  • On September 30th, 1999, Hisashi Ouchi, Masato Shinohara and Yutaka Yokokawa found themselves at the centre of Japan's worst nuclear accident. The events leading up to and following those critical seconds at 10:35AM that bright morning would conclude with two of them dying, one sentenced to prison and the fall from grace of the Japanese nuclear power industry.
But what actually happened is shrouded in lies and mystery, the voids of knowledge filled with fabrications to shock and scare. Tokaimura is by far controversial, with claims of human experimentation repeated across the Internet. This is not the case. This is the story of a government that failed its citizens, and the battle to save their lives among misguided hope.
Hisashi Ouchi is dead. Yutaka Yokokawa has been discharged from hospital. Only one of the three remains battling for their lives: Masato Shinohara. This is the tragic story of his final months.

What happened to these men was horrible. While I believe in nuclear energy's benefits, we are playing with fire and need to be very careful.

    Mother of God
I would've ordered them to end it before I lost the ability to talk
All of that is just torture

hey thatchernobylguy, I was wondering if u could post just like a compilation of photos and videos the Chernobyl in 1986. I know it’s a weird request and different from the things that you usually do but it would be nice if u could do that

That and the pictures from the cases of Hizashi Ouchi and Misagi Shinohara if possible.

@@shaylane5013 honestly I feel like that would be pretty disrespectful to the families, while yes these cases are incredibly rare, it must have been so painful for him, we should just let him rest

@@Mr-dw5zqIf the pictures are available in a document, then the document can just be cited. Disrespect has already been had if the hospital was allowed to take pictures of a case study. Consent was already had for the pictures to exist.

@@shaylane5013 I highly doubt that, we all know what happened to Ouchi, he probably couldn’t give consent and even then there’re classified for a reason

Dr. Jack Kervorkian would have been the best specialist this man could have had. He suffered twithout hope. I believe they used him just to gather data on end stage radiation sickness.
