As a Queenslander, I think NSW were as tough as nails even with 12. They certainly can hold there head up high. The first 20 minutes of the second half had me worried.

The game was there for the taking for NSW down 20-10 & continually attacking Qld's line. But where it was lost for NSW was in the halves. Nicho had his chance & BLEW IT BIGTIME. Ran it at the wrong times & offered not much with his passing game. Moses definitely my #7 for game 2 & who would have been there Game 1 if healthy.
Martin also steamrolled Walsh late but Klein missed it. It was so obvious their game plan was to take out Walsh and it backfired. Also having your captain play 25 mins just shows that NSW don’t get Origin 😂

Jurbo played reduced minutes because there was 12 men and they put the backrowers on for more speed to cover space. Stop acting like you know anything about rugby league. And Cam Smith and Paul Vautin said it wasn’t a send off Walsh slipped.

There's no way that Suaalii's shoulder, directly connected with Walsh's head. If so, Walsh would've been knocked out cold. And more than likely, would've suffered a broken jaw. You do realise that Walsh passed his HIA.

He has to downplay it, there's no alternative. Even if Walsh did get his face broken, as a coach you have to always be perceived as on the side of your players in the public eye.

I hope this isn’t the end for Suaalii’s origin series. Yeah he played the main part of that loss but it was never his intention to put his team in that sort of circumstance. You could tell he had that spark in him from the start, even from his first run. These sort of games suit his play style with his yardage carries, aerial game and his ability of being a threat at all times. He had the right intent but it was just very unfortunate how it played out.
Well he's been given 4 weeks ban already. So no game 2 and probably not picked for game 3. 😂

Good gutsy call by Klein, but he tried to look after NSW for the rest of the match.
It was the right call to be sent off. Doesn't matter how enormous the game is. Discipline and it wouldn't happen
Three things in this highlight NSW's problem. One is denial, second is a lack of accountability and lastly is players playing as individuals not as a team.
This last point (in my opinion) highlights the biggest difference between the two teams.
the mentality of the first try is the difference, an ageing player offloading a pass to potentially two teammates who was in motion whilst being tackled by the opposition.
They would have been told to rattle Walsh and get him on tilt. But it backfired due to poor discipline.

The magnitude of the game has absolutely nothing to do with it. It was a send off all day long. Comparing it to Walsh’s broken cheekbone earlier in the season too is wrong as that one was purely an accidental head clash, this one he left his feet and made forceful contact shoulder to head. Blues did well with 12 to hang tough but the decision was correct.
For the people complaining.
Duty of care, defender isn’t allowed to deliberately make contact that will inure the player.
Madge is just upset that “taking out Walsh” has consequences. It’s not the 80s
How’s it deliberate when Reece slips backwards which is what lowered his head last second into the shot. Otherwise he eats a heavy tackle to the chest. Reece created that. Not Sualii. It’s a contact sport. If you don’t like it bounce to soccer pal.
umm he didn't deliberately make contact to he's head - it was all Reece's doing, the idiot braced himself then lost his footing!
And if Suaalii actually made direct contact with Walsh's head, he would've been knocked out cold. And more than likely, suffered a broken jaw. You do realise that Walsh had passed his HIA. But, for some weird reason, once a player has adjudicated of having a category 1 HIA, they're not allowed to come back onto the field.

The blues can hold their heads high. Send off 8 minutes in but still managed to be only down by 10 with 15 minutes to go until as Madge said fatigue sent in. I've actually never felt more hopeful for a game 2 after a loss in a while. The boys all played for the jersey tonight but unfortunately was just an impossible task. do a few changes, drop Teddy, Hynes and Suaali'i and we have a genuine team on our hands here.

Took long to react n adjust, didn't plan for a send off n it showed, hope this doesn't affect Jake's future origin performance, too nice of a guy, no doubt this has impacted him mentally.

Given the choice Jake would've been on there for 80 minutes. His tackles per minute exceeded everyone on the park by a large margin, with zero misses.
My guess is Madge gambled on all out attack rather than tightening up the middle, because NSW were so far behind.

Liniu I thought played well for NSW he just ran hard and strong. The blues definitely missing Cleary to control the the team. NSW forced too many offloads, didn’t complete crucial sets and missed a lot of tackles that lead to tries! Some boys did some very good things in patches but also some bad things! Unfortunately they were not consistent throughout the game.Yes you can blame being 1 man down but still with the players NSW had I feel they shouldn’t have lost like that! Especially at home! On the flip side Queensland were class, tibua-Fidow, DCE, Ben hunt, Taulagi, coats Cobo all had master class performances. Billy slater really has installed high standards in this Queensland outfit. The only negative point I have about Queensland in this match was Kafusi’s haircut 🥴🤦🏽♂️
