AD. As part of an ongoing collaboration with Sky Cinema where I get to review films to recommend each month from their Sky Cinema Club. This month I have gone with A Man Called Otto, starring Tom Hanks. It follows a man called Otto after the sad passing of his wife, but after a new couple move into his neighbourhood, he is challenged to view life differently. It is a heartwarming film about love, loss and life and it proves that family can be found in the most unlikely of places. Also on Sky Cinema this month is Maggie Moore and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves which comes to Sky Cinema on the 18th August. As always please let me know what you think of A Man Called Otto, and if you have any suggestions of films for me to watch please put them in the comments below.

I USE AFFILIATE LINKS
You as a customer do not pay more because I have used an affiliate link, it does not affect you in any way other than a small percentage of the sale may go to the person who generated the link. You pay no more, no less for buying, it's just a couple of pounds goes to the person who influenced sale of the item from the company not from you.
When I cut back lavender I leave it in bunches on the paving nearby for the bees to carry on enjoying for a while longer.
Genius Thank you !! A bunch in a basket would also look nice
I love your color palette!
Do never underestimate the “little“ gestures, in a longterm relationship. They are the most important one!!!
I appreciate your approach to "sustainability" and minimalism. It is really refreshing. Often I find both side to be exasperating.
What a jewel of a husband you are ! 💕
Isn’t he! A man with the looks and beautiful inside too. Very rare
A Man Called Ove is a wonderful book and the Swedish movie and Tom Hanks American version are both worth watching. 👍
I love The Minimalists! Becoming more minimal has changed my life for the better.
I would love a demo of “ lavender pruning”….your kitty’s conversational voice is so engaging ! Im not informed on the topic of minimalism, but in my “ minimal “ observation when it comes to shopping for quality clothing it seems that exorbitant pricing should be a consideration. I’m old enough to remember being able to afford high end, comfortable, well- made beautiful clothing comparable to what sells today for thousands of $$. Sadly this isnt the average budget now and doesn’t seem to qualify as minimalism, but I probably should study the topic before I offer my opinion! I do love your videos.
Thank you for raising the point on sustainability, Ali. Building on that, we should also consider our food consumption, especially animal products, and understand its impact on the planet. It's not about starting a debate, but rather raising awareness.
Yes, those flatulent animals need to be replaced with myriad other foods. That’s just for starters.
Alie such an important conversation. I love your thoughtfulness. Being deliberate in my decision making in regards to consumption and what impact that will have. Being honest with myself; is this a need or a want? Do I have something or a resource already that I can use? Just being aware makes such a big difference in how you move through the world. But I also am not going to stress myself out about it. Nor am I going to suggest to someone else what they should or should not do. I like your comments on this👍
I am in the same boat. I need to cut but I love all the bees, lucky I have enough flowers in the garden to help them.
We love you and watch every week , but please invest in a tiny shirt Mic , especially for all your outdoor filming , whenever your outside we cannot hear a word 😂
Another great performance by the absolute legend Tom hanks.
What a remarkable fulfilling film.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this heart-wrenching sentimental drama.
A great recommendation for your viewers Ali. 👍🏻
You're all so well-spoken and I agree with the conversation factor.
Ali with Lavender it flowers best from new growth & you don’t want lavender to get woody, the trimming up will stimulate new growth for next years flowering
You did not prepare us adequately for A Man Called Otto 😭
I love the interaction with the cat…..they need to belong…. Lol
The backyard is looking AAAAAMAZING!!! Never heard of "A man called Otto"...... definitely checking it out !
Ali…one hundred percent that is a great film……loved it!!
I get the instinct to cut the lavender back, but even herein Western Canadawe are waiting to cut anything back..but everything is late this year…..so good call on asking information…..
Love the way you approached minamilism ali. People get caught up in the label and then get pushy about it. You are such a bright light ali and I love how you touched on this topic.
Ali, thank you for showing us this new lifestyle. Country life is the basic thing for each human. You are one of the bravest! Go on! P.S. I am sure it's going to be the magic garden.
I’ve cut back the lavender in pots but I can’t bring myself to do it on my lavender path as the bees are still loving it. Mine is at the same stage as yours. I was interested to see what you’ve done and I’m pleased I’ve left mine too. 🍃
Always a pleasure to watch your vlog
@5:22 I used to work with someone named Otto and he was known for the same type of grumpy personality as the movie. He passed already but it was nice to remember him.
I enjoyed the sustainability conversation; thank you.😊
Great composition in how you film.
LESTRANGE looks like a quality store because it adheres to the old money aesthetic. What I mean by that is their color palette. Navy, cream, and green are the colors of the old money aesthetic. This is what one should strive for. Avoiding bold colors and flashy names cast across a garment. Timeless and classic styles, high quality fabrics.
First, have you seen Dungeons & Dragons?? I loved it! Second, I agree with the commentator who said, "considered consumerism". Minimalism is such a broad category. To be honest, I immediately think art. Then I think decor. For example, not having much on the walls (art etc), possibly not having a tv, in short having few things in your home - I'm a minimalist in that respect. Having few things could still mean someone has more than they need (depends on a person's needs/how they define need) but perhaps all that they want or all that they "need" not all that they want. I've never connected the term to fashion. I suppose it could mean having very few clothes but that, for me, doesn't mean that the clothes one has are sustainably made or thoughtfully "considered". I'm definitely interested in hearing more from you, and others in the comments, on the topic.
Ali, I saw the same lavender video! I was going to cut back, but then I saw another video that said to use the bees as a guide. If they are still enjoying it, leave it a big longer. I think they stop using it if it's past its prime. Mine still has loads of bees on it. I will review it in a few weeks 😊 hope it this helps! It helped me as I was slightly confused and unsure what to do.
That green shirt was 🔥. It looked very nice on you. I have the same thigh issue. More space in the thighs means more space in the waste. I end up wearing thigh huggers 😄
A great conversation.
Should deffinetly trim lavander , because it won’t be as bushy later on , it will grow very woody .
A Man called Otto, is an adaptation from a Swedish film, from years ago. It's a superb movie, but being Swedish, I had a hard time with the " Hollywood " style.
The lavender looks very pretty❤
Enjoyed man called Otto.
"A Man Called Otto" was a total let down for me.
Don’t you wear jeans anymore?
Great vlog 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Legal esse vídeo 👏👏👏🇧🇷
@3:33 What are the windows 🪟 on the 2nd floor? What room would that be?
Plant need food fertilizer and new soil every year.
Great video. How many times did Ali say SOFT ha ha Please don’t let the word farmer Ali start that would besad
Just get waterproof covers for the outdoor chairs.
Too bad about the pants on that suit. I thought the jacket looked QUITE attractive. The black shirt was nice too.
needs a lapel mic...
Thanks for the lavender info. It’s always great when you have your balls shaped!
Cut my lavender back two weeks ago
By the way Ali, what’s YOUR love language?
doormat
Ali I think I respond better to "considered consumerism"
Probably a partial prune
Hmm you may want to crop that linen shirt from proper cloth. It looks too long
His line “extra service” sound so slavery
I can't stand Tom Hanks!
😆 not one for you then
You might try the Swedish movie version A Man Called Ove. This was a wonderful book and movie and Mr. Hanks did another more Americanized version.
I have my reasons for not wanting anything to do with Tom hanks and it has nothing to do with his acting.@@lagunagirl1347
@@evedallas8667🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You cook and eat chickens! Yet youve named them and have got them as pets! Thats disgusting!
