    Hi there I was wanting to know can you do a video concerning anyone who wants to provide three different sizes of their artwork through Procreate. For example, I only art business, and I really want to start turning my artwork into digital file that people can start downloading and buying online but I just want to offer three sizes small medium and large. Frame sizes: 8x10, 11x14, 18x24. How would I size my canvass on Procreate app for those specific frame sizes for people to print? I don’t know if I make any sense but I hope I do. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge I appreciate it..

      Hi there! Your question makes perfect sense, and it's great to hear you're looking to expand your art into digital sales with varied sizes. Procreate is a fantastic tool for creating digital artwork that can be printed in high quality at different sizes. Here's how you can size your canvas in Procreate to match the frame sizes of 8x10, 11x14, and 18x24 inches for small, medium, and large prints, respectively:
      1. **Understanding DPI (Dots Per Inch):** For printing purposes, the standard quality resolution is 300 DPI. This ensures that your artwork looks crisp and clear when printed. A higher DPI means a higher resolution image, but for most prints, 300 DPI is sufficient and widely used.
      2. **Calculating Canvas Size:** To calculate the size of your canvas in pixels, you can use the formula: (inches) x (DPI) = (pixels). For example, for an 8x10 inch print at 300 DPI, the canvas size would be 2400x3000 pixels.
      3. **Setting Up Canvases in Procreate:**
      - **Small (8x10 inches):** Open Procreate, tap the "+" to create a new canvas, then tap "Custom Size". Enter width as 2400 pixels and height as 3000 pixels for an 8x10 inch print at 300 DPI.
      - **Medium (11x14 inches):** For an 11x14 inch print, the canvas size should be 3300x4200 pixels. Follow the same steps to create a new custom size canvas with these dimensions.
      - **Large (18x24 inches):** For an 18x24 inch print, set your canvas to 5400x7200 pixels. Again, create a new custom size canvas with these dimensions.
      4. **Aspect Ratio Note:** It's important to note that each of these sizes has a different aspect ratio. The 8x10 and 18x24 are both 4:5 ratios, while the 11x14 is closer to a 4:5 but actually an 11:14 ratio. This means when creating artwork intended to be printed at these sizes, you should be mindful of these ratios to ensure your artwork fits well within each intended frame size.
      5. **Exporting Your Artwork:** Once your artwork is complete, export it in a high-quality format like PNG or TIFF. This will ensure that the print quality is maintained.
      6. **Testing:** If possible, it's a good idea to print a test copy of your artwork at each size to ensure the quality meets your standards before offering them for sale.
      By following these steps, you'll be able to create digital files in Procreate that are optimised for printing at the sizes you want to offer. This approach not only ensures quality but also gives you flexibility in catering to different customer preferences. Good luck with your digital art sales, and I hope this helps you get started on the right foot!

    Can you make these changes to an already created image?

    • @kiliarts
      @kiliarts  11 месяцев назад

      Last week, while working with a client, we printed two images set at 113dpi. Despite them not being flattened PNG files, we successfully printed them at 100cm square on a fine art canvas after applying a slight unsharpen mask in Photoshop. However, I recommend establishing a process where you set the file dimension and color profile before creating your artwork. This will help avoid inconsistencies during printing.

    Here a question about size choice. You stated 36 X 24, but then you’ll be losing many valuable layers. That doesn’t seem like an viable option. Can you offer any other choices?

    • @kiliarts
      @kiliarts  2 года назад +2

      Thank for the comment, the way you get around this is convert 36x24 into pixels 10800 x 7200 set the PPI to 300 or where you can set to 600 so you can print even bigger for your clients without loosing quality. Yes the file size is bigger however there is a lot of value in doing this.I hope this helps.

    Question..what paper works great for art?

    • @kiliarts
      @kiliarts  Год назад

      When it comes to Giclee printing, choosing the right paper can make all the difference. Two popular options are textured and smooth papers, each with their own unique qualities and benefits.
      Textured papers offer a more traditional, fine art feel, with a tactile surface that adds depth and dimension to your prints. They're ideal for reproducing paintings and drawings, as they can enhance the texture and brushstrokes of the original piece.
      On the other hand, smooth papers offer a clean, modern look with a more polished finish. They're often preferred for photographic prints, as they can bring out the sharpness and detail of the image.
      Both textured and smooth papers come in a variety of weights and finishes, so it's important to choose the right one for your specific needs. Factors such as the colour and contrast of your image, as well as the desired level of saturation and depth, can all play a role in your paper choice.
      At the end of the day, the decision between textured and smooth papers comes down to personal preference and the specific needs of your project. At Kili Arts, our team of experts can guide you through the process and help you choose the perfect paper for your Giclee prints.

    You’ve said paint in RGB AND PRINT? That prints too dark. Don’t you need to convert that into CMYK? Wont that produce a dull muted image? You said nothing about how to work around this.

    • @kiliarts
      @kiliarts  6 месяцев назад +1

      To achieve the best results when printing images, it's important to understand the differences between RGB and CMYK color modes. While printing in RGB can yield vibrant colours, converting to CMYK is often necessary for accurate print representation, even though it may result in some colours appearing duller. To work around this issue, it's crucial to calibrate your monitor, use soft proofing software, employ custom colour profiles for your printer and paper combination, and conduct test prints to fine-tune your settings and ensure optimal print quality.

    You can’t create a canvas of 36”x24”with a dpi of 300, which actually showed in your video and you changed it to 8x10 inches. Why recommend it if it can’t be done?

    • @kiliarts
      @kiliarts  11 месяцев назад +1

      Tap the wrench icon, and under “Canvas” tap “Crop and Resize.” From here, tap “Settings” to adjust the size of your canvas. You can also adjust the DPI if you'd like, but note that this will likely limit your number of layers even more. I keep mine at the standard for printing, 300 DPI.
