended up going with the Wera ratcheting screwdriver, Klein 32308 stubby, and Klein electronics screwdriver for my bag. The Wera and Klein stubby will use any standard 1/4" bits, which adds flexibility. The LTT and Wiha seem redundant and don't give you the flexibility of using 1/4" bits. I have the Wiha and don't like when the bit cluster comes loose and rattles around inside the handle. That and all that flipping just to get to the bit I wanted.

    People probably have very different needs but stuff that always lives in my bag that i didnt see in the video (unless I missed it) is multimeter, 3/8 ratchet + a small socket set, strips, angle adapter for drill/impact, chisel blade knife, gorilla tape and a demolition screwdriver (gods gift to mankind imo)

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад

      I have a 3/8” ratchet and planning on adding a few common socket sizes. Right now it has been grab and go as I have needed them. Angle adapter has been solved mostly by having a multi Chuck drill as the drill at times but I have thought about it. The demo screwdriver is a good addition and tape is a good point too.

    Let me try this again, seems like my first comment got deleted.
    I have that tote, it has a couple of hidden features that most people do not know about, there are hand wells at both ends of the tote located at the bottom so that you can lift it that way if the tote gets overloaded with tools and it becomes really heavy, I would have rather had the extra space in the inside end pockets that these hand wells protrude into.
    On the ends of the tote, there are 2 grommets, the smaller grommet is where you attach the shoulder strap, the larger grommt with the loop is where you can actually attach one of the toughbuilts clips, the clips fits perfectly on that loop with the larger grommet, in other words, you can clip extra pouches to the metal clip bar or the loop on the end of the tote, I prefer to have my toughbuilt drill hoster clipped on the end of the tote instead of having it on the clip bar.

    Thanks for the bag tour! It's always interesting to see what others use in the go bags.
    IMHO, the ltt driver is overpriced. I'd get the megapro automotive instead. It's a very similar driver, same style of bit storage, but holds standard 1" bits. My daily driver is a williams wrs-1. Amazing grip.
    For a hammers I carry two; a 12oz straight claw estwing and a halder simplex 21oz. I love that you can change the striking faces in that one. I use a blue rubber (very soft) and either nylon or what halder calls "superplastic".
    The knipex pliers wrench is absolutely amazing. I use a similar pencil made by pica; also amazing.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад

      Don’t get me wrong, I like the ratchet mechanism on the LTT best of any of them but the Megapro is 98% as nice and I like the grip better. As for the price they were shooting for the snap-on killer and so the pricing market is similar to that. I think biggest issue is that there are a lot of nice screwdrivers on the market and so while I will continue to use it I will also rotate others.
      Thanks for the Hammer suggestions. I’ll have to check those out. I have two of the picas as well and love them. This ox was a nice more accessible version that I figured I would give a try.

    • @NWGR
      @NWGR Год назад

      @@TinkerWithTools Yeah, that's the biggest issue with the ltt driver; competition is fierce. Like you said, with the megapro, you can get a driver that's 98% as good (or better than, depending on which features are important to you) for about $40 less. I'd be more inclined to give the ltt driver a shot if it were around $50 shipped.
      The halder simplex mallets are amazing. I do have a couple of the smaller 12oz variants as well, but don't use them nearly as much as the 21oz.
